இன்று 20.03.2021 திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்யதேசத்தில் தேவகி மைந்தனான ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி, பங்குனி மாச ரோகிணி  நக்ஷத்திரத்தை முன்னிட்டு சிறிய மாடவீதி புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருளினார்.

Corona Virus (Covid 19) has threatened the Globe – it is apprehended that it is more active now affective millions.  Globally 12,27,33,136 people have been reported affected.  USA tops the list with 29808744; Brazil 11950459 followed by India 11599130.  Seen by the no. of deaths (globally 2708531) – USA tops with 541493; Brazil 292752; Mexico 197827; India 159755; UK 126122; Italy 126122 (list of countries with more than 1 lakh death !)

தமிழகத்தில் ஒருநாள் கொரோனா பாதிப்பு 1,200 ஐ தாண்டியுள்ளது. இந்தியாவின் ஒட்டுமொத்த ஒருநாள் கொரோனா பாதிப்பு 43,000-த்தை தாண்டியிருக்கிறது.    தமிழகத்தில் 8 மாவட்டங்களில் கொரோனா பரவல் அதிகரித்திருப்பதால் பள்ளிகளைத் தொடர்ந்து கல்லூரிகளுக்கும் விடுமுறை அளிப்பது தொடர்பாக தமிழக அரசு பரிசீலித்து வருவதாக தகவல்கள் வெளியாகி உள்ளன.  நாடு முழுவதும் இந்த மாதத்தின் தொடக்கம் முதலே கொரோனா பாதிப்பு மிக வேகமாக அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. மகாராஷ்டிராவில் ஒருநாள் கொரோனா பாதிப்பு 27,000-த்தை தாண்டி இருக்கிறது.

The second wave of spike in Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra is “milder but more transmissible”, said epidemiological experts.  The downscaling plans drawn up in BMC’s jumbo facilities in February first week were discarded as cases started rising. Covid Cases have risen four times between February 15 and now, a report in Times of India said.

Back home,  in a fortnight, people here  will cast their ballots  in what has been described as a crucial election. Two major parties are entering the battle without their veteran commanders, in a State where politics is driven by personalities.  There are some interesting news too with a candidate from  Alangulam segment in Tirunelveli, filing his  papers wearing over 5 kg of gold !  .. .. Gold may be good but not crowds !!

Remember in my younger days there would be public meetings at street corners, cycle rallies, candidate canvassing in open jeeps and some orators reeling out statistics and qualities of the candidate on the mike in auto rickshaw (I myself have spoken on that mike traversing the electoral village consisting of many a streets).  For every candidate, election manager, campaigner, speakers – good oratorical skills, eloquence, knowledge of the area, candidate, capabilities of the party and more were required .. .. (perhaps not any longer !) – today a candidate criss-crossed Triplicane with landrovers,  Fortuners, Innova and more .. ..

Large-scale violations of government-mandated coronavirus guidelines continue in Tamil Nadu ahead of the state elections even as authorities have directed political parties to ensure wearing of masks in public meetings and road shows. The oversight of Covid protocols is being reported as the southern state sees a spike in infections. India recorded a single-day surge of nearly 40,00 fresh infections on Friday, the highest since November 29. Ensure that you cast your votes – perhaps it is time to remain at home and not get swayed by election rallies and congregations as the threat of Corona spread is high .. .. 

Today  20.3.2021   is Rohini nakshathiram in the month of Panguni, the star in which Lord Krishna was born. For millions of devotees, there are no doubts whatsoever on the birth of Lord Krishna at Mathura and his growing in the adjoining Gokul, Vrindavan and Govardhana as also the  historicity of Krishna.  In the recent centuries colonial invaders projected Him as a mythical figure cooked up by wonderful stories. According to the  scriptures, Lord Krishna was born around midnight. That night was the eighth phase of the moon known as Ashtami Tithi. The moon was near Vrshabha, the bull, i.e the Taurus constellation that houses the star Rohini.  Astrological studies well researched  with details of sky configurations for events that happened around Krishna’s lifetimes, namely the Mahabharata, leads us to the exact birth date for Krishna which is stated as  3112 BCE. 

ஆரே துயருழந்தார் துன்புற்றார் ஆண்டையார்,

காரே மலிந்த கருங் கடலை,- நேரே

கடைந்தானைக் காரணனை, நீரணைமேல் பள்ளி

அடைந்தானை நாளும் அடைந்து.

                                      Peyalwar’s advice to the Universe is simple – to those who offer worship everyday to the Lord who reclines in Sesha sayanam,  who churned the ocean, who is the cause of all occurrences and things  - there would seldom by any misery -  Who in this  big World, would suffer, if they are to  prostrate and worship our Lord Ranganatha, our Emperuman Sriman Narayana.  Today it was the blissful occasion of Rohini and there was grand purappadu. 

On Rohini day every month, there will be purappadu of Sri Parthasarathi Perumal  at Thiruvallikkeni and here are some photos taken during this evening during today’s Rohini purappadu.
