For Srivaishnavaites, the
month of Aadi is of special significance – as Thiruvadipuram [Puram
Nakshathiram in the month of Aadi] – is the most blessed day for
all Srivaishnavaites – marking the birth of Kothai Piratti [Andal]
Andal’s birth occurred in
the 98th year of Kali Yuga – Nala Varudam – in the month of Aadi – shukla
paksham – chathurthasi day. She was found in a thulsi garden
at Sri Villiputhur by Vishnu Chithar [Periyazhwaar].
This year Thiruvadipuram
falls on Wednesday, 26th July 2017. The 10 day Thiruvadipura
Uthsavam commenced on 17th July and today [19th July] is day 3.
During Thiruvadipuram, on all days there is chinna mada veethi purappadu of Sri
Andal in the evenings. Today being
Ekadasi day, it was Periya mada veethi; however the rain clouds made everyone
dream of a huge downpour which eventually was only light drizzle, made it a
quick purappadu. Here are some photos of Sri Parthasarathi and Sri Andal draped in
red cloth to ensure that raindrops do not fall on Lord. The photos without porvai are courtesy Sri
Thirumalai Vinjamoor Venkatesh (Jilla) Swamin.
