ஸ்ரீ வைஷ்ணவ ஸம்ப்ரதாயத்தில் அடிப்படை நாதம் -  சரணாகதி - எம்பெருமானே, நீயே சரண் என அவன் கழலிணை பற்றுதல்.  இவற்றில் அதிகம்  கொண்டாடப்படும் விருத்தாந்தங்கள் -  கஜேந்திரன் சரணாகதி, விபீஷ்ண சரணாகதி, திரௌபதி சரணாகதி போன்றவை.    கஜேந்திர மோக்ஷ வரலாற்றை கேட்டாலே மிகவும் புண்ணியம் என்று பெரியோர்கள் கூறுவர்.  

சாபமும் சாபவிமோசனமும் புராணங்களில் வரும் நிகழ்வுகள். சாபம் என்பது எப்போதுமே பிரக்ஞையின் மேல்நிலையிலிருந்து கீழ்நிலைக்குத் தள்ளப்படுவது.  எம்பெருமானின் கருணையால்   விமோசனம் பெற்றதும்  மீண்டும் சுயநிலையை அடைவது நடக்கிறது.  

Crocodiles are large aquatic tetrapods that live throughout the tropics in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia.  Though there could be many biological varieties, broadly there are – the mugger, alligator and gharials. The  obvious trait of crocodiles is their long upper and lower jaws being  the same width, and teeth in the lower jaw fall along the edge or outside the upper jaw when the mouth is closed.  Crocodiles are ambush predators, waiting for fish or land animals to come close, then rushing out to attack.  They can attack and harm humans too.    

In Aroostook County, Maine, Fish and Game officer Walt Lawson is scuba diving in Black Lake when he is suddenly attacked and bitten in half by an unknown creature. The next day, Sheriff Hank Keough, Fish and Game officer Jack Wells, and American Museum of Natural History paleontologist Kelly Scott go to the lake to investigate the incident with mythology professor and crocodile enthusiast Hector Cyr joining them …. .. .. the search becomes horrendous !! 

The foregoing is the plot of ‘Lake Placid’ an horror film released in 1999, written by David Kelley and directed by  Steve Miner.  It was the first of the series of Lack Placid film series .. ..  in which a giant crocodile terrorizes the fictional location of Black lake, Maine, with a group of Police and Scientists attempting to capture or kill the beast.    

Nearer home, heavy  rains and steady inflows into River Krishna is leaving residents in many villages along the river banks in Wanaparty, Gadwal and Narayanpet districts a worried lot. Though there is no giant crocodile prowling about on the lines of the popular ‘Lake Placid’ movie, the sheer number of crocodiles venturing out into agriculture fields make them feel threatened.  Residents say an increasing number of crocodiles are hitting the shore for basking under the sun at many locations. During summer, crocodiles stay deep in the river. At times, they are venturing into agricultural fields, ponds and other water bodies as well, which has become a regular phenomenon during monsoon.

During normal days, the Forest department gets two to three complaints a month about crocodiles venturing into water bodies or fields. The number goes up, sometimes to 10 a month, during floods   !!!! Crocodiles are awful !!!

                                         On  1^st Aug 2023    occurred grand purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni ……  even a child would know having heard so many times the puranic legend of ‘Gajendra moksham [salvation of elephant Gajendra]’ ~ whence   Lord Maha Vishnu Himself  came down to earth to protect Gajendra (elephant) from the death clutches of Makara (Crocodile).   It also offers us great learning – the  otherwise mighty elephant too could get into difficulty and in its extreme distress the elephant after testing its power and understanding  its futility, still had the presence of mind to think of  bhatki (devotion) and gnana (spiritual knowledge) ….. the plea of elephant was immediately answered by Lord Sriman Narayanan, who came rushing in to protect  His devotee – making the earthly human beings realise that if God does so for an elephant, He sure would protect  all of us too.  

உலகிலேயே  அதிக வலிமையுடன் கடிக்க வல்ல  பிராணி முதலை  என்று ஆராய்ச்சிகள் காட்டுகின்றன.  ஆஸ்திரேலியா பகுதியில்  வாழும் உப்புநீர் முதலைகளால் (Saltwater Crocodile) சிங்கம், புலியைவிட மூன்று மடங்கு அதிக வலிமையுடன் கடிக்க முடியுமாம்.  இவ்வளவு வலிமையான தாடைகளையும்  கூரிய பல்வரிசையையும் கொண்ட முதலைக்கு,  மனிதர்களின் விரல் நுனிகளில் இருக்கும் தொடு உணர்வைவிட முதலையின் வாயிலும் தாடையிலும் இருக்கும் தொடு உணர்வு மிக அதிகமாக இருக்கிறது. இயற்கையின் விந்தை - ஆண்டவன் படைப்பின் ஆச்சரியம் !!

 

பதகம்  என்ற வார்த்தை கேள்விப்பட்டதில்லை.  தமிழ் அகராதியில் தேடிய போது - பறவை ; பாதகம் ; ஊர்த்தொகுதி என்ற பொருட்களை கண்டேன்.  இது பாதகம் அல்லது வேறு  வடசொல் விகாரம்; எனக்   கொண்டால் சாபமாகிற பாபத்தையுடையவனென்று பொருள். 

In our sampradhayam – Gajendra moksham is a concept of salvation.  Sriman Narayana  appeared on Garuda vahanam and saved the elephant by killing the crocodile with his ‘Chakram’.   It also explains that one who falls under the divine feet of Lord seeking salvation will surely be taken care of.

பதக முதலைவாய்ப் பட்ட களிறு

கதறிக்  கைகூப்பி  என் கண்ணா! கண்ணாவென்ன

உதவப்  புள்ளூர்ந்து அங்கு  உறுதுயர் தீர்த்த

அதகன்  வந்து அப்பூச்சி காட்டுகின்றான்!   அம்மனே அப்பூச்சி காட்டுகின்றான்!  

மிகவும் மோசமான பாதிப்புகளை தர வல்ல, கூர்மையான பற்களையும், அபார வலிமையையும் உடைய  முதலையின்  வாயிலே அகப்பட்ட  ஸ்ரீகஜேந்த்ராழ்வான், வலியும் வருத்தமும் சோர  தன் தும்பிக்கையை தூக்கி பிளிறி,  என் கண்ணா கண்ணா  என  பலகாலழைக்க, அந்த யானைக்கு உதவ உடனேயே கருடப்புள்  மீது ஓடோடி வந்து அவ்வானையின்  வருத்தத்தை போக்கின மிடுக்கையுடையவன்  வருகின்றான் என்று ஆனந்திக்கிறார்.
