பண்டமாம் பரமசோதி ~ Sapthavaranam - Vettiver thiruther 2020

பொதுவாக மனித இனமும் உலகமும் ஒரு நாள் அழியும்.  அதுவே பிரளயம் என பல நம்பிக்கைகள் உள்ளன.   பூலோகம் வெள்ளத்தினால் அழியுமெனவும், பூகம்பம் உள்ளிட்டவையால் அழியும் என்பது அனைவரும் கருதக் கூடியது.  கடல்கோள் ஏற்பட்டு குமரிக்கண்டம் அழிந்ததைப் பற்றி தமிழ் இலக்கியங்கள் கூறுகின்றன.  வெள்ளம், புயல், நெருப்பு, ஆழிப் பேரலை எனும் சுனாமி போன்ற இயற்கைச் சீற்றங்கள் தவிர, போர்கள், அணு ஆயுத தாக்குதல்கள் என மனித இனம் அழியலாம் என சிலர் ஆருடம் கூறினார்.  முன்னாளில் பஞ்சமும், கொள்ளை நோய்களும் மனித இனத்தை தாக்கின.  இப்போது உலகையே அச்சுறுத்துவது 'கொரோனா' எனும் நுண்ணியிரி தாக்கம்.

ஆழ்வார்கள் பக்தியில் ஆழ்ந்து திளைத்தவர்கள்.  ஆசார்யர்கள் நம்மை எம்பெருமானிடத்திலே கொண்டு சேர்ப்பவர்கள்.  எம்பெருமானை அடைய என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற கேள்விக்கு - நம்மாழ்வாரின் திருவாய்மொழி பாசுரத்தை கூறலாம்.  "ஒழிவில் காலமெல்லாம் உடனாய் மன்னி வழுவிலாவடிமை செய்யவேண்டும்,  நாம்".  எம்பெருமானை தொழுது அவருக்கும் அவரது அடியார்களுக்கும் பணிவிடைகள், கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்தலே போதுமானது.  ஆனால் இந்த கொடிய கொரானா நோய் நம்மை பெருமாளை காணவும் விடாமல் அல்லவா தடுத்துள்ளது !! என்ன ஒரு கொடுமை !  உத்சவமும், புறப்பாடும் நமக்கு எவ்வளவு ஆனந்தம் தரும் .. ..

Most theories of World coming to an end would point to ‘flood’ or the ‘deluge’ encompassing Nations, killing millions of people.  Floods, cyclones, earthquakes, tsunami, plague, wars, nuclear threat have all been the most feared ones by the mankind.  2020 has added a new threat – the Corona virus, Covid 19 emanating from Wuhan, China.   There are theories that pandemics are striking with greater frequency primarily because of deforestation, environmental degradation, rapid urbanisation, overpopulation, migration and growing animal and human conflict.  

It’s a question the world is asking: When – and how -- will this pandemic end? The answer is not simple, and it depends on which expert you speak to. But the overall medical consensus appears to be that a real end to the COVID-19 outbreak will have to wait till a vaccine is developed – and that could well be 2021 !

Heard of ‘Chrysopogonzizanioides’ and wonder what is has to do with a Temple related post, especially one on the last day of Brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni.  Today (8.7.2020) should have been the  10^th day – Sapthavaranam and siriya thiruther of Sri Azhagiya Singar Aani brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam.

On the concluding day of Brahmothsavam is ‘Sapthavaranam’ and purappadu in Siriya Thiruther [the small chariot] -   famously known as ‘Vettiver Chapparam’… The entire Thiruvaimozhi is rendered at the mantap with  all Azhvar, Acaryar and Emperumans.  It is an exceptional site to have darshan of five Emperumans at one place ~ and at around 8.45 pm, Alwars, Acaryas and Perumals will have  purappadu back to their sannathi. At 9.30 pm Sri Azhagiyasingar would have  purappadu  – whence Thiruvarangathu Amuthanaar’s ‘ Ramanuja Noorranthathi’ would be  rendered. In olden days, this purappadu would take place midnight.. ..

திருமங்கை மன்னனின் திருக்குறுந்தாண்டகம் ஒரு அற்புத பிரபந்தம்.  இறைவனைப் பெருநிதியாக வர்ணித்து மாந்தர்களாகிய நமக்கு எது செல்வம், எது உயர்ந்தது, நாம் என் செய்ய வேண்டும் என போதிப்பது !! ~ இங்கே ஒரு பாசுரம் : 

தொண்டெல்லாம் பரவி நின்னைத் தொழுதடி பணியு மாறு

கண்டு, தான் கவலை தீர்ப்பான் ஆவதே பணியாய்  எந்தாய்,

அண்டமாய்  எண்டிசைக்கும் ஆதியாய் நீதியான,

பண்டமாம் பரமசோதி நின்னையே பரவுவேனே.

நாங்கள் செய்த பாவங்களையெல்லாம் மன்னித்து, எங்களை என்றென்றும் காப்பாற்றும் எம்பெருமானே !  உன்னிடத்தில் பணிந்து, உனக்கு எல்லாவகையான அடிமைகளையும் (கைங்கர்யங்களையும்)  செய்யவேணும்;  உன்னையே வணங்கி,   உன் பெருமைகளையே பேசி, உந்தன் திருவடிகளிலே பணிவிடை செய்யும்படிகளை மநோரதித்து,  உன்னை கண்ணாரக்கண்டு தொழுவதே  என் மனக்கவலைகளை தீர்க்க வல்லது.               

                                      அண்டங்களிலுள்ளாரெல்லார்க்கும் தலைவனாய்,  எட்டுத் திசைகளிலுள்ள தேவதைகட்கும் காரணபூதனாய், முறைமையான செல்வமாயிருப்பவனான பரஞ்சோதியே! நின்னையே  ஸ்தோத்ரம் பண்ணுவேன்.  எங்களை என்றென்றும் காப்பீராக !

ஸ்ரீவைணவர்களான நமக்கு கிடைத்தற்கரிய நிதி - நம் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன் மட்டுமே!  -

Last year (2019) due to an asantharpam, it was the shortest purappadu – no thiruther.  Sri Azhagiya Singar emerged from the eastern Gate in front of Sri Nammalwar sannathi, had purappadu in south Mada street and reached His sannathi through the western gate.  ~  and sadly, this year No Brahmothsavam !!

 ‘Vettiver Chapparam’…  the scientific name of  vetti ver is  - ‘Chrysopogon zizanioides’, a type of grass of Poaceae family, native to India.  Also known as ‘khus’ Vettiver can grow up to 1.5 metres high and form clumps as wide. This Ther is known as ‘Vettiver Chapparam’ – for there used to be so many sheets made of this grass placed on the temple car.  One could feel the divine fragrance from a distance itself.
