பத்திமைக்கன்புடையேன் ~ Sri Azhagiya Singar Thavana uthsavam 2020

பத்திமை என்ற வார்த்தைக்கு அர்த்தம் தெரியுமா ? ~ closest meaning could be : high devotion, piety.

On 14.3.2020, I had taken some photos and wrote - Thiruvallikkeni is replete with Festivities – After the Theppothsavam, starts Thavana Uthsavam … when Sri Parthasarathi has purappadu to ‘Thavana Uthsava Bungalow’ deriving its name from the Thavana Uthsavam that occurs for 5 days starting Masi Krithikai. With the onset of summer, Perumal takes rest under the roof made of dhavanam (Tamil: தவனம்) [Artemisia pallens] – an aromatic herb.

2020 started well with Irapathu Uthsavam, then came Pongal, Ekkadu Thangal, Masi Magam, Ratha Sapthami, Theppothsavam, Thavana Uthsavam of Sri Parthasarathi, Sri Varadhar and Sri Azhagiya Singar and that was to be the last purappadu. On 14.3.2020, it was day 1 - there was morning purappadu to Dhavana Uthsava Bungalow, Azhagiya Singar had Thirumanjanam; evening purappadu inside the bungalow and at around 0630 pm periya mada veethi, kulakkarai purappadu back to sannathi; second day He rushed back to His sannathi in the evening and on day 3 – no morning purappadu. Evening after a brief halt at Thavana Uthsava bungalow, periya mada veethi purappadu was completed – the next scheduled purappadu was Ekadasi [also Thiruvonam] on 20.3.2020 – it did not happen. Sadly, Temples were ordered to be closed – whole Nation went under lockdown. From thence on there have been no purappadu and we have already missed out Pallava Uthsavam, Sree Rama Navami, Brahmothsavams of Sri Parthasarathi & Azhagiya Singar, Varadhar uthsavam, Nammalwar uthsavam, Vasantha, Kodai Uthsavams, Thiruvadippuram uthsavam. Alavandhar Uthsavam, Thiruppavadai Uthsavam, Jyesthabishekam ~ I firmly believe that by next month things should be alright, and we can have darshan of Kannan purappadu and Uriyadi purappadu of Sri Jayanthi, birth of Lord Krishna.

These photos were taken on 14.3.2020 ~ Sri Azhagiya Singar Thavana uthsavam – none of us had any inkling of the disaster that was waiting to happen – it had in fact started already but the real impact was not understood at that time – the Corona virus spread, carefully named as Covid 19 so that it has no reference to the origin or the place from which it spread, well done, WHO ! – in few months millions have been affected across the globe while thousands have died. Almost the whole of the Globe closed down – lockdown still continuing in most places.

There have been repercussions - WHO gave a clean chit to China, but USA did not. In the days following China’s retaliatory closure of the US consulate in Chengdu at the end of July, Benjamin Wang received “maybe 20 phone calls” from the top bosses of American firms in the region, “who did not know what was going on” in the crumbling superpower relationship. The move marked a new and dangerous spike in the US-China rivalry and came after Washington closed the Chinese consulate in Houston, citing alleged cyber-espionage activity there. As Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Southwest China, Wang was a natural point man to field anxious questions from some of the 54 Fortune 500 companies based in the region, many of whom were concerned that geopolitical issues were spiralling out of control. “The first issue is that tensions are escalating. Then there is uncertainty about future policies, you never know where this will go. Nobody knows what is next,” said Wang, whose organisation represents the interests of blue chip American companies such as Intel, Ford and Citibank in the area that includes the Chinese megacities of Chengdu and Chongqing, both industrial hubs.

Now, as the US-China relationship goes from bad to worse, with the promise of more fireworks before the American presidential election in November, the overarching concern is about the geopolitical situation, with many executives helpless in the face of what one lobbyist called a “new cold war footing” pursued by both sides. Could US businesses, long a reliable lobbying force in Washington for closer ties with China, now find themselves caught in the crosshairs?

On a positive note, amidst the rising novel coronavirus cases and deaths across the world, Russia has been pushing extensively for a Covid-19 vaccine for quite some time now. Following that, the country will register its first vaccine against the coronavirus on 12 August, Deputy Health Minister Oleg Gridnev said on Friday, according to a report. The vaccine has been developed jointly by the Gamaleya Research Institute and the Russian Defence Ministry.

Tamil Nadu today reported 119 deaths and 5,880 fresh Covid-19 cases, which pushed the toll to 4,690 and cumulative case tally to 2,85,024. At least 65,189 people were tested in the last 24 hours. Cases in Chennai fell below the 1,000-mark. The city reported 984 fresh cases and 24 deaths – hope the downtrend continues – we are hearing 3 digits after very many days.

அளவுகடந்த ஆசைநிலைமைக்குப் பத்திமை என்று பெயர். அது சாதாரண ஆசை அல்ல ! ~ எம்பெருமானிடத்திலே அளவு கடந்த ஆசை. ஜந்மதரித்திரனுக்கு அளவுகடந்த பசியுண்டானால் பசிக்குத் தக்கபடி உணவுகிடைக்கப் பெறாதொழியில் ‘பசி மந்தித்துப் போவதற்கு மருந்து கொடுப்பாருண்டோ?‘ என்று விசாரிக்குமாபோலே திருமங்கைமன்னன் தம்முடைய பேராசைக்குத் தக்கபடி அநுபவிக்கப் பெறாமையாலே ஆசையை அளவுபடுத்தினால் போதுமென்கிறார். ; ஓரளவிலே நிற்கிற ஆசைநிலைமைக்கு அன்பு என்று பெயர் என்பதாகக் கொள்க. ஆழ்வாருடைய ஆசையின் நிலைமை எல்லைகடந்த அவஸ்தையிலே நிற்பதால் ‘இப்படிப்பட்ட பத்திமையைக்கொண்டு என்னால் பாடாற்றப்போகவில்லை, இந்த நிலைமையை மாற்றி வெறும் அன்பு நிலைமையையே தந்திடாய்‘ என்று வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறார்.

கலியன் வாய்ச்சுவை எம்பெருமானிடத்தில் பரம பக்தியை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது. என் நெஞ்சமும் தரித்து நிற்கிறதில்லை; மஹாபாபியான நான் என்ன பண்ணுவேன்? எம்பெருமானே! (பத்திமைக்கு) அளவிறந்து பெருகிச் செல்லுகின்ற பக்தியின் காரணத்தினாலே அன்பை உடையேனாம்படி என்னை செய்தருளவேணும். நல்முத்துப் போன்ற சிறந்தவனே ! ஒளி பொருந்திய மரகதப்பச்சை போன்றவனே! கர்ஜிப்பதும் ஒளிபொருந்தியதுமான காளமுகம் போன்றவனே! என் நாயகனே! உன் பக்கல் கைங்கரியம் தவிர யாது ஒன்றும் அறிகிலேன் நான். நாம் பத்திமை இல்லாத பாவிகள். எம்பெருமானிடத்திலே சரணடைந்து நல்வழி கேட்டு அவனிடமே ஏகுவோம்.
