Swami Mudali Andan Sarrumurai purappadu with Sri Ramar # Thirumayilai


ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜரின் பிரதான சீடர்கள் கூரத்தாழ்வானும் முதலியாண்டானும்.  ஸ்ரீ ராமானுஜரின் சகோதரியான நாச்சியாருக்கு ஆனந்த தீக்ஷிதருக்கும் திருக்குமாரராய் 1027ம்  வருஷம் சௌம்ய வருஷம் புனர்வசு நக்ஷத்திரத்தன்று அவதரித்தார். பெற்றோர் இட்ட பெயர் தாசரதி. எம்பெருமானார் சன்யாசம்  பெற்றதும் அவரது சீடராகி பின்னாளில், அவரது அடியார்களில் முதலானவராய் முதலியாண்டான் எனவே பெயர் பெற்றார். இவரது அவதார ஸ்தலம் "பேட்டை" பூவிருந்தவல்லிக்கு அருகே உள்ளது.

I have recently posted on significance of  Chithirayil Punarpusam (22nd Apr 2018)  ~ a day associated with Aandan considered as Trithandam of Swami Ramanujar.  I had posted on our Acaryar and the celebrations at Thiruvallikkeni.   Prior I had posted on ‘Vellai Sarruppadi’ – day 6 of Emperumanar Uthsavam whence his moving out of Thiruvarangam towards Melukote was enacted.   

In a long journey of ordeal, Swamy Ramanujar arrived in Karnataka where the local were not warm to him.  Some who could not accept his knowledge and compassion, conspired a plan to do away with him. Swamy Ramanujar learning their evil intentions ordered Mudaliandan Swamy to place his feet in the drinking water pond in that area now called Saligrama.   At Saligrama, by partaking this Sripada theertham, the minds of the evildoers changed and they fell at Swamy Ramanujar lotus feet seeking forgiveness. Such was the greatness of our Mudaliandan Swamy.

Nachiyaramman was the elder of Swami Emburumanar’s two sisters. Andan was born to Nachiyar and Anandanarayana Dheekshidar, who was  named -  Dasarathy. Dasarathy refers to Dasaratha’s sons, a reference to Chakravarthi thirumagan Sri Ramar.  He followed Emperumanar and Udayavar had a very intimate attachment towards Swami Mudaliandan which was expressed many times. Even at the time when he embraced Sanyasa, Ramanuja renounced everything except Swami Mudaliandan, his priya Bagineyar. While going to kaveri for his daily bath, he used to lean on Dasarathi for support.  Andaan is referred to as a Trithandam  which is always found with a pontiff. Andaan had the privilege of having both Bodily relationship (Thega sambandam) and Spiritual relationship (Atma sambandam) with Swami Ramanuja.

Swami Mudaliandan had progeny with the blessings of Swami Emperumanar.  Our Yathirajar received Perumal prasadam from the Temple which was covered with a garment (Kandadai- Gandam + aadai – a piece of cloth with fragrance) worn on Lord’s thirumeni (Lord’s archaamurthy). Andaan vamsam got florified as  Kandadayar family.  

On Sri Muthali Andan sarrumurai day, after purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam, had a chance darshan of Andan having purappadu with Sri Ramar at Thirumayilai Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal near Chithirai kulam.

We are proud of our lineage of Acaryas emanating  from the Holy feet of Sri Periya Perumal, Periya Pirattiar, .. .. ..  Emperumaanar, Koorathazhwar, Mudaliandan, .. .. Swami  Maanavala Maamunigal, to  Doddacharyar (of whose lineage we have the present head –    “Sri Ubhaya Vedantha Kovil Kanthadai Chandamarutham Singarachar Swamy”) ~ and because of this lineage, our dasya thirunamam is Srinivasadhasan.

Sri Thirumalai Ananthazhwan at Thiruvallikkeni Nampillai Sannathi 2018


Chithirai 14, Friday -27th apr 2018 is a day of significance in Triplicane !

Thirumalai Ananthalwan, a great Acharyar did great service for Thiruvengadamudayan, about 1000 years ago.  Ordained by Sri Ramanujacharya, Ananthazhwan did floral service at the holy Thirumalai, at a time when walking on the dense hills was fearsome and staying there was extremely difficult.   The garden created by Ananthazhwaan is now known as ‘Puraisaivari Thottam’.  It lies on the back side of the temple near Chinna Jeeyar Mutt and one can reach this place through the Thirumala Library also.    Now there is a beautiful brundavanam at this place maintained by the descendents of Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan.  The lake created by him now stands majestically as ‘Ramanuja lake” replete with water on the hill !!   Twice in a year,  Sri Malayappar visits this place and honours Ananthazhwaan now in the form of Magizha maram.  ‘Sri Venkatesa Ithihasa maala’ is considered the best amongst the many works of Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan

Sri Nampillai, in our  Acharya paramparai is known for his scholastic excellence.  In the Guru parampara lineage, he was the disciple of Sri Nanjeeyar and acharyar of Vadakku Thiruveethipillai. His commentary on Thiruvoimozhi known as Muppathu Aarayira(m)ppadi -  is considered as the best amongst the vyakyanams; considered equivalent to Thiruvoimozhi itself and  is celebrated as “Eedu”.  Nam Swami was born as “Varadhacharyar”, lived a life of 105 years in this world – from  1147 AD – 1252AD.    His life time was during the era of Chola dynasty and he was a witness to its glory, disintegration, defeat and annexation to Pandya kingdom. His Eedu also chronicles some part of the history of his time, as they are related to the temple of Srirangam.

Nampillai discoursed the lectures of Parasara Bhattar to his disciples Periavachaan Pillai and Vadakku Thiruveedi Pillai -  who in turn employed them in their respective commentaries. “Muppathu aarayirappadi” of Vadakku thiruveethipillai based on the discourses of Swami Nampillai is considered the best.  Nampillai of this fame has a sannadhi at Triplicane, situate at the front of Sri Bhandaram Committee place commonly known as “Komutti bungalow”. Around 100 years earlier, there was a great person by name Yogi Parthasarathi Iyengar and his wife was Yogi Singamma. Sri Yogi Parthasarathi Iyengar in his wisdom created a press for re-publishing on paper edition,  the great granthams of our Vaishnavaite mahans and in this venture established a press and persons to take care known as -  “Saraswathi Bhandram Committee” – saraswathi bhandaram meaning ‘library / treasure house’ of the works of Goddess of Learning Saraswathi. He spent his fortune towards establishing this and on this place built a temple for Sri Nampillai as the rightful person to own this treasure house. The idol of Namperumal was also installed alongside. He ensured that there would be festivities at least once a year.

Now this place stands pristine, renovated by a Committee in which Dr MA Venkatakrishnan Swami is the Jt Secretary.  A beautiful vigraham of Sri Ananthazhvan is to be installed  at Nampillai Sannathi Thiruvallikkeni and from 23.4.18, there is Nalayira divyaprabandha goshti.  The consecration will take in Mithuna lagna between 9.40 – 10.30 am on 27th Apr 2018.

Sure you have travelled many a times on this road by-passing the town of Poonamallee, situated at a distance of 23 kilometres from Fort St George and 17 kilometres from Sriperumbudur on the Chennai-Bangalore highway.  The name "Poonamallee" is derived from "Poovirundavalli", meaning "the place where flowers are cultivated". Had posted about the avathara sthalam of Thirukachi Nambigal here… nearer is another place of significance to us, which is not known to many.  This place many may know as Pettai [there are some references as Nazarathpettai – changed for obvious reasons now !]


In our Srivaishanava Sampradayam, Pontiffs carry tridandam signifying our philosophy - chit, achit and easwara.  Today (22nd Apr 2018) Chithirayil Punarpusam ~ a day of significance associated with Aandan considered as Trithandam of Swami Ramanujar.    


padhuke yathi rajasya kathayanthi yadhakh yaya |

Meaning: Yathiraja paduka (Swami Ramanujar's Lotus feet) is what he is known as. Hence we pay our respect to Daasarathi's (Mudaliandan) Lotus feet.

Yesterday was the grand celebration of  ~ ‘Swami Ramanujar Sahasrabdi poorthi  – 1001 years of the birth of the greatest Acharyar’.  On His Millennium year, there was the spectacle at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam – grand purappadu of Sri Parthasarathi Emperuman, Emperumanaar and Mudaliandan – yes, because Chithirayil Thiruvadhirai and Punarpusam fell on the same day.  So there was purappadu of Acharyar, his foremost disciple and Sri Parthasarathi Perumal.

Chithirai Month (mesha month), day of Punarpusam – a day after the Great Chithirayil Seyya Thiruvathirai of Swami Ramanujar comes the avathara celebrations of Mudali andan, Lord Rama's amsam also known as Yathiraja's paduka is our guru Daasarathi (Mudaliandan). Pettai is the avathara sthalam of Acharyar Mudali Andan, who was so close to Swami Udayavar.   

“Sree Ramanujo Vijayathe–Yathiraja Rajaha”( ஸ்ரீராமானுஜோ விஜயதே யதிராஜ ராஜ:) – the concluding lines of ‘Thadi (dhaTee) Panchakam’ – rendered by Swami Mudaliandan, which speaks of the  victory of Swami Ramanuja over other philosophies  and his establishing the Visishtadvaita philosophy that was built by Azhwars and Purvacharyas.  In those golden days when Swami Emperumanar walked on the streets of Thiruvarangam and other Divyadesams – tens of thousands of his disciples and hundreds of Jeeyars followed him hailing “Ramanujo Vijayathe – Yathiraja Rajaha:”

Of those who remained closest to Sri Ramanuja – Sri  Mudaliandan, Sri Koorathazhwan, Sri Embar,  Sri Ananthazhwan, Arulalaperumal Emperumanar, Kidambi Achaan, Thirukurugai Piraan Pillan, Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar and more.  Sri Mudaliandan Swami is reverred as Trithandam and Sri Koorathazhwan as Thiruppavithram for Swami Ramanujar.   Our Acaryar Swami Mudaliandan was born in Prabhava year 1027 in Chithirai punarpoosam. [so we have another 9 long years to celebrate his sahasrabdi !]   at Pachai Varana puram near Poonamallee (now Pettai) – on birth was named as Dasarathi – and he came to be known as  Yathiraja paduka, Nam Vadhoola Desikan (given by Sri Ranganthar), Vaishnav Siro Bushaa, Aandan (given by Swami Ramanujar), Tridandam (given by Swami Ramanujar), Sri Vaishnava dasar (given by Sishya's)





Understand that at Sriperumpudur, there is no vigraha for Mudaliandan as he stands in the Trithandam and Thiruvadi of Acharyar.  Daasarathi (Mudaliandan) [முதலியாண்டான்]  is  Avathara of the Lord Himself. Lord Rama was so pleased with Adiseshan's service to him as Lakshmana that he wanted to serve him in future Avatharas. As a result, he bestowed the Avathara of Balarama to Adiseshan and himself as Sri Krishna. Still unable to fulfill his desire, Lord Rama took the avatar of Mudaliandan in order to pay his reverence to Swami Ramanuja. When Thirukoshtiyur Nambi asked Swami Ramanuja to come to him to learn the "Rahasya Granthas" with his Pavithram (flag which is tied up on the top of Tridandam) and Tridandam (triple staff) he took with him Koorathazhwaan and Mudaliandan saying that they were his Pavithram and Tridandam. Mudaliandan's impeccable service to his mentor secured for him the status of being Ramanuja's Paduka (lotus feet), Tridandam & also the administrator of the Srirangam Temple.

At Thiruvallikkeni in East tank square overlooking the beautiful Kairavini pushkarini stands this Mutt (for sure you would have attended many functions at this kalyana mantap) ~ Yadugiri Yathiraja Mutt – is associated with our great Acaryar Swami Ramanujar who excelled in ensuring control of temples and reorientation of services (kainkaryams) to Emperuman at Thiruvarangam, Thirumala and Melukote.  This mutt having its hq at Melukote Thirunarayanapuram was  founded by our Yathi Raja.

Sri Vaishnavaites study his granthas and hail Him daily – in educational texts, only He should have been the role model for perseverance and victory and not the invader who repeatedly invaded India and destroyed Somnath.  The fit model our Acaryar Sri Ramanuja went 18 times to convince   Acharya Goshthi Poorna (Thirukottiyur Nambi)  to impart him the Asthakshari - Tirumanthra  and Dwaya l) mantra and their inner meanings… .. .. and learning it after such ordeal, thought it fit to share to the World (ஆசை உடையார்க்கு எல்லாம் கூறுமின்)

இன்று 21.4.2018 -  சித்திரையில் செய்ய திருவாதிரை நந்நாள்.  நம் ஆச்சார்யன் இவ்வுலகத்தில் வந்துதித்த சீரிய நாள். செங்கயல் வாவிகள் சீர்வயல்கள் சூழ்ந்த ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூரில் இளையாழ்வார் எனும் ராமானுஜர் அவதரித்த நந்நாள்



Today concludes the  10 day Thiruvavathara Uthsavam of our Swami Ramanujar.  In the morning there was the grand veethi purappadu – inside there was mangalasasanam in all sannathies, then it was rendering of Gadyatrayam, thirumanjanam, thirumozhi sarrumurai; evening thiruppavai sarrumurai, thiruveethi purappadu in mangalagiri concluding with thiruvaimozhi sarrumurai.   

In the words of Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar, the earthly human beings were all given the true  Knowledge by the birth of Acharyar Ramanujar and started disciples of Sriman Narayanan.
உலகோர்கள் எல்லாம் அண்ணல் இராமானுசன் வந்து தோன்றிய
அப்பொழுதே நண்ணரு ஞானம் தலைக்கொண்டு நாரணற்கு ஆயினரே.

On Sahasrabdi poorthi (1001)  sarrumurai  day, in the evening it was big Mangalagiri purappadu.  For all Acaryars and Alwars on their sarrumurai day occurs purappadu with Sri Parthasarathi (or Sri Varadhar / Sri Thelliya Singar) – however, for Swami – it is purappadu for Him alone, though last year  in a  redefined  scale of grandeur ~ there was Swami Ramanujar – alongside his most desired disciple Swami Mudaliandan (for whom too it was Sarrumurai day – a rare occasion of Chithirai Thiruvathirai and Chithirai Punarvasu falling on the same day) ~ and ~ and – there was Sri Parthasarathi. 

Swami  Ramanuja stayed in Melukote for 12 years, changing the life of the people around.  He ensured appropriate rituals for Sri Cheluvanarayanar at the place which now boasts of great vidwans in Ubayavedantham; our Emperumanar  conducted kalakshepas inside the precincts of this glorious temple. In most places, scholars engaged in academic pursuits, do not usually take care of temple duties, and temple priests are not academically inclined. But in Melkote,  those on duty in the temple, as Vedic, Sanskrit scholars, well versed in divyaprabandham and granthams – selflessely at the service of Yathirajar and Cheluva Naranar. 

Our Acaryar Swami Manavala Mamunigal was so attached at the feet of Sri Ramanujar and here is a verse from his Yathiraja Vimsati – which according to our learned vidwans  came in to being as a result of the request of Swami Manavala Maminigal’s acharyan to compose a sthOthra grantham on Sri Ramanujar, when Mamunigal was a  grahasthar and had the name of Azhagiya MaNavALa NaayanAr.   These twenty verses constitute one of the most beautiful appeals to RaamAnujA for conferring his anugraham.

Sri BhattanAtha parakAla mukhAbhja Mitram

Mamunigal draws comparison to   King Swan at the feet of Sriranganatha,  great beetle settled to drink honey at the feet of  Nammalvar, Sun who makes the lotuses blossom – I fall at the feet of Sri Kuresa, who is lthe mark of Srivatsa, Yatiraja – I worship. Mamunigal eulogises  the emperor of SanyAsis , RamAnujA , who has chosen the lotus feet of Sri RangarAja as the seat of his permanent residence , just as a king swan would seek a beautiful lotus for its place of rest .

Ramanuja was one of those visionaries  who made us realize the importance of harnessing waters in remote villages. He built a few and renovated many temple tanks right in the middle of Thirunarayanapuram, which not only ensured water for temple, but also for drinking and irrigation.   The crowning glory is  the 2,200 acre temple tank at Tondanur, called Tonnur Kere about 20 km from Melkote,  that provides  water to 70 villages for the last 1000 years.

Hail Ramanuja ~ we fall at the feet of our Acaryar who will take care of us.

Today  21st Apr 2018 is a grand day -  Emperumanar 960 was grandly celebrated in 1977 – one may not have good memory of that;  last year it was 1000 and this year 1001 – the modern day equipment & technology  ensure capture by way of photos and videos of the grand celebrations  at Thiruvarangam, Thirumala, Thirukachi, Sriperumpudur, Melukote Thiruvallikkeni and at many many more places.

இன்று நன்னாள் ~ எம்பெருமானார் அவதார திருநாள் .. இராமானுசர் 1001 இன்று . .. நமது பாரததேசம் புண்ணிய பூமி.  ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவர்களான நமக்கு வேதமும், ஆசார்யர்களுமே பிரதானம். தினமும் நாம் அநுஸந்திக்கும் தனியனில் எம்பெருமானையும், ஆழ்வார்களையும்,  எம்பெருமானாரையும், நமது ஓராண்வழி ஆசார்யர்களையும் தொழுது - ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனுக்கே அடிபணிபவர்கள் நாம்.  தீமனம் கெடுத்து, ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனை தொழும் மனமே தந்து, அறியாதன அறிவித்து, பரமபுருஷனைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கும் ஆச்சார்யர் மிக உயர்ந்தவர்.  அவர் நமக்கு உலாவும் பெருமான். ஆச்சார்ய ரத்னஹாரத்தில் நடுநாயகர் ஆன நம் சுவாமி எம்பெருமானார் சாற்றுமுறை -

சித்திரையில் செய்ய திருவாதிரை -  இன்று,  இந்த நல்லுலகமே  எதிர்பார்த்து காத்து இருந்த ~  சீரிய நாள் - ஒப்புயர்வற்ற நம்மிராமாநுச முனியின்  ஆயிரத்து ஒன்றாம் ஆயிரமாவது பிறந்த நாள் சாற்றுமுறை. திருவல்லிக்கேணி  வீதிதனிலே அத்யாபகர்கள் 'வாழிய ராமானுஜன்; அவரடித் தாளினை வழி' என விஜயீ  பவ ; விஜயீ  பவ ; விஜயீ பவா  எத்சரிகை' என 'வெள்ளை விசிறி'  [தங்கள் உத்தரீவங்களை விசிறி] ஆர்ப்பரித்தனர்.

Of the three great exponents of Vedanta philosophy, Bhagwad Ramanuja with his aesthetic beautiful interpretations occupies the central place.  Sri Ramanujar has the pride of place in the list of our Acharyars; he is hailed as Udayavar, Emperumanar, Bashyakarar, Ilayazhwaar, Yathirajar, Thiruppavai Jeeyar, Num Kovil annan, amongst other names was born in the year 1017 at Sri Perumpudur on ‘Thiruvathirai’ thirunakshathiram in the month of Chithirai.  Last year Udayavar sarrumurai assumed greater significance for it was  His millennium year – and now  it is 1001 years since he descended on earth  at Sriperumpudur.  [Chithiraiyil seyya Thiruvathirai]

Our darsana Sthapakar, Sri Ramanujar  rightly reverred as ‘Yathi Rajar’ ~ the king among yathis [hermits and sages], the  greatest reformer he was, Ramanuja gave us many vedantic treatises - toured the entire Country, making the Srivaishnavatie tradition flourish in all his path.  He was a great administrator too. Our Acharyar formulated a faith in which none were devoid of Divine Grace.  The great social reformer, had the vision of introducing most acceptable way of life for every baktha inculcating respect and love among fellow human beings.  Today we talk of codes and SOPs – thousand years ago, this Great Acharyar  gave us Niyamanappadi ~ the manual for the services to be performed in the Temple, all supported by endowements in his blue book.  When Sri Ramanujar went to Melukote, he was 82 and he returned to Thiruvarangam at ripe age of 94. – and more was to happen in Srirangam, guided by his indomitable spirit of service to Lord. He created flawless systems, corrected the administration of Sri Rangam ensuring the proper maintenance of the wealth of Lord Ranganatha and creating teams to properly continue all kainkaryams to the Lord. 


                      The fountain of knowledge, he was,  handed over to the generation his wealth of knowledge through his many works which include the Magnum Opus ‘Sri Bashyam – the Vishishtavaida commentary of Brahma sutram of Vyasa Bhagavan.; Vedantha Deepam, Vedanta Saram, Vedanta Sangraham, Gadyathrayam and many many more …. The  3 Gadyams – Saranagati Gadyam, Sriranga Gadyam and Vaikunda Gadyam are collectively known as ‘Gadyatraya’.

The  3 Gadyams – Saranagati Gadyam, Sriranga Gadyam and Vaikunda Gadyamcollectively known as ‘Gadyatraya’ are in someways considered to be swan song of our Acharyar.  The Saranagati Gadyam is live exposition of the doctrine of ‘prapatti’ – the total saranagati.  Sri Ramanujar prays that thee Lord may be pleased to bless his sincere and true saranagati at the lotus feet of Srimannathan be accepted as truly and well-performed and lead to the desired end without any interruption.  Our Acharyar describes the unique qualities of NamPerumal  with words ‘Sathyakama, Sathyasankalpa’ which would mean the most loveable quality of resolve to protect His devotees and the will to be incarnated in any form to come to the succour of devotees – He is Creator, Protector and Sustainer. Today after morning purappadu (of which photos are posted here) – there was mangalasasanam, rendering of Gadyatrayam ~ then Thirumanjnam, Thirumozhi sarrumurai .. and .. ..

Let us fall at the lotus feet of our Acharyar which only  will relieve us of all our sins and steer us towards good thinking, good deeds and towards salvation through service to Lord and His bakthas.   Some photos taken this morning during the Emperumanar purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni are posted here :


இன்று 21.4.2018 -  சித்திரையில் செய்ய திருவாதிரை நந்நாள்.  நம் ஆச்சார்யன் இவ்வுலகத்தில் வந்துதித்த சீரிய நாள். செங்கயல் வாவிகள் சீர்வயல்கள் சூழ்ந்த ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூரில் இளையாழ்வார் எனும் ராமானுஜர் அவதரித்த நந்நாள்.  எம்பெருமானாரின் பிறப்பு உலகத்தவர்கள் உடனே பெறுதற்கான  நண்ணறு ஞானத்தை அனைவருக்கும் அருளி அவர்களை ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன் இடத்தில் பக்தி செலுத்துமாறு மாற்றிய அவதார திருநாள்.   

உடையவர் ஒரு தலை சிறந்த நிர்வாகி.  ஸ்ரீரங்கம் கோவிலின் நிர்வாகத்தை முற்றிலும் சீர்படுத்தி தென்னரங்கனின் செல்வத்தை காப்பாற்றினவர் * பாரத தேசம் முழுதும் யாத்திரை சென்று "ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனின் பரத்வத்தை" நிலை நாட்டினவர். ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவத்தை பாரெங்கும் பரப்பினவர்.   ஸ்ரீபாஷ்யம், வேதாந்த தீபம், வேதாந்த ஸாரம், வேதார்த்த ஸங்க்ரஹம், பகவத் கீதா பாஷ்யம், கத்யத்ரயம் ஆகிய கிரந்தங்களை உடையவர் அருளிச் செய்தார்.   ஸ்ரீ பாஷ்யம் அவரது தலை சிறந்த படைப்பு. வியாச   பகவானின் ப்ருஹ்ம  சூத்திரத்துக்கு விசிஷ்டாத்வைத பிரமாணமாய் கீதா பாஷ்யம் இயற்றினார். பிரபத்தி என்கிற சரண் புகுதலை பற்றி சரணாகதி கத்யம், ஸ்ரீ ரங்கநாதரை தன்னை தாசனாக கொள்ளும்படி ஸ்ரீரங்ககத்யம், மஹாவிஷ்ணுவின் இருப்பிடத்தை விவரிக்கும் வைகுண்ட கத்யம் என்பன இவரது பிற நூல்கள். 

                                லோகோபகாரியாராகிய இராமானுசர் நமக்கு ஆதாரமாகவும் சக்தியளிப்பவராகவும்  ரக்ஷகருமாகவும் இருப்பார் என்பது சுவாமி கூரேசர் வாக்கு. ஸ்ரீ வைஷ்ணவர்களுக்கு அவரது பிறந்த நாள் அதி விசேஷம். இந்நாளை சித்திரையில் ஆதிரை நாள் சிறக்க வந்தோன் வாழியே ( சித்திரை மாதம் திருவாதிரை நட்சத்திரம் பெருமை கொள்ளும் படி அதில் பிறந்தவன் வாழ்க); சீர் பெரும்பூதூர் முனிவன் திருவடிகள் வாழியே (எல்லா சிறப்பும் கொண்ட திருப்பெரும்பூதூரில் பிறந்த இராமானுச முனிவனின் திருவடிகள் வாழ்க வாழ்க.) என வைஷ்ணவர்கள் மகிழ்வர். இன்றும் எல்லா வைஷ்ணவ தலங்களிலும் சேவாகாலம் முடியும் போது "ராமானுஜார்ய திவ்யாக்ஞா - வர்ததாம் அபிவர்ததாம்" என அவரது கட்டளைகள் சிறப்புற நடைமுறையில் உள்ளதை பாராட்டுவர். 

இவ்வுலகில் இனிஒன்றும் எண்ணாதே  நெஞ்சே ! இரவுபகல் எதிராசர் எமக்கினி மேலருளும் ....எனநம்  ஆச்சார்யர்க்கு ஆளாவோம் நாம்.. பெரியகடலை போன்ற கருணைகொண்ட இராமானுஜர் திருவடிகளை தாள்பணிவோர்க்கு எல்லாநலமும் பெருகும்.  அவரைப்பற்றி சிந்திப்போர்க்கு எண்ணங்கள் தேனூறி என்றென்றும் தித்திக்கும் !   

இன்று  காலை - உடையவர் சாற்றுமுறை சிறப்பாக நடை பெற்றது. காலை புறப்பாட்டில் உடையவர் அழகிய பல்லக்கில் எழுந்து அருளினார்.   காலை புறப்பாட்டில் ஸ்தோத்ர பாடல் கோஷ்டி ஆனது. எம்பெருமானார் பிறந்த நாளை அத்யாபக சுவாமிகள் மேல் உத்தரீவத்தை விண்ணை நோக்கி விசிறி ஆர்ப்பரித்து கொண்டாடினர்.
