Today 15.6.2020 is ‘Aani Revathi’ – in normal days, there would have been chinna mada veethi purappadu of Sri Ranganathar. 

செம்ம காமெடி ! -  நாம் நகைச்சுவையை நன்றாக ரசித்தால் , விலா நோக சிரிப்போம் .. ..         இதோ இங்கே தொண்டரடிப்பொடிகளின் திருமாலை பாசுரம் :

உள்ளத்தே  உறையும் மாலை உள்ளுவான்  உணர்வொன்றில்லா*

கள்ளத்தேன் நானும் தொண்டாய்த் தொண்டுக்கே கோலம் பூண்டு*

உள்ளுவார்  உள்ளிற்றெல்லாம் உடனிருந்து   அறிதியென்று

வெள்கிப்போய்   என்னுள்ளே  நான் விலவறச்   சிரித்திட்டேனே.

Today TN CM is meeting Medical Council, Ministers and others discussing the present situation in Tamilnadu and the actions to be initiated.  Amid rumours of Chennai heading towards another lockdown doing the rounds on social media, the Madras High Court on Thursday asked the government pleader why a complete lockdown can’t be implemented in the city to control the continuing rise in the number of cases.  Perhaps a strict and stringent lockdown at least in Chennai city and couple of other districts is the need of hour ! – Chennaites have displayed utter callousness and lack of civic sense in throwing caution into wind and moving around with gay abandon – making it spread rapidly.  People are suffering, yet many have not understood !  Sad, is the plight of people like us, who have been following all instructions and confined ourselves to homes.

Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain’s announcement of not extending the lockdown left resident welfare associations (RWAs) disappointed on Friday, even as traders remained divided over the issue with some even conducting surveys to decide if markets should stay shut. With Covid-19 cases rising, speculation was rife that the government could impose the lockdown again in some form. Talking to reporters on Friday, Jain, however, said, “No, the lockdown will not be extended any further in Delhi.” Jain’s statement came at a time when some markets, especially the wholesale ones, are contemplating shutting down for the time being. The demand grew louder ever since the Delhi government on Tuesday said the Capital had hit the community transmission stage. The ICMR and the Centre, however, have denied it as of now. In June so far, the number of daily positive cases have oscillated between 990 and 1877.

Tamil Nadu on Sunday recorded 1,974 new Covid-19 cases and 38 deaths taking the total case count of the state close to the 45,000-mark to touch 44,661, the state health department said. The death toll in Tamil Nadu rose to 435, with the addition of the 38 latest fatalities due to the infectious coronavirus disease. On Saturday, the state had recorded the highest single-day spike in its Covid-19 tally with 1,989 positive cases. Tamil Nadu is the second worst-hit state by the coronavirus pandemic reporting a large number of Covid-19 positive patients, preceded only by Maharashtra which has over 1 lakh coronavirus cases.

Miles away in the eye of storm, the wholesale food market at the centre of the latest coronavirus outbreak in Beijing has been closed down. Out of the blue, a rush of coronavirus cases of unknown origin struck Beijing on the weekend, pushing new cases in the country to a two-month high.  The fresh outbreak in the nation’s capital came as a shock, with President Xi Jinping last month applauding the country’s efforts to turn the tide of the epidemic.

People are reminded of historical happenings ! – mankind has suffered diseases and have lost millions.  The Black Death, also known as the Pestilence and the Great Mortality, was the most fatal pandemic recorded in human history, resulting in the deaths of up to 75–200 million people in Eurasia and North Africa, peaking in Europe from 1347 to 1351. Plague, the disease caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, was the cause; the Black Death was the beginning of the second plague pandemic.  It  most likely originated in Central Asia or East Asia from where it travelled along the Silk Road, reaching Crimea by 1347. From there, it was most likely carried by fleas living on the black rats that travelled on Genoese merchant ships, spreading throughout the Mediterranean Basin and reaching Africa, Western Asia, and the rest of Europe via Constantinople, Sicily, and the Italian Peninsula.  Once  it came onshore, the Black Death was in large part spread by human fleas – which cause pneumonic plague – and the person-to-person contact via aerosols which pneumonic plague enables, thus explaining the very fast inland spread of the epidemic, which was faster than would be expected if the primary vector was rat fleas causing bubonic plague.

எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணன்  எங்கும் நிறைந்து இருப்பவன்.  அவன் வெளியே மட்டுமல்ல ! - நம் உள்ளத்துக்கு  உள்ளேயும் உறைபவன்.  நெஞ்சினுள்ளே வாஸஞ்செய்கிற எம்பெருமானாகிய  அவனை, கள்ளனாகிய அடியேனும், அவனது  அடிமையிலேயே அந்வயித்தவனாய், அவ்வடிமைக்கு உரிய வேஷங்களை அணிந்து இருந்தபோதிலும், சிந்திப்பவர்கள் சிந்திப்பதெல்லாவற்றையும்  சிந்திப்பதற்குறுப்பான அறிவு சிறிதும் இல்லாத நான் - அந்த எம்பெருமான் எப்பொழுதும் என் கூடவே இருக்கிறான் என்பதை உணராதலால்  மிகவும் வெட்கப்பட்டு விலவு அற சிரித்திட்டேன் என்கிறார் தொண்டரடிப்பொடிகள்.

கொரோனா தொற்றால் உலகமே ஆடிப்போய்விட்டது.  நமது தேசத்தில் பொது முடக்குதல் உத்தரவால் 80 நாட்களுக்கு மேலாக வெளியே செல்ல இயலவில்லை.  நமது கோவில்களும் மூடப்பட்டுள்ளன ! - உத்சவங்கள் வீதி புறப்பாடுகள் கிடையாது.  நம் எம்பெருமானை எப்படி வணங்குவது ? எம்பெருமான் அர்ச்சாவதார ரூபியாய் நமக்கு திவ்யதேசங்களில் அருள் பாலிக்கிறார்.  எனினும் நாம் ஓரிடம்தேடி ஓடவேண்டாதபடி நம்ஹ்ருதயத்திலுள்ளே எப்போதும் வந்து நெருங்கியிருக்கிற எளிமையனான  எம்பெருமானை சிந்தைசெய்வதற்கு ஏற்ற அறிவுஇல்லாத ஆத்மாவாக நாம் உள்ளோம்.  இதையே திருமாலை பாசுரத்திலே கூறி தொண்டரடிப்பொடி ஆழ்வார் - விலவற சிரித்திட்டேனே என்கிறார் !!
