Holy Vaikunda Ekadasi 2023 - crossing Paramapada vasal

Today is a very significant day – 7^th day of Margazhi – 23.12.2023 (Saturday) – the holy “Vaikunda Ekadasi”.  At Bhooloka vaikundam, Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam and many many other Srivaishnava temples, thousands of devotees visit – have blissful darshan of Emperuman and take immense satisfaction in crossing ‘Sorga vasal’ (in Sampradhayic parlance – it is Paramapada vasal – the gateway to Paramapadam, the abode of Sriman Narayana)

 

Our Sanathana dharma is a dharmic way of life – it directs us to practice and live life of Dharma, the way of living without harming any living, animate or inanimate things.  The Sukruthis, who do render holy deeds accumulate punya and reach Swargam the place where Devas reside or conceptually where people are eternally happy.  The purpose of Srivaishnava is do kainkaryam to Emperuman, pray to reach Him and be at His service, getting away from the worldly sin of rebirth, life and its vicious cycle. 

இன்று 23.12..2023  வைகுண்ட ஏகாதசி நன்னாள்.   ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவ உலகம் கொண்டாடும் ஓர் அற்புத நாள். இன்று முதல் பத்து நாள்கள் அனைத்து கோயில்களிலும் எம்பெருமான்,  சடகோபராகிய நம்மாழ்வார் அருளிய தமிழ் மறையாம்  திருவாய்மொழியை அனுபவித்து பத்தாம் நாள் நம்மாழ்வார் அனுபவித்த பரமபத அனுபவத்தை 'திருவடி தொழல்' எனும் நிகழ்வில் காரிமாறனை திரும்ப அளித்து நமக்கு அருள் செய்வான்.  பத்து நாட்கள் பகல் பத்து உத்சவம் முடிந்து, இன்று முதல் இராப்பத்து.  

 

The universe  is all of space and time and their contents,  including planets, stars, galaxies, and all other forms of matter and energy. The Big Bang theory is the prevailing cosmological description of the development of the universe. According to estimation of this theory, space and time emerged together 13.8  billion years ago, and the universe has been expanding ever since. While the spatial size of the entire universe is unknown, the cosmic inflation equation tells us that it must have a minimum diameter of 23 trillion light years, and it is possible to measure the size of the observable universe, which is approximately 93 billion light-years in diameter at the present day.

It's one of the most compelling questions you could possibly ask, one that humanity has been asking since basically the beginning of time: What's beyond the known limits? What's past the edge of our maps? The ultimate version of this question is, what lies outside the boundary of the universe? The answer is …  not a straight one but very complex compounding one.  Perhaps the first requirement is to define ‘what is Universe’.  It could mean  all the things that could possibly exist in all of space and time, then there can't be anything outside the universe.  

The universe is everything. It includes all of space, and all the matter and energy that space contains. It even includes time itself and, of course, it includes you. Earth and the Moon are part of the universe, as are the other planets and their many dozens of moons. Above all these for us, Srivaishnavas,  beyond Universe, there are other lokas and the eternal aim is to reach the abode of Sriman Narayana, who resides in Thiruparkadal and Thiru Paramapadam. 

On the day of Vaikunda Ekadasi – the day starts very early with viswaroopam and early morning poojas.  Then there would be Thiruppavai sarrumurai and theertham in all sannathis and  in the morning @ around 04.45am  Sri Parthasarathi bedecked in precious jewels enters Paramapada vassal, as Swami Nammalwar waits to receive HIM  -   ‘Vedha vinnappam’ is  rendered by Adhyapakas and arulicheyal goshti.   

ஸ்ரீவைகுந்தத்தின் எம்பெருமான் வீற்றிருக்கும் பரமபதத்தில் நிலவும்  இன்பம் எப்படி இருக்கும் ?   இவ்வையகமே  நிலையற்றது.  ஸ்ரீவைணவர்கள் விரும்புவது என்ன ~ 'வீடு பேறு' - எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன் உறையும்  இடமான பரமபதம் சென்று, பரமபதநாதன் வீற்று இருக்குமிடத்திலே அத்தாணி சேவைகள் செய்வதே !.   பூலோகத்துக்கு அப்பாற்பட்ட பரமபதம் எனும் திருப்பதியிலே - எம்பெருமான் பரமபத நாதனாக வீற்றிருந்த திருக்கோலத்தில் , பெரிய பிராட்டியுடன்  அநந்தாங்க விமான நிழலில் சேவை சாதிப்பார்.  இந்த க்ஷேத்திரத்தின்  நதி, விரஜா நதி என்பர்.  அனந்தன், கருடன், விஷ்வக்சேனர், முதலான நித்ய சூரிகளும், முக்தர்களும் இங்கே கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்வார்கள்.   எம்பெருமானுடைய ஐந்து நிலைகளில் - பர; வ்யூஹ; விபவ; அர்ச்சை ;  அந்தர்யாமி நிலைகளில் பரத்வம் நிறைந்து நிற்குமிடம் 'திருபரமபதம்".   

நமது சம்ப்ரதாயத்திலே - எல்லாவற்றையும் விட மிகமிக உயர்ந்த - ஒப்பு இல்லா இடத்தில் இருப்பது ஸ்ரீ பரமபதம். இதை வைகுண்டம் என்றும் அழைப்பார்கள். இங்குதான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன் தன்னுடைய திவ்ய மஹிஷியான ஸ்ரீ மகாலக்ஷ்மியுடன் நித்ய வாசம் செய்து வருகிறார். ஒரு ஆத்மா, தன்னுடைய புண்ணிய பாவங்களை எல்லாம் விட்டு ஒழித்தபின் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனுடைய கருணையாலே, அந்த உயர்ந்த ஸ்தானமாகிய பரமபதத்தை அடைகிறான் என்று வைணவ சித்தாந்தம் கூறுகிறது. 

On this holy day, let us go to Temples, have darshan of Sriman Narayana, think only of Him, shunning harsh and unnecessary words and do whatever kainkaryam to Him and to His adiyargal.  Do read the holy Granth that Bhagwan Sree Krishna delivered at the battle front – “Bhagwad Geetha”  The famous Gitartha Sangraha of the Yamunacharya (Swami Alavandaar) gives the gist of Gita in one verse.

 

svadharma jnAna vairAgya sAdhya bhakti eka gocaraH |

narayanaH param brahma gIta sAstre samIritaH ||

 

One who performs his prescribed duty, with full knowledge of himself and his master, devoid of desire, reaches the stage of practice of bhakti-yoga. By bhakti-yoga one can please Narayana and reach HIM. So our objective should be to reach and serve our master, and the means to achieve this goal is bhakti-yoga. Sriman Narayana, the Supreme Lord, is the One whom we have to reach.
