Today, 8th May 2016 was
destined to be a great day.. today is day 8 of Sri Ramanujar Avathara Uthsavam –
occasioned to travel around 50 kms away from Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam,
travelling on National Highway 4 (NH 4) that links four of the 10 most populous Indian
cities - Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and Chennai. NH 4 is 1,235 km (767 mi) in length and passes
through the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. To us, it is significant, as it passes
through ‘Bhoodapuri’ ~ in case what you wondered
what it was – it is the old name for Sri Perumpudur, the birth place of our
Acharyar Udayavar.
‘Ananthah sarasi dhere Ramye
Bhoothapurivare’ – on the bank of Ananthasaras the temple pushkarini, is
the temple of Sri Adhi Kesavar. Thayar here is Yathirajanatha Valli. It is the Avathara
Sthalam of Sri Ramanujar. Legend has it
that this place was built by Boothas and hence the name Boothapuri.
Sri Perumpudur is the most divine place
for us – for this is the place where our Greatest Acharyar “Emperumanaar,
Bashyakarar” the reincarnation of Aadi Sesha and Sri Lakshmanar was born, in the year 1017 to Kesava Somayaji and Gandhimathi
couples. “Anujan” means younger
brother. Ramanuja’s avtar is attributed
to Sri Lakshmana the younger brother of Lord Rama and as , Sri Lakshmana
himself, Ramanuja represents the divine
Adisesha. Worshipping Sri
Ramanujar at this temple will cure us of all sins.
On day 8 of Sri Udayavar Uthsavam, had
darshan at Sri Perumpudur ~ and it was Sesha vahana purappadu in the
morning. Here are some photos of
purappadu
Adiyen Srinivasadhasan.
