Today 24^th June 2018 is day 2 of Brahmothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni, it was Sesha vahanam for Sri Thelliya Singar.  As yesterdays’ purappadu took place this morning – the Sesha vahana purappadu took place at 4 pm. 

Of those who render service to MahaVishnu, Ananthan – the AdiSesha serves Him in the best possible manner that one could visualize. 

சென்றால் குடையாம் இருந்தால் சிங்காசனமாம்,

நின்றால் மரவடியாம் நீள்கடலுள், - என்றும்

புணையாம் மணிவிளக்காம் பூம்பட்டாம் புல்கும்

அணையாம், திருமாற்கு அரவு.

                          When Thirumal is moving, Thiruvananthazhwaan hoods him like a parasol,  when God sits, Seshan is  settee – the seat of comfort;  when Lord stands,  the snake serves Him as footwear ; in the Thiruparkadal where Lord reclines to take rest, he becomes the silken bed – he gleams with light and provides handrest too.   The serpentine Ananthazhwaan is ever at the service of the Lord in every possible manner. 

To praise more of his attributes, Adi Sesha never gets separated from Sriman Narayana. When Maha Vishnu took the exalted avathars, Adisesha too accompanied Him and did continued service.  He never thinks of his own comfort – in the Ramayana, Ilayavar Lakshmana (adi sesha) seldom took rest, did not sleep a wink, stood guard remaining ever vigilant.  In Krishnavathara, Balarama cared more for his brother.  Our Acarya Ramanujar is reincarnation of Sesha and our Acarya Swami Manavala Mamunigal was another reincarnation of Adi sesha and did yeoman service to Emperuman.    

                      திருப்பாற்கடலில் பள்ளி கொள்ளும் பெருமானுக்கு 'சேஷசாயி' என அழகான  திருநாமம். அந்த அரவணையானின் பாதங்களை    தொழுது ஏத்துபவர்கள்  என்று  என்றும் குறைவிலர் !..  . Here is one of the verses of Boothathazhwar:  

      

பரிசு நறுமலரால் பாற்கடலான் பாதம்*,

புரிவார் புகப்பெறுவர் போலாம்* - புரிவார்கள்

தொல்லமரர் கேள்வித் துலங்கொளிசேர் தோற்றத்து*

நல்லமரர் கோமான் நகர்.         

                                                                       ~  which would mean  :

those who are prostrate and worship with most fragrant flowers,  the Lotus feet of the Lord reclining in the Milky Ocean,  will get the benefit of reaching that great Emperuman residing in Paramapadam  ~ the feat that is available to those bright sacred souls of Nithya suris, which is not even available to those like Indira and other devas.
