Sri Manavala Mamunigal Hamsa vahanam - day 3 at Triplicane

We stand rejuvenated and feeling extremely happy with the celebrations of our Acharyar –Swami Manavala Mamunigal Thiruvavathara Uthasavam.  Today, 21st Oct 2014 [Deepavali eve] is day 3 of the Uthsavam.   Our Acharyar is hailed as ‘Periya Jeeyar’ and our Swami Manavala Mamunigal spent a major portion of his life at Thiruvarangam serving the Lord.

It is said that Manavala mamuni's devotion to Nammalvar, Ramanuja and to his own Acharya grew as he studied Azhwargal’s  hymns and rahasyas at Azhwar Thirunagari. His  first work  was “Yatiraja Vimsati” -  twenty sanskrit stanzas in praise of  Sri Ramanuja.  Upon reading this, Tiruvaimozhip pillai gave him the title Yateendra Pravanar.

Such reverred and most learned Swami today had purappadu on Hamsa vahanam.  The bird hamsam is  attributed qualities of  purity, detachment, divine knowledge, cosmic breath (prana) and highest spiritual accomplishment – and is fit to be a vahanam for our Acharyar.   Here are some photos of today’s purappadu
