நமது சனாதன தர்மம் மிக உயர்வானது.  வேதங்களையும் இதிஹாச புராணங்களையும் ஆதாரமாக கொண்டது.  நமது வாழ்க்கை முறையில், எம்பெருமான், ஆசார்யர்கள், ரிஷிகள், முனிவர்கள், ஞானியர் என வாழ்க்கை நெறிப்படுத்தி வழிகாட்டுவார்கள்  மிக உயர்வாக கருதப்பட்டு வருகின்றனர்.  ‘துறவறம்‘ என்று ஸந்ந்யாஸத்தைச் சொல்வது ப்ரஸித்தம், கீதையில் ஸந்ந்யாஸ சப்தத்தால் ஜ்ஞாநயோகத்தை வ்யவஹரிக்கப்பட்டது.

நம் சுவாமி எம்பெருமானாரால் ஏற்படுத்தப்பெற்ற  74 ஸிம்ஹாதிபதிகளும் மற்றைய பாரம்பரிய பீடங்களிலும் - பீடாதிபதியாக 'ஜீயர் ஸ்வாமிகள்' எழுந்து அருளியுள்ளனர்.  பற்றறுத்தல் மிக கடினமானது! இவ்வுலகத்தில் நாம் எல்லா விஷயங்களுக்கும் ஆசை படுகின்றோம் - இது நமது உணவு, உடுக்கை, சொத்துக்கள், மனைவி, மக்கள், வீடு, நிலபுலன்கள், வாகனங்கள், தங்கம், நகைகள், பணம் என மிகமிக நீளுகிறது !!  .. ..

நம் தேசத்தின், நம் சம்பிரதாயத்தின் ஆசார்யர்கள், ஜீயர்கள், ரிஷிகள், ஞானியர் - சம்பிரதாயத்தை மட்டுமே, நாம் எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாரணனிடத்தில் மட்டுமே  கொள்ள வேண்டிய பற்றை, அவனடி புகுந்து, அவனது தாள் பற்றி, அவனையே உபாயமாகக் கொண்டு அவனடி சேர்தலை நமக்கு   வழிகாட்டுகின்றனர்

In the holy Ramayana, Vasishta maharishi – one of the saptharishis was given the pride of place.  He was the Rajarishi who guided the Kings of  Raghu dynasty who ruled Ayodhya.  The Yoga Vashishtha, Vashishtha Samhita,  are attributed to him. 

 

In our rich lineage - Swami Alavandar occupies a centrally important position – besides being a great Acarya, he identified our    Swami Ramanuja as the future of Sri Vaishnava Sampradayam .  Swami Ramanujar himself is hailed as ‘Yathirajar’ – the King of Hermits – still Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar glorifies Him for his attachment to Alavanthar.   Here is a pasuram from Iramanusa Noorranthathi.   

நிதியைப் பொழியும் முகில் என்று நீசர்தம் வாசல்பற்றித்

துதி  கற்றுலகில் துவள்கின்றிலேன், இனித் தூய்நெறிசேர்

யதிகட்கிறைவன் யமுனைத் துறைவன் இணையடியாம்

கதிபெற் றுடைய இராமானுசனென்னைக் காத்தனனே.  

பரிசுத்தமான அனுட்டானங்களை உடைய முனிவர்களுக்கு தலைவரான - யமுனைத் துறைவன் எனும் ஆளவந்தாருடைய உபய பாதங்களாகிற ப்ராப்யத்தை பெற்று, அதனாலே  உலகத்தார்க்கெல்லாம் ஸ்வாமியாயிருக்கிற இராமாநுசன் என்னை காத்து  ரக்ஷித்தருளினார்;  இனிமேல், “நிதிகளை வர்ஷிக்கிற மேகமே!” என்று ஸ்தோத்ரங்களைப் பண்ணிக்கொண்டு இவ்வுலகத்தில் நீசராயிருப்பவருடைய வாசலைப்பற்றி நின்று நான் வருந்தமாட்டேன். நம் சம்பிரதாய செம்மல் யதிகட் இறைவன்   ஸ்ரீ பாஷ்யகாரர் திருவடிகளை பற்றியவருக்கு எல்லாமே உயர்வு தான் என்கிறார் நம் அமுதனார்.

Rishis / Sanyasis have always been held in the highest esteem -  Sanyasi (one who has renounced the world), being established in Brahma, attains immortality (emancipation).  It is a life of severe austerity, rituals, knowledge and spreading sat sampradhaya.    In our Srivaishnava Sampradhaya, Jeeyars are ordained heads of monastic institutions (Mathas / Mutts / Ashrams).  Sreevainava jeeyars renounce grahastharamam to become sanyasi.  Their duties are centered in living and propogating the scholarly and devotional teachings of our poorvAchAryas, and to serve as the mediators and guides in the doctrine of prapatti, the summum bonum of the SriVaishnava faith.

In the Chozha Divyadesam of Uraiyur [Thirukkozhi], there lived a wrestler named Dhanurdasar. He was the bodyguard of the Chozha King. He had a beautiful wife named Ponnaachiyaar and he adored her beauty so much.  One day, on a hot afternoon,  Pillai Urangavilli dhasan (as he was known) was quite concerned that the hot rays of the sun may scorch his wife's beauty. So, he carefully held an umbrella for her such that she'd be totally protected from the rays.  It was his good fortune that Swami Udayavar along with sishyas came that way on the banks of holy Cauvery  saw the strange procession of Ponnchi walking forward and Villi walking before her seeing her and walking backwards !  By Acarya’s divine grace, he had darshan of Namperumal whose divine eyes enraptured him turning him to be an ardent disciple of UdayAvar.  Ponnachi too became an ardent devotee is history. 

To us, devout Sri Vaishnavaites, this place – to be specific a small village known as Siruputhur ‘Kiranganoor’ [Hale Kiranguru] in Srirangapatna taluk is of significance for its association with one of our Acharyars.  Sri Ananthazhwaan was born in year 1053 near Mysore here in this  village called ‘siruputhoor’ ~ now called Hale Kiranguru in Srirangapatna Taluk -  571807 situate on Pandavapura Station High Road.      When Udayavar was rendering kalakshepam on Thiruvaimozhi, (the verse – sindhu poo magizhum Thiruvengadathu – meaning the place replete with flowers), Udayavar asked whether anybody would do the pushpa kainkaryam at Thirumala.  Remember, Tirupathi was a very dense jungle ridden with wild animals with adverse weather.  Ananthazhwaan readily came forward and said that he would go, if Udayavar so desires.  Udayavar was so elated that he praised Ananthazhwaan as the real man and till date, his descendents have the name ‘Thirumalai Ananthanpillai’ meaning manly.  

A few years back at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam occasioned to talk to another thennacharya srivaishnavaite – lean, thejas emitting with prominent thiruman and talked to him for a while.  Was in fact totally taken aback hearing his views on life, money and more .. .. remember he was in IT industry and owned a Mahindra Xylo. He was expressing that though he was earning very well – would not keep anything in his bank account and would spend everything for bagavathas.  To him money was necessary in this material world but also posed hurdle of wisdom and kainkaryam.  His conviction and belief was immaculate and so complete that I still could not believe that there could be such a way of living.  He certainly was different from normal mortals and was bound for a different higher echelon. 

That was Sri Venkatapathi Lakshmi Narasimhan, maternal grandson of famous Karappangadu swami, who with his sampradhaya lectures changed lives of many.  Sri Lakshmi Narasimhan Venkatapathi was in a great job in IT industry and was earning a very high CtC  serving as a top level executive architect in top tier IT company.  He was married and had young kids too. 

During his school days, heard that he was quite brilliant scholar being exceptionally good in Maths and enhanced his multi-faceted personality being a poet, violinist and Table tennis player too.  He was well versed in our sampradhayam – Sri Nalayira divyaprabandham and had heard commentaries of various scholars of our sampradhayam becoming an expert with staunch views in delivering them.  

His steadfast commitment and attachment to the feet of Swami Ramanuja was becoming more evident, as he contemplated moving back to the roots at Thiruvarangam, getting associated with Acarya purushas and mutts.  He with a clear mind quit the plump IT job and joined Thirumadaipalli at Thiruvarangam – thereby getting involved in making Prasad for Namperumal in the most sacred way.

From Corporate to Cooking – he moved and then he spent time at divyadesams – at  Azhwar Thirunagari Ahobilam, Melukote, Badrinath exploring and chartering his path and did kainkaryam at Hale Kiranguru completely shut from material world.  A few months back at Melukote Thirunarayanapuram, he relinquished this material world (he is not even 45 years of age!)  and got initiated as Sanyasi given to propagating Sri Ramanuja darsanam from Sree Dvaya Siddhantha peetam proclaiming as :  Sreemath Paramahamsa Parivraajakaacharya Sree Ramanuja Siddhantha Nirddhaaraka Saarvabhouma Anantha sree vibhooshitha – Sree Dhanurdaasa Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamy -   Sree Ananthaalwaan Avataara Sthalam, Hale Kiranguru. 

Was fortunate to attend the 967^th  Thiruvavathara Uthsvam of Thirumalai Ananthan Pillai held at “Puraisaivari thota” - Thirumala Tirupathi on Sunday 14^th Mar 2021.  The sarrumurai was very grand with - His Holiness Thirumalai Periya Kelviappan Sri Satakopa Ramanuja Periya Jeeyar Swami  &   His Holiness Thirumalai Ilaiya Kelviappan Sri Govinda Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar  Swami,      presiding and attended by  Sree Munivaahana Raamaanuja Jeeyar Swamy, Sree Thiruvaimozhippillai Avataara Sthalam  , Konthagai,  & the young Sree Dhanurdaasa Raamaanuja Jeeyar Swamy,  Sree Ananthaalwaan Avataara Sthalam,  Hale Kiranguru,  and host of divyaprabandha vallunar kuzham.    Here are some photos taken on that holy occasion.
