Wallajah
– at the beginning of the second half of 18th century, was in the centre of political
battles involving British and the French
invaders, Nawab of Arcot helped the
British and in return got title of honour "Walajah" meaning
the most dignified gentleman. In this
Taluk, lies the famous divyadesam of Sholinghur.
Garuda Seva
during the annual Brahmothsavam of Sri Devathirajar of Thirukachi is grand, majestic and has special
significance with its link with
Sholinghur because of Swami Doddayachaaryar.
I had earlier posted on how even in Kali
Yuga – Perumal had direct interaction with Thirukachi Nambigal and our
Thoddachar Swami, whose lineage is doing great kainkaryam to Sri Akkarakkani
Emperuman at Cholasimhapuram. On a Garuda seva day, when Swami
Thoddayachar was taken ill and could not have darshan at Kanchipuram, Emperuman
flew all the way to give darshan to the Acharyar on the banks of tank [Thakkan
kulam] at the foothills of the hill.
Sholingur is a small
town ~ for Srivaishnavaites a great Divyadesam housing Sri Yoga Narasimha temple on a hill; Sri Yoga Anjaneyar
on another hill and the temple of Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar. Inside the temple there is sannathi of Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal, in front of whose sannathi,
Sri Bakthochithar [Sri Bakthavathsala Perumal @ Thakkan @ Akkarakkani
Emperuman] sannathi is there. This place is around 90kms west of Madras ( about 25kms from Arakkonam
and 40kms from Tiruttani). This place
was part of Chola dynasty.
Colloquially Sholinghur,
it is Chola Simhapuram (Sholingapuram) also known as Kadigachalam, where the
Lord gave darsan to the Saptharishi. In Karthigai Sundays people come here, take
bath at Chakkra Theertham (Thakkan kulam) ascend 1305 odd steps and worship
Yoga Narasimhar. The Lord is glorified as ‘Akkarakkani’ ~
meaning the sweetest fruit by Thirumangai mannan.
The first 2 photos
depict the Yoga Narasimhar temple atop the hill ~ the rest are taken at Sri
Lakshmi Narasimhar thirukovil in the city.
Sri Bakthochitan with Ubayanachimar is also posted.
Adiyen Srinivasadhasan.
