Today 8th Feb 2016 is the 9th day of Sri Parthasarathi
Brahmothsavam – Theerthavari. I had posted about the symbolic
search whence Perumal Himself comes incognito, covered with ‘sheets’ (போர்வைகள்).
It is an exceptional day as the devotee can have so much
varied darshan – first Aelmel pallakku purappadu
covered with many sheets, then for a brief while, then for a few minutes after
Porvai kalaithal vaibuam, Thirmeni of
the Perumal with a single strand jasmine garland; then Perumal has some garlands – at vahana
mantap, Perumal comes out of the Pallakku, has purappadu in Tholukku Iniyiaan –
at entrance of temple, there would be ‘ mattaiyadi’ – the ‘pranaya
kalaham’ arising out of the celestial bonds between ‘Thayar and Perumal’
with Ubaya Nachimar and Perumal engrossed in wordy duel.
After this in the afternoon is the ‘ Theerthavari ‘ at
Thiruvadi kovil. Here are some photos showing – Perumal with Porvai,
immediately after porvai kalaithal, with garlands, purappadu in Tholukku Iniyan
– all on day 9.
Adiyen Srinivasa dhasan.
