Thiruvallikkeni Azhagiya Singar Brahmothsavam - Day 2 Eve : Simha Vahanam and Periyalwar Sarrumurai

29^th June 2012 – [Fri]  marked the Second day of Azhagiya Singar Brahmothsavam – this day being ‘Swathi nakshathiram in the tamil month of Aani’ has added significance, being the birth day of Periyazhwaar.  In the evening Periyazhwar accompanied Lord Azhagiya singar – who had purappadu on ‘Simha vahanam’.

Periyaazhwaar was born as ‘vishnu chithar’ at Sri Villiputhur.  With exceptional commitment, he rendered  floral service to the Lord Vada Bhathrasayee.  With the blessings of Lord, he proved before the Pandya King, the uniqueness of Sriman Narayanan.  He was honoured by the King and was taken around atop bridled elephant.  To honour him Lord Sriman Narayana alongwith Pirattiyar appeared on Garuda vahanam and Vishnu Chithar instead of asking for favours [which any other normal human would have done] started singing paeans in a manner that he sought that HIS wealth and other blessings should remain as they are without diminishing in any manner.  Such was his devotion that he was called ‘Periyaazhwaar’ –the big among all others. 

His renditions are “Thirupallandu” and “Periyazhwaar Thirumozhi”.  Though they were not the ones made first, in Sri Vaishnavism, they are considered to be the initial ones in ‘Naalayira Divyaprabandham’ compiled by Sriman Naathamunigal and everytime ‘Naalayira Divyaprabandham’ is rendered, it begins with ‘Thirupallandu’ only.

29^th June 2012 [Friday] - இன்று அழகிய சிங்கர் உத்சவத்தில் இரண்டாம் நாள் - இரவு பெருமாள் சிம்ம வாஹனத்தில் எழுந்து அருளினார். இன்று -'நல்லானியில் சோதி நாள்" - பெரியாழ்வார் சாற்றுமுறை. இன்று பெரியாழ்வார்   பெருமாள் உடன்  புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருளினார். 

  

பெரியாழ்வாரது   இயற்பெயர் விஷ்ணுசித்தர்.  தென்பாண்டி நாட்டிலுள்ள ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூரில் ஆனிமாதத்தில் சுவாதி நட்சத்திரத்தில்  வேயர்குலம் என அழைக்கப்பட்ட வம்சத்தில் முகுந்த பட்டர் என்பவருக்கும்-பதுமவல்லி நாச்சியாருக்கும்  புத்திரராக அவதரித்தவர். இவர் கருடனின் அம்சம் என்று வணங்கப்படுகிறவர். 

வடபத்திரசாயி என பள்ளிகொண்ட கோலத்தில்  இருக்கும் வடபெருங்கோயிலுடையான் என்றுவழங்கப்படும் கோயிலுக்கு தெற்கே நந்தவனம் அமைத்து தினம் பகவானுக்கு பூமாலை  சாற்றி கைங்கர்யம் செய்து வந்தார்.    பாண்டியன் சபையில் '  பரம்பொருள் யாது' என்றபோட்டியில் ஸ்ரீமந்நாராயணின்  கடாட்சத்தால் ஸ்ரீமந் நாராயணனே எல்லாருக்கும் தலைமையானகடவுள் என  பரத்துவத்தை  நிர்ணயம் செய்து வெற்றி கண்டார்.   இதனால் அவரை யானை மீது ஏற்றி அவருக்கு பட்டர்பிரான் என்றுபட்டம் சூட்டி நகர்வலம் வந்தபோது அதைக் கண்டு களிக்கத் திருமாலே கருடன் மேல் ஏறி  பிராட்டியுடன் வந்து தரிசனம் தந்தாராம். ஆழ்வார் யானையின் கழுத்தில்  உள்ள மணிகளைத்  தாளமாகக் கொண்டுபரவசத்தில் திருப்பல்லாண்டைப் பாடினார் என்பது குருபரம்பரைக் கதை.   

பெரியாழ்வார் இயற்றியவை "திருப்பல்லாண்டும் - பெரியாழ்வார் திருமொழியும்".

ஆதி திருப்பல்லாண்டு ஆனதுவும் - வேதத்துக்கு

ஓம் என்னும் அது போல் உள்ளத்துக்கெல்லாம் சுருக்காய்த்

தான் மங்களம் ஆதலால்*-- ~~~~

 'ஸ்ரீ நாலாயிர திவ்யப்ரபந்தத்தில்' உள்ள எல்லா பாடல்களுக்கும் ஓம் என்ற பிரணவம் போலே- மற்றயவை யாவற்றுக்கும் சுருக்கமாகவும் மங்களாசாசனமாகவும் திகழ்கிறது - " திருப்பல்லாண்டு" என நம் ஆச்சார்யன் மணவாள மாமுனிகள் உபதேச ரத்தினமாலையில் அருளிச் செய்துள்ளார்.  ஸ்ரீ நாலாயிர திவ்ய பிரபந்தம் எப்போது சேவிக்கப்பெற்றாலும், திருப்பல்லாண்டுடன் துவங்குவது ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவ மரபு. திருப்பல்லாண்டு மொத்தம் 12  பாசுரங்கள் ; பெரியாழ்வார் திருமொழி - 461  பாசுரங்கள்*
