Sri Azhagiya Singar Thavana Uthsavam day 2 2020

For most of us life is a dull routine ~ it dawns, (many may not even get at the time of Sun rise) – the mundane routine starts, people have breakfast, go to offices, return home, eat dinner, sleep and again the next day starts ! – and suddenly changes came.  2020 has been different ! especially the past 3 months – life is one of fear and uncertainty – everyone has loads of time but mostly are depressed, life in a state of despair not knowing what to do !

Transient is the word that denotes - lasting for only a short time; temporary.  Lightning is transient ! Lightning is an electrical discharge caused by imbalances between storm clouds and the ground, or within the clouds themselves. Most lightning occurs within the clouds.  Lightning is extremely hot—a flash can heat the air around it to temperatures five times hotter than the sun’s surface.

The most read, most discussed, most feared word is ‘Covid 19’ that of Corona virus that has afflicted human kind badly and threaten to rise more.  President Jair Bolsonaro threatened on Friday to pull Brazil out of the World Health Organization after the UN agency warned governments about the risk of lifting lockdowns before slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus.  A new Brazilian record for daily Covid-19 fatalities pushed Brazil’s death toll past that of Italy late on Thursday, but Bolsonaro continues to argue for quickly lifting state isolation orders, arguing that the economic costs outweigh public health risks. In an editorial running the length of newspaper Folha de S.Paulo’s front page, the Brazilian daily highlighted that just 100 days had passed since Bolsonaro described the virus now “killing a Brazilian per minute” as “a little flu.”

How are we behaving ! ~ the lockdown imposed by Govt has not been properly followed especially in metropolitan cities with literates.  People roam in streets as if Corona would touch only others and would not come near them.  The coronavirus disease has not "exploded" in India, but the risk of that happening remains as the country moves towards unlocking its nationwide lockdown that was imposed in March to contain the Covid-19, according to a top WHO expert.

WHO Health Emergencies Programme Executive Director on Friday said the doubling time of the coronavirus cases in India is about three weeks at this stage.  There is confusion – there were some news that testing of samples for the coronavirus  was  stopped but  Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said it is not so, after a number of complaints from people who say they have symptoms but have not been able to find out if they are infected.   Amid reports of people facing difficulties in getting patients admitted to Covid hospitals, the Delhi government has issued an order that puts the onus on a hospital that is unable to provide treatment to transfer the patient elsewhere.  Delhi was one of the high red zone cluster where a religious gathering attendees had to be quarantined and that included many foreigners too !!

We hope and pray that the situation improves and people get back to normal lives. We pray to our Emperuman for the welfare of the World and for all of us. 

                                       At Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam, immediately after 7 day theppothsavam, commences  Thavana Uthsavam ~ this year the 5 day Thavana Uthsavam  commenced on 2.3.2020.  From 13.3.2020, it was  Thavana uthsavam for Sri Thelliya Singar.    On all the 3 days of Thavanothsavam, Sri Azhagiya Singar has different sarruppadi [Thirukolams] – day 1 is Kalinga Narthanam; day 2    ‘Murali Kannan’ – the flautist and day 3 Sri Venugopalan.

Lord Krishna was born in Mathura and grew up in Gokul, Govardhan, Vrindavan, the Braj bhoomi.  The legend is that when flowers were in full bloom during spring time, Krishna played the flute and all the senses of residents came together to create divinity and the gopis spontaneously danced with Krishna to that music of flute on the sands of the Yamuna and in the garden of Vrindavan.

One would well remember the Kannadasan song :

புல்லாங்குழல் கொடுத்த மூங்கில்களே – எங்கள் புருஷோத்தமன் புகழ் பாடுங்களே

வண்டாடும் கங்கை மலர்த் தோட்டங்களே - எங்கள் மதுசூதனன் புகழ் பாடுங்களே !

Lord Krishna the divine flautist enchants us all. Flute is a family of a musical instrument in the woodwind groupThis  year the 2^nd day of Thavana uthsavam had to the curtailed.  Generally at 5 15 pm Perumal would have ul-purappadu in bungalow in Murali Kannan thirukolam and by 0645 pm, there would be periya mada veethi purappadu.  But sadly, due to an unfortunate incident, Sri Azhagiya Singar started from bungalow around 0415 pm and returned to His sannathi immediately.

பயந்தும், கலங்கியும் உள்ள நெஞ்சங்களுக்கு ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனே புகலிடம்.  ஸ்ரீபூதத்தாழ்வார் தமது இரண்டாம் திருவந்தாதியில் -  உலகளந்த பெருமானுடைய திருவடிகளையே உகந்து ஆச்ரயித்திருக்கும்படி தமது திருவுள்ளத்திற்கு உரைக்கிறார்.  நாமும் அதையே பின்பற்றுவோமாக !

கழலெடுத்து வாய்மடித்துக் கண்சுழன்று, மாற்றார்

அழலெடுத்த சிந்தையராய் அஞ்ச, தழலெடுத்த

போராழி ஏத்தினான் பொன்மலர்ச் சேவடியை

ஓராழி நெஞ்சே உகந்து.

பூதத்தாழ்வார்   தமக்கு  உரைக்கிறார் -  ஆழ்ந்த மனமே!  முன்பு எம்பெருமான் த்ரிவிக்ரமாவதாரம் செய்தருளின போது,  தனது  திருவடிகளை உயரத் தூக்கினவனாயும், அவ்வமயம் எதிரிட்ட நமுசி முதலான மாற்றோர்களை  பயாக்னி கொளுந்தின நெஞ்சையுடையவர்களாய் நடுங்கும்படியாக  உதட்டை மடித்துக் கடித்துக்கொண்டு,  பார்க்கிற பார்வையிலேயே அவ்வெதிரிகள் சுருண்டுவிழும்படி, கண்கள் வட்டமிட, நெருப்பையுமிழ்கிற போர் செய்யவல்ல திருவாழியாழ்வானை  தரித்தவனாயுமிருக்கிற எம்பெருமானுடைய, அழகிய மலர்போன்ற திருவடிகளையே, விரும்பி அநுஸந்திப்பாயாக.

Here are some photos taken during the purappadu on 14.3.2020.  life was relaxed during those days.  Though Corona had impacted people with some feared affected at that time, people were blissfully unaware of the virus and the possible disruption that it would cause in a few more days.  Then the spread came and people are yet to recover from its affliction.  Hopefully, people remain sane, comply with the guidelines of the Govt, do not rush to streets.  Be safe, be at home, practice social distance, wash hands and fight Covid.
