Thiruvallikkeni Theppothsavam 2022

திருவல்லிக்கேணி எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாளின் தெப்போத்சவ வைபவம்.

In the divyadesam of Thiruvallikkeni, the tamil month of Masi has special significance.    On Masi New moon [Amavasyai] starts the float festival at Thiruvallikkeni.   The tank of Sri Parthasarathi Swami is famous ~ it is  ‘Kairavini Pushkarini’… the pond of Lily – ‘allikkeni’ from which the place itself derives its name (~ and my blog is titled Kairavini Karaiyinile literally meaning on the banks of holy Kairavini, the temple  tank)

From today 2.3.2022 – it is theppothsavam at Thiruvallikkeni – first 3 days are for Sri Parthasarathi.

Today it was something novel – Kairavini has been brimming with water – the recent rains saw water level rise covering all steps in neerazhi mantap in the middle.  Now the water has receded somewhat, revealing few steps – yet with water over and above the sandy area, that has some trees and structures, perhaps the theppam cannot sail nor easily pulled – the walkway too is  not available for people to walk around and pull.

So, today,  the theppam was fitted with a Yamaha outboard motor, buoys were moored to show the boundaries and a theppam became technologically driven.  Here are some photos of theppam and thiruther – more photos with elaborate write-up would be posted later.
