Most likely you have seen HIM - Venkataramana Govindha – where ! ? ! [of course in Thiruvallikkeni]
Ans
to Morning Q : It is ‘Gangaikondan
Mantapam’ ~ though it is atop the building, somewhat
obscure and hidden during festival times when pandal would be put up, many
Triplicanites got it right.
This mandapam is immersed in antiquity – During Brahmothsavam and many major purappadu,
Emperuman halts here – on Garuda Sevai
(Chithirai brahmothsavam of Sri Parthasarathi & Aani brahmothsavam for Sri
Azhagiya Singar) Perumal halts here for a couple of hours.
The thriving vegetable market of Triplicane gets its name from this
Mantap – Gangaikondan Mantapam (colloq. Gangannamantap).
