Sri Varadha Rajar Garuda Sevai 2023 - floral kainkaryam - amazing people !!

 How good is power of observation ! – amazing people at Thiruvallikkeni 

Today 2.6.2023  is Vaikasi Visakam – thirunakshathira vaibhavam of Swami Nammalwar – today is day 3 of Sri Varadharajar Brahmothsavam and in the morning it was Garuda sevai purappadu.

 

A few minutes back had posted couple of photos of Garuda Sevai – I was admiring the picture myself as it presented some completeness – you could have observed – full view of Garuda vahanam and Emperuman; battacharyars; thirukudai (partly); some sripathamthangis / people, beautiful  silk vasthirams for Perumal and Garudan; some of the uthareevams as offerings, greenery behind; exotic floral garlands .. .. and is there anything more ! 

A friend Ms Sudha was elated on seeing this photo – for she could sense something very special.  It is a small floral arrangement ! made of Sevvarali and Nanthiyavattai !!  - able to spot them  ??!?. 

 

எம்பெருமானுக்கு நல்ல மணமுள்ள பூக்கள் சமர்பிக்கப்படுகின்றன.  படத்தில் மல்லிகை, வண்ண ரோஜா, சாமந்தி, என பல பூக்களை காணலாம்.  கூடவே செவ்வரளி + நந்தியாவட்டை கலந்த ஒரு சிறிய தண்டு.  – where is that !? 

எல்லா பருவ நிலையிலும், எல்லா காலங்களிலும் வளரக் கூடியவை, செவ்வரளிச் செடிகள். இதன் மலர்கள், அதிக மருத்துவக் குணங்களைக் கொண்டவை.    அரளிக் குடும்பத்தைச் சார்ந்தது  நச்சுத்தன்மை கொண்ட தாவர வகை என ஒதுக்கி வைக்கப்பட்டாலும், அரளிப்பூக்கள், முக்கியமாக  செவ்வரளி  சிறப்பானதாக கருதப்படுகிறது.  

நந்தியாவட்டை  (Ervatamia divaricate!)  வெள்ளை நிறத்தில் சிறிது சிறிதாக பூக்கும் ஓன்று.  இது ஒரு மருத்துவ மூலிகைச் செடியாகும். இந்தச் செடி சுமார் 1.5 - 2.5 மீட்டர் உயரம் வளரும். பூக்கள் வெண்மை நிறத்துடன், வாசனையுடன் கூடியவை. இலையை காம்புடன் கிள்ளினால் பால் வரும். வேர், பூ, இலை மற்றும் அதிலிருந்து வடியும் பால் இவை அனைத்தும் மருத்துவ குணம் நிறைந்தவை.  சங்ககால மகளிர் குவித்து விளையாடியதாகச் சொல்லப்பட்டுள்ள 99 மலர்களில் 'நந்தி' என்னும் பெயரால் நந்தியாவட்டை மலர் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

 

You may observe this well now in this close up photo .. .. a small garland made of sevvarali and nanthiyavattai flowers adorn the crown of Garuda !   Many Triplicanites would know Sudha, who regularly submits rare exotic flowers to Emperuman.  Today too, she had submitted this floral garland and was not sure whether they would be placed as there are so many big garlands. 

Thirukkovil battars had thoughtfully placed this on the crown of Periya thiruvadi (Garuda vahanam) – seeing this in the photo made her very happy.  In this mystic land of Thiruvallikkeni, there are so many souls doing wonderful committed kainkaryam in many many forms – some may get noticed, then there are so many like Sudha !  - hearty appreciations to her tribe and also the Battar who do such beautiful sarruppadi (alankaram) with wonderful commitment.
