Today (9.3.2020) is
a great day ~ Masi Magam – a day on which the Ocean (Bay of Bengal) becomes
much happier – for Sri Parthasarathi Perumal visits Bay of Bengal at Marina
beach. There used to be thirumanjanam
on the shores ~ this morning there was Chakrathazhwar theerthavari.
Today is full moon (Pournami) – in the morning it was Garuda Sevai and in the evening SEsha Vahanam. Full moon is too inspiring.

Chandrayaan-3 will
be launched in the first half of 2021, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said,
indicating that there could be a slight delay in the launch of the third moon
mission. In the Lok Sabha, the Minister said four biological and two physical science
experiments related to microgravity will be conducted during the Gaganyaan
project, India's manned mission to space. Singh said the revised configuration
takes care of the robustness in design, capacity enhancement for mission
flexibility and at the same time retained the heritage of Chandrayaan-II to the
extent possible. Chandrayaan-II
hard-landed on lunar surface last year. The Indian Space Research Organisation
had then resolved to launch the project again.
Today is Full Moon day (Pournami in Tamil) – it is
full moon day in the month of Masi. Our celestial satellite (moon) is approximately 248,548 miles (400,000km) from
Earth. The Moon orbits Earth in a sightly elliptical orbit, which means our
satellite consequently always has a point during its 27.3 day orbit when it is
at its distant point from Earth. Today’s
moon is very special. Based on the
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s
(PAGASA) astronomical diary in March, the full moon this month has the second
closest distance to earth this year at 358,258 kilometers (km). The Moon is not
always the same distance away from Earth. The orbit is not a perfect circle.
The Full Moon
(pournami) is the most spectacular Moon
phase when the entire face of the Moon is lit up. At Full Moon, the entire face
of the Moon is illuminated by the Sun's rays and it can be bright enough to
light up otherwise dark nights. Though the moon is our closest, most familiar
celestial neighbor, the question of how it formed is surprisingly unsettled and
controversial. Scientists widely agree that about 4.5 billion years ago, a
large object called Theia slammed into Earth—an idea known as the giant impact
hypothesis. What happened next is up for debate, however. Some scientists favor
a “classical” model, where the impact created a lot of debris that gradually
clumped together into the moon, while Earth was left intact. Others favour more
radical models, such as Earth and Theia vaporizing and producing a
doughnut-shaped ring of superheated debris known as a synestia that eventually
formed our planet and its natural satellite.
Moving away, for us
Srivaishnavas, kainkaryam unto Him is the purpose of life. Of those who render service to MahaVishnu,
Ananthan – the AdiSesha serves Him in the best possible manner that one could
visualize. Our Boothath Azhwar urges us
all to chant His name always ! .. .. He
laments to say that those who allow themselves to forget His names are not
human beings worthy of a birth in this World.
Lord Senkanmal is the only Saviour.
Always firmly believe that Madhava is the bearer of Dharma – we need to
follow Dharma and make it habit to chant His names ever.
