Thiruvallikkeni - Iraapathu Uthsavam 9 : 1st Jan 2013 -
திருவல்லிக்கேணி இராப்பத்து உத்சவம் 9
The 2nd
day of Jan 2013 marked the culmination of the 10 day Irapathu Uthsavam and the
glorious legend of ‘Swami Nammalwar Thiruvadi Thozhuthal’.
Legend
has it that this Uthsavam hailing the significance of ‘Thiruvaimozhi’ of
Nammazhwar, known as ‘Thiruvaimozhi Thirunaal’ was being celebrated right from
the times of Thirumangai Mannan to Nathamunigal; the Pagal Pathu was a later
addition to provide equal significance to other Divyaprabandhams. In all the 10 days during Thiru veethi
purappadu, ‘Upadesa Rathinamalai’ of Swami Manavala Mamunigal is recited by the
Divyaprabandha goshti. After the
purappadu, daily one hundred from Thiruvaimozhi were being rendered
everyday.
On
day 10, it was the last canto ‘Patham Pathu’ of Swami Nammalwar, which speaks
of ‘entering Vaikundam’ by all ‘vaikuntham puguvathu mannavar vithiye’ says
Nammalwar.
Today
in the veethi purappadu, Sri Parthasarathi with most stunning floral
decorations shone with glittering jewels. A beautifully made kireedam made with flowers,
in the shape known as ‘prabanna pagai’ adorned Lord Parthasarathi and got
beautified by the beauty of Perumal.
Here are some photos taken during the purappadu.
