Sri Azhagiya Singar thiruther pathi ula 2022 - Narasimhana paada bhajaneya maadalu

இன்று 13.7.2022  -  திருவல்லிக்கேணி தெள்ளியசிங்கருக்கு ஆனி ப்ரஹ்மோத்சவத்திலே ஏழாம் நாள் உத்சவம் -  காலை திருத்தேர்.  

At Thiruvallikkeni, during brahmothsavam day 7 is the grand  Car Festival (Thiruther).  Early Morning Sri Azhagiya Singar with Ubaya Nachimars ascended the Thiruther and had grand purappadu on thiruther.

Narasimhana paada is a keerthana written by Purandhara dhasar.  Purandhara dasa, a follower of Madhwacharya lived in 15^th century and composed many keerthanas, widely referred as Pitamaha of Carnatic music in Kannada and considered incarnation of Saint Naradha.  Born as Srinivasa nayaka, he was a wealthy merchant of gold, silver and jewellery but  gave away all his material riches to become a Haridasa,  a devotional singer who made the difficult Sanskrit tenets of Bhagavata Purana available to everyone in simple and melodious songs

On day 7 Lord Thelliya Singar remains on the Thiruther itself till evening.  In the evening there occurs the  usual ‘pathi ulavuthal’ and then purappadu till eastern gate ie., beach road through Sunkuwar street, after which ‘thotta thirumanjanam’ would take place.  This used to happen in the cool Vasantha Mantapam situate in Venkata Rangam Street – unfortunately, this is no longer there and thirumanjanam takes place in the temple itself.
