Karthigai masapravesam 2022 - the Big Bang Theory !!

Science is sound knowledge ~ yet there could be no denial of the fact, that even the most astounding accepted facts have changed over centuries with newer findings !

What is your address ?  -  you may tell your street, area, city, and the like -   we reside in ‘The Milky Way galaxy’   .. ..  just as Earth orbits the sun, the Solar  system orbits the center of the Milky Way. Despite hurtling through space at speeds of around 515,000mph (828,000kmph) our solar system takes approximately 250 million years to complete a single revolution !!  last time our planet was in this position, dinosaurs were just emerging and mammals were yet to evolve. Our Milky Way Galaxy was once thought to comprise the entire known universe. Today our universe encompasses many billions of galaxies, and its history can be recounted back to its earliest moments.

For centuries scientists thought the Universe always existed in a largely unchanged form, run like clockwork thanks to the laws of physics. But a Belgian   scientist called George Lemaitre put forward another idea. In 1927, he proposed that the Universe began as a large, pregnant and primeval atom, exploding and sending out the smaller atoms that we see today. His idea went largely unnoticed. But in 1929 astronomer Edwin Hubble discovered that the Universe isn’t static but is in fact expanding. If so, some scientists reasoned that if you rewound the Universe's life then at some point it should have existed as a tiny, dense point. Critics dismissed this: the celebrated astronomer Fred Hoyle sarcastically called this concept the “Big Bang” theory, a phrase that would later be adopted by its proponents.

Our universe was born about 13.7 billion years ago in a massive expansion that blew space up like a gigantic balloon. That, in a nutshell, is the Big Bang theory, which virtually all cosmologists and theoretical physicists endorse. The evidence supporting the idea is extensive and convincing. The  universe is still expanding even now, at an ever-accelerating rate.

Our universe began with an explosion of space itself - the Big Bang. Starting from extremely high density and temperature, space expanded, the universe cooled, and the simplest elements formed. Gravity gradually drew matter together to form the first stars and the first galaxies. Galaxies collected into groups, clusters, and superclusters. Some stars died in supernova explosions, whose chemical remnants seeded new generations of stars and enabled the formation of rocky planets. On at least one such planet, life evolved to consciousness. And it wonders, “Where did I come from?”

The theory accounts for the creation of the lightest elements in the universe—hydrogen, helium, and lithium—from which all heavier elements were forged in stars and supernovas. An extension of the Big Bang, known as cosmic inflation, even explains why the universe is so homogeneous (evenly composed) and how galaxies are distributed across space. The concept of a Big Bang doesn’t indicate whether the universe will continue to expand and cool or whether it will eventually contract to another super-hot singularity, perhaps restarting the entire cycle. The ultimate fate of the universe likely depends on the properties of two mysterious phenomena known as dark matter and dark energy. Further study of both could reveal whether the universe will end in fire—or ice.

Nevertheless, the way the universe began would have been determined by the laws of physics, if the universe satisfied the no boundary condition. This says that in the imaginary time direction, space-time is finite in extent, but doesn't have any boundary or edge. The predictions of the no boundary proposal seem to agree with observation. The no boundary hypothesis also predicts that the universe will eventually collapse again. Howsoever, sound all these theories could be – only a time travel either to millions of years of the past ! or to the future can only perhaps tell with accuracy – what is true and what is Science, what is believable !!

The forces of nature as observed and seen – the sky, fire, Oceans, mountains, the hot Sun, cool Moon, rain bearing clouds, eight directions, the Universe, the open that surrounds the galaxies  - all are manifestations of Lord Sriman Narayana.   Lesser mortals like us need not worry  about the future uncertainties, bad things and  sins of life – Thirumazhisai Azhwar shows us the path of having in our hearts – that beautiful Lord Krishna reclining on the riverside of the holy Kaveri, who will protect us all the time.

Thursday 17th Nov 2022  (today) is the day 1 of Tamil month of Karthigai and there was Masa Pravesam purappadu of Sri Parthasarathi Swami at Thiruvallikkeni today.

This year karthigai nakshathiram aka Thirumangaimannan sarrumurai is on 22nd day of Karthigai ie., 8.12.22 and  next day is Rohini – sarrumurai of Thiruppanazhwar, as also Thirukarthigai deepa uthsavam – from that day it would be thailakappu and no darshan of moolavar till 28.12.2022  which would be day 6 of pagalpathu uthsavam – sthala pasuram.

Here are some photos of today’s purappadu at Thiruvallikkeni divaydesam
