Thiruvallikkeni and Bay of Bengal ~ பணிந்துயர்ந்த பெளவப் படுதிரைகள் மோத

Today is 10^th Aug 2021 – 9^th day of Thiruvadipura Uthsavam of Andal. It certainly is not summer – but it is very hot in Chennai.  Yesterday, the noon time temperature touched closer to 38.9°C, as per the live temperature monitoring system in Nungambakkam. The nights too are warmer – the night temperature was close to 30°C in the core areas and the suburbs.  .. .. it has been raining briefly in some places too. 

The days are going to be sweltering in the coming days as the sea breeze is getting delayed in the afternoon. The night temperature has also been increasing in the last few days. On Monday, the day temperature was around 38°C during noon but the humidity level made it feel like it was above 40°C. IMD officials say that the conditions may remain the same in the coming days. 

The greatest thing in residing at Thiruvallikkeni is of course darshan of Sri Parthasarathi Emperuman.  On the material World, living closer to the Bay of Bengal, evenings are lot cooler with sea breeze and in past days, we had occasion of sitting nearer the sandy shores imagining how old the Sea is, seeing the mighty ships and boats that sail on it and the big waves that made sound !  .. ..

Until recently, the depths of the world’s oceans remained almost entirely unexplored. But advances in submersible technology are increasingly giving scientists a window into this little-known universe. One of the leaders in this exploration has extensively studied bioluminescent, or light-producing, organisms that use this trait to communicate, defend themselves, and hunt in darkness.  Now a days Oceanographers uses  highly sensitive deep-sea light meters and special cameras, like the remotely operated Eye-in-the-Sea, which allow for real-time monitoring of the seafloor.

The India Meterological Department (IMD) has predicted another well marked low pressure over the Bay Of Bengal by August 16. Reportedly, a cyclonic circulation will be formed over BoB on August 14 which will eventually take the form of low pressure by August 16.  It is likely to move towards Telangana, Andhra Pradesh along the coastal areas of Vishakhapatnam. Under its influence, various regions of Odisha is likely to receive continuous rainfall. On the other hand, the temperature is currently rising across the state due to which the humidity level remains high. The latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change today confirmed fears that the Indian Ocean was warming at a rate higher than other oceans.  According to some assessment -   the warming of the ocean will lead to a rise in sea levels, resulting in more frequent and severe coastal flooding in low-level areas.

பணிந்துயர்ந்த பெளவப் படுதிரைகள் மோத,

பணிந்த பணிமணிகளாலே - அணிந்து, அங்கு

அனந்தனணைக்கிடக்கும் அம்மான், அடியேன்

மனந்தனணைக்கிடக்கும் வந்து. ~ (மூன்றாம் திருவந்தாதி) 

கடலில் அலை வீசும்போது தாழ்ந்தும் வீசுவது இயல்பாதலால் ‘பணிந்துயர்ந்த எனப்பட்டது !  

On the Great Ocean, reclines Sriman Narayana resting on the brilliant Adisesha with thousand hoods and gem-red eyes. Waves rise and fall to pay obeisance to Him – and Adisesha protects Him with not a drop falling on Him without his permission – that golden hued Lord traverses thousands of miles in a second to enter and rest in my lowly tossing heart !  What a wonder is this  ! ~ exclaims Peyalwar. 

கடலிலுண்டான அலைகளானவை, தாழ்ந்தும் எரிந்தும் அலை மோதுகின்றன !  நாலு பக்கமும் அடிக்க  பணிந்த அத்திவலைகள் திருமேனியில் படாதபடி குடை பிடித்தாற்போலே கவிந்திருக்கிற, மணிகளாலே, மாணிக்கங்களினாலே அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிற  திருவனந்தாழ்வானாகிற  ஆதிசேஷன் அணையாம் மெத்தையில் சயனித்து, திருக்கண் வளர்ந்தளாகிற ஸர்வேச்வரன் (அந்தப் படுக்கையிற் பொருந்தாதே) அங்கு நின்றும்,  வந்து புறப்பட்டுவந்தும்  அடியேனுடைய மனமாகிற படுக்கையில்  சயனித்திரா நின்றான். 

Reminiscing of good golden days, Saturday 8th June 2013, was Rohini Nakshathiram and Amavasyai too.   On every Rohini day, Sri Parthasarathi will have chinna mada veethi purappadu and the day being Amavasyai, it was Periya madaveethi purappadu and here are some photos of divine Sri Parthasarathi Perumal.
