Today
5th March 2015 is ‘Pournami’ in the month of Masi ~ the holy
occasion of Masi Magam whence the sea and water bodies are consecrated with the
divine intervention of deities. On Masi
Magam day, at various places, Gods visit waterbodies – at Thiruvallikkeni
divyadesam, there was no purappadu due to Balalayam.
Bathing
in sea on these days is considered sacred ~ necessarily after having a
purificatory bath at home and then at Sea.
Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal Devasthanam popularly
‘Kesava Perumal Kovil’ is near Mylai Kapaleeswarar Temple. The
temple tank is Chandra pushkarini (sarva theertham) popularly known as
Chithirai kulam. The presiding deity here is Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal and
thayar is Mayuravalli – the place itself was historically known as
‘Mayurapuri’. The temple is quite ancient and dates back to centuries. During
Ekkattu Thangal Purappadu, Sri Parthasarathi Perumal visits this Temple and has
mandagapadi here.
This morning
Kesava Perumal on Garuda Vahanam visited the Vanga Kadal [shores of Bay Bengal]
near Pattinapakkam Srinivasapuram.
Perumal from the nearby Sri Vedanta Desikar DEvasthanam also visited the same place.
Hundreds of devotees accompanied Perumal and had bath in the sea. Here are some photos taken this morning.
