Wear Thiruman everyday ~ support Jaderi village !!

The city of Kanchi is known for its temples besides being famous for silk.  It was once the capital of Pallava kingdom which placed premium importance on architecture, with Mahabalipuram emerging as the greatest of exhibition of ‘rock architecture’.  Approx 9 kilometers away from the famous Kachi, after the river Palar lies the village of Mamandur,  for easy identification called as “Dusi Mamandur”.    In this serene village, is the small but beautiful temple of Lord Lakshmi Narayanar.    ~ and it is my native village !

Sri Ramanujar at Melukote Thirunarayanapuram

ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனை அனுதினமும் வணங்கி அவனடி திருவடி தாமரைகளிலே சரணாகதி அடைபவர்கள் ஸ்ரீவைணவர்கள்.  ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவச் சம்பிரதாயத்தில்  முக்கியமானது ‘பஞ்ச சம்ஸ்காரம்’ (5 சம்ஸ்காரங்கள்).  அதிலே தலையாயது "திருமண் காப்பு (புண்ட்ரம்) அணிதல்"  .   ஊர்த்துவ புண்ட்ரம் என்று உடலில் 12 இடங்களில் இட்டுக்கொள்ளப்படும்,  ஒவ்வொரு திருமண் காப்பிற்கும் ஒரு நாரயண நாமம். ஆக, பன்னிரண்டு பெயர்கள்.  திருமண் நமக்கு வெளிச்சின்னம் மட்டும் அல்ல ! ~ அதுவே நமக்கு காப்பு .. அதுவே நமக்கு நம் எம்பெருமானை மனதிலே வைத்து பெருமைப்படவைக்கும் அம்சம்.

முதலிலே நம்மை ஒழுங்குபடுத்திக்கொள்ள நாம் செய்ய வேண்டியவை  ~ தினமும் திருமண்  அணிவது; எம்பெருமானுக்கு கைங்கர்யம் செய்வது;  திருமண் அணியும் மற்ற பாகவதர்களை நமது தாஸ்ய திருநாமம் கூறி வணங்கி, ஸ்ரீவைணவர்களுக்கு மரியாதைகளை செலுத்தி, அவர்தம் மனம் குளிர கைங்கர்யம் செய்வது. ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவன் என்பான் கருணை உள்ளம் கொண்டவன், எவருக்கும் தீங்கு நினையாதவன், எம்பெருமான் திருவடிகளிலே அடிமை பூண்டு, “ ஒழிவில் காலமெல்லாம் உடனாய் மன்னி, வழுவிலா  அடிமை செய்ய வேண்டும் நாம்,” – என நம் காரிமாறன் சொன்னது போல கைங்கர்யத்திலும் பகவத் அனுபவத்திலும் திளைப்பவன்.

திருமண் மிக மிக சிறப்பானது.  திருவரங்கத்தில் இருந்து யாத்திரை சென்று, திருநாராயணபுரத்திலே செல்வநாராயணனுக்கு கைங்கர்யம் செய்யும்போது நம் உடையவராம் இராமானுஜருக்கு அங்கே செம்பொன்மலையாம் யாதவகிரி பிராந்தியத்திலே திருமண் கிடைக்கப்பெற்றது.  இன்றளவும், இங்கே சிறப்பான திருமண் தொடர்ந்து கிடைத்து வருகிறது. 

Dusi Mamandur is on way to Cheyyar from Thirukachi.  Cheyyar is a town in the Tiruvannamalai District ~ also known as Thiruvathipuram.    The town is situated at 30 km from Kanchipuram, 90 km from Thiruvannamalai.  Cheyyaru river is a seasonal river, a   tributary of Palar River, a river that  originates in Jawadhu Hills and flows through Thiruvannamalai district before emptying into the Bay of Bengal.  In Cheyyar, is a small village known as ‘Jaderi’ famous for the Thiruman that we wear every day. 

The philosophy of Sri Vaishnava sampradaya is Vishishtadvaita .. we the followers of Sriman Narayana are easily identified by the ‘Thiruman’ that is worn on the forehead – it is not only a symbol, it is a protection for us.  It is Urdhva Pundram that goes up – it represents the Lotus feet of Sriman Narayana with Sri Lakshmi thayar in the middle in the form of Srichurnam.  Thirumannkappu is kavacham, the protection.   

The purpose of life is to do kainkaryam to Emperuman in every manner – and that is better done in His Temples,  especially in divaydesams .. .. living in divyadesam itself is a great fortune, as we can have His darshan and it presents innumerable opportunities to do kainkaryam unto Him and those who serve Him – the Bagavathas.

The first and foremost duty of a Srivaishnavite is to bear His symbols and that way – adorning Thiruman is the foremost .. .. .. Thiruman is available at Melukote (Thirunarayanapuram) – our Emperumanar Ramanujar himself found that out there.  Ayodhya thiruman too is considered of good quality ~ nearer home in Cheyyar – there is a small village known as Jaderi, where the villagers are involved in the making of holy Thirumann.
