Sri Parthasarathi Muthangi Sevai 2023 - 'some Pearl story !'

Sometime back read this story, which one may tend to dismiss as a WA forward – but makes one believe as it was read in Forbes :  .. .. it was around 12 years or so, a  Filipino fisherman made an amazing discovery in the sea off the coast of the Palawan Island, Philippines: a two-foot long (26 inches to be exact) pearl inside a giant clam. He took it home and hid it under his bed – keeping it as a good luck charm.   

A few years later,  his tiny home burned down, but the 75-pound pearl survived. The officials in the Philippines, verified  the pearl to be of  26 inches in length, 12 inches in width and weighing nearly 75 pounds – and more importantly, valued at $100 Million. Pearls are attractive, they are costly !  

**In 1918, during the influenza pandemic, ___  a young woman living with her German immigrant parents on their Texas homestead while her husband, Howard, serves in World War I.   Her  father is infirm and paralyzed, and her domineering mother, Ruth, insists that she help care for both him and the farm. She, longing for a more exciting life, is captivated by the films she sees at the local cinema and aspires to become a chorus girl, which Ruth disapproves of. However, the woman  also shows signs of psychopathy; she kills farm animals and physically abuses her father.  -  what ? 

As Americans pause to reflect on Imperial Japan’s brutal attack on Pearl Harbor — 82 years ago  — the US military faces an even bigger threat coming from Asia once again.  There’s ample evidence that if China were to go to war against America, it would use the same strategy as Japan to try to achieve a quick and dirty victory — but with a modern twist: a massive “bolt-from-the-blue attack” that could, in not even a day, wipe out most of our military assets in the Indo-Pacific region and perhaps forever mark the end of the United States as a superpower, is an article read in  NY times written by – a  senior director for national security affairs at the Center for the National Interest (founded by President Richard Nixon) 

He further adds  - and the saddest part of this scenario is that the Biden administration is well aware of it and has done almost nothing to reverse the threat.  To recap, Pearl Harbor is an American lagoon harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, west of Honolulu. It was often visited by the Naval fleet of the United States, before it was acquired from the Hawaiian Kingdom by the U.S. with the signing of the Reciprocity Treaty of 1875. Much of the harbor and surrounding lands are now a United States Navy deep-water naval base. It is also the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet.  The surprise attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy on December 7, 1941, led the United States to declare war on the Empire of Japan, making the attack on Pearl Harbor the immediate cause of the United States' entry into World War II.

 

Pearls are the only gems in the world to be born and grow inside a living organism. Most are found inside oysters, but very scarcely are they  found in clams – making this clam-found pearl even rarer. The pearl was shown to the public in the Philippines at that time.  Elsewhere, the  indicators of the real state of the Chinese economy aren’t only found in the debt, growth, and production output statistics released by the Chinese government. Indeed, a defining indicator of China’s economic condition can be found in an unlikely product sector: pearl jewelry. Well-to-do Chinese women have significantly reduced their purchases of expensive saltwater pearl jewelry, imported by small Chinese businesses that cater to this niche market. Many small jewelers are on the verge of going under, if they haven’t already. 

In this beautiful World, there have been times when humanity have been threatened by Wars and diseases.  The two World Wars wiped out millions of people, doing economic harm too – the human history is replete with wars and there have been dreaded plagues too .. Corona has been different – it has brought the whole World on its knees harming and threatening them of bleak future.  We faced a lockdown of global proportions, scarcity of resources, families away from each other for an indefinite period, and yet, humanity is restless, remorseless. 

Not any post on wealth, China, war or pearl, not on economic impact elsewhere but on Sriman Narayana adorning Pearl jewellery – Muthangi sevai at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam on day 7 of Irapathu uthsavam.

இதிஹாச புராண காலங்களிலும், அரசவைகளிலும் - முத்து உயர்வாக கருதப்பட்டது.  அரசர்கள் நற்செய்தி கொண்டுவருவோர்க்கும் வெற்றி பெறுவோர்க்கும் - முத்து மாலை பரிசளிப்பர்.  

Pearls are attractive -  Natural Pearls form when an irritant - usually a parasite and not the proverbial grain of sand - works its way into an oyster, mussel, or clam. As a defense mechanism, a fluid is used to coat the irritant. Layer upon layer of this coating, called 'nacre', is deposited until a lustrous pearl is formed.  A cultured pearl undergoes the same process. The only difference is that the irritant is a surgically implanted bead or piece of shell called Mother of Pearl. These 'seeds' or 'nuclei' are most often formed from mussel shells. Quality cultured pearls require a sufficient amount of time - generally at least 3 years - for a thick layer of nacre to be deposited, resulting in a beautiful, gem-quality pearl. Lower-quality pearls have often been 'rushed' out of the oyster too quickly (sometimes a year or less) and have a too-thin coat of nacre.   

முத்து என்பது உயர்ந்தது, சிறந்தது !,  ஆபரணங்களில் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் பொருள்.  உலகிலேயே பட்டை தீட்டப்படாத பட்டை தீட்ட வேண்டிய அவசியமே இல்லாத ஒரு ரத்தினம்   முத்தே ஆகும். எல்லா ரத்தினங்களும் பட்டை தீட்டப்படும் பொழுதுதான் நல்ல பொலிவினைப் பெறும். ஆனால் இயற்கையிலேயே நல்ல பொலிவுடன் கிடைப்பது முத்து ஒன்றுதான். இது இயற்கையில் நீரில் வாழுகின்ற முசெல் (mussel) வகையைச் சேர்ந்த முத்துச்சிப்பி போன்ற சில உயிரினங்களிலிருந்து பெறப்படுகின்றது. மிகப் பழங் காலத்திலிருந்தே முத்து விரும்பி வாங்கப்படும் ஒன்றாக இருந்து வந்துள்ளது. தமிழகத்திலும் பண்டைய பாண்டிநாடுமுத்துக்களுக்குப் பெயர் பெற்றது.  தமிழ் நாட்டில், தூத்துக்குடி போன்ற கரையோர நகரங்கள் முத்துக்குளிப்புக்குப் பெயர் பெற்றிருந்தன. இலங்கையிலும், யாழ்ப்பாண அரசுக்குள் அடங்கியிருந்த மன்னார்க் குடாப் பகுதியில் முத்துக்குளிப்பு இடம் பெற்றது.  முத்துக்கள் நன்னீரில் உருவானவையா, கடல் நீரில் உருவானவையா, அவற்றை உருவாக்கிய முத்துச்சிப்பி வகை, உருவான பிரதேசம் என்பவற்றைப் பொறுத்து முத்துக்களின் இயல்புகள் வேறுபடுகின்றன.  

On day 7 of Irapathu Uthsavam – it  would be very grand Muthangi for Sri Parthasarathi, yet all eyes could get  attracted by the most beautiful lady in a graceful sitting posture infront.  It would be no  ordinary lady – but one who changed completely yearning for Emperuman’s love .. .. that is Swami Nammalwar expressing his desire for Sriman Narayana and becoming Parankusanayaki. 

நேர்த்தியாக உடுத்திய அழகான பட்டு, பல அணிகலன்கள், சற்றே கூர்ந்து நோக்கினால் மூக்குத்தி கூட புலப்படும். குத்துக்காலிட்டு அமர்ந்து இருக்கும் இவர் நாயகி அல்ல ~ நாயிகா பாவத்தை வெளிப்படுத்திய சுவாமி நம்மாழ்வார் *மையல்செய்து  என்னை மனம் கவர்ந்தானே என்னும் மாமாயனே! என்னும்*  ~ அதி ஸ்வரூபலாவண்யமய எம்பெருமானை மோகித்து தன்னை இழந்தவர் நம்மாழ்வார் ~ இந்நிலையிலே அவர்    பராங்குச நாயகி.  எம்பெருமானுடைய உத்தம புருஷத் தன்மையை அநுஸந்திக்கையாலே அப்பொழுதே அவனைக் கிட்ட வேண்டும்படியான ஆசை கிளர்ந்து, ஆழ்வார் ஆற்றாமை அதிகரித்துத் தாமான தன்மையை இழந்து பிராட்டி   நிலைமையடைந்து   ‘பராங்குச நாயகி’யானார்.   

முத்துக்களோ, வைரங்களோ, நன்பொன்னோ  ~ வேறு ஏதும் விலை மிக அதிகமான பொருளோ ? - நமக்கு எதிலே நாட்டம் ?? ஐயம் கிஞ்சித்தும் உளதோ ??  :  சுவாமி நம்மாழ்வாரின் வைர வரிகள்.  

Today  also was not fortunate to have His darshan – the first photo is today’s Muthangi sevai ,  courtesy Sri Jutur Rishikesh.  The rest of the photos were taken by me on 8.1.2023.   The muthangi being adorned by Emperuman was submitted by Sri Thanjai Moorthi, and a few of us would remember that a photo studio by that name existed in North Tank Sq street !
