Happiness - wishlist - kainkaryam !?!?

 Happiness ! – how happy you are ?or what makes you happy ?!? 

Marriages are happy times -  The Marriage of Figaro (Italian: Le nozze di Figaro)  is a commedia per musica (opera buffa) in four acts composed in 1786 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with an Italian libretto written by Lorenzo Da Ponte.   

சந்தோஷம்  என்றால் மகிழ்ச்சி, ஆனந்தம்  -  நாம் அனைவருமே எப்போதும் மனதில் நினைப்பது !! எல்லாருமே சந்தோஷமாக இருக்க  ஆசைப்படு­கிறார்கள். ஆனால்  எல்லாருக்குமே பிரச்சினைகள் இருக்கின்றன. பல்வேறு காரணங்களால் கவலைகளும், பிரச்னைகளும் நம்மை துரத்துகின்றன, நம்மோடே சேர்ந்து வாழ்கின்றன !!  

Happiness is a state of mind -  primarily  a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy; though some Philosophers often define happiness in terms of living a good life, or flourishing, rather than simply as an emotion.  There are simple persons in life, who live life as it is ~ taking things as they come… reads simple, but too difficult to follow !!  For many life is full of expectations, it is unending long ‘wishlist’…there are so many things that we desire to have ~ and many a times wish that we have, what others do not have… 

Read that in his thought provoking book   ‘The Geometry of Wealth’ , author Brian Portnoy observes: “Does money buy happiness? The answer to that question can be summarised as Yes, Not really, It depends." 

Intuitively none of us like ambiguous answers like this, but here, it successfully illustrates the complexity inherent in the question. After all, what is happiness? Money can definitely alleviate poverty. It can put a roof over your head, food on the table, warmth, clothing and medical support. Once our basic needs are meet, money’s impact on our happiness has progressively less impact.

 

இளமையில் கல் !  இளம் வயதில் இருந்தே கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய் !  சுவாமி முதலியாண்டான் ஏளப்பண்ணும் சிறுவர்களின் முகத்தில் இருக்கும் பெருமிதத்தையும் ஆனந்தத்தையும் பாருங்கள்  .. .. அவர்கள் மற்ற விளையாட்டு, கேளிக்கை விஷயங்களை ஒதுக்கி, எம்பெருமானுக்கு செய்யும் கைங்கர்யத்தை ஆத்ம சந்தோஷத்துடன் செய்வதை பார்க்கும் போது -  எம்பெருமானே ! இவர்களுக்கு நீண்ட ஆயுளையும், நல்ல ஆரோக்கியத்தையும், எல்லா வளங்களையும் தந்து, அவர்கள் கைங்கர்யங்கள் குறைவில்லாம் செய்ய அருள்வாயே என வேண்டுவது சால சிறந்தது.

 

Life in Thiruvallikkeni is one of happiness and contentment, giving so many opportunities to be with Emperuman and do little kainkaryams to Him.  Youngsters are able to shun entertainment, Sports, Cinema and everything else and spend time near Emperuman. 

Young Sri kara and Anirudh are not unique – they are among bunch of youngsters initiated to doing kainkaryam – look at the glee in their faces, engaged in being with Acaryar. 

Seeing such things itself provides us happiness !
