Year 2020 has not
dawned well ! ~ earlier there were some reports of people getting affected by a
Virus and that some people had died. In mid-January,
China dismissed them as rumours stating only 3 had died. WHO which issues daily advisories propagated
later that China had handled the situation so well !
Now the situation
is worse, it was named Covid 19 ensuring that it in no way reflected the
origins at Wuhan or any other reference – has affected more than 11 million people have been infected
worldwide, at least 500,000 have died - and the virus, now a pandemic, has forced the lockdown of entire economies. US
billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has warned the pandemic will be prolonged
if drugs used to treat the disease and an eventual vaccine go to the highest
bidder. Mr Gates stressed that any such medicines should be made available to
countries who need them most. Irony such
words come from Microsofts which has ensured its products rake in money in
monopoly ! ~ but a global Pharma manufacturer making money in Corona vaccine
would be another disaster for the
mankind.
Iran said today
that it cannot afford to shut down its sanctions-hit economy, even as the
Middle East's deadliest coronavirus outbreak worsens with record-high death
tolls and rising infections. Iran must continue "economic, social and
cultural activities while observing health protocols," President Hassan
Rouhani said during a televised virus taskforce meeting. "The simplest
solution is to close down all activities, (but) the next day, people would come
out to protest the (resulting) chaos, hunger, hardship and pressure," he
added. The Islamic republic has been struggling since late February to contain
the country's COVID-19 outbreak, which has killed over 12,400 people and
infected more than 252,000.
Looking at all
this, in the country with highest population density – Governments have handled
the situation admirably, though the numbers are alarming. The no. of people affected in India has
crossed eight lakh with 7,484 cases added in the last 24 hours. The total
COVID-19 cases is now 8,01,286. After
holding a detailed telecon with Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar over
the COVID-19 situation, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that Chennai
continues to remain a hotspot and the mortality rate is low at 1.39 per cent.
Indicating that
Tamil Nadu may not be in a position to conduct the examinations for final
semester students by September due to the prevailing COVID situation, Chief
Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today urged Centre to give states the freedom to
work out their own assessment methods, without compromising on the quality and
academic credibility. The daily
increase in coronavirus figures of Chennai -- the epicenter of the disease in
Tamil Nadu -- has dipped by a whopping 60 per cent over the last five days, but
new hotspots are emerging in districts. From a peak of 2000-plus, the daily
average in Chennai is down to around 1,200. 465 km away from the Capital, in the temple town of Madurai, the infection
is raging. There's a five-fold rise in numbers in Madurai over the last 16 days
-- from June 23 to July 9. Though the city is under complete lockdown, the
total has spiked from 988 to 5,299. Hopefully
things come to normal sooner – that is the prayer on everybody’s lips.

anniversary of our greatest Acharyar Swami Ramanujar.

1000வது திருவவதார மஹோத்சவம் அண்மையில் 2017ல் எல்லா திவ்யதேசங்களிலும் சிறப்புற கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. அவரிடத்தில் பக்தி மிகுந்த திருவரங்கத்து அமுதனாரின்
பாசுரத்துடன் அவரை வணங்குவோம். எம்பெருமானாருடைய சரணுரவிந்த ப்ராப்திக்கும் ஸாதநம்
அவருடைய திருநாமஸங்கீர்த்தநமேயாம் என்பது இப்பாசுரத்தின் கருத்து.
‘Ananthah sarasi
dhere Ramye Bhoothapurivare’ – on the bank of Ananthasaras the
temple pushkarini, is the temple of Sri Adhi Kesavar. Boothapuri,
better known now as Sri Perumpudur is the most divine place for us – the
place where our Greatest Acharyar “Emperumanaar, Bashyakarar” the reincarnation
of Aadi Sesha and Sri Lakshmanar was born, in the year 1017 to
Kesava Somayaji and Gandhimathi couples. Ilayavalwar as he was
known at birth, Ramanujar was born in the year of grace of Pingala corresponding
to year 939 of Salivahana era and lived for a period of 120
years. He was named Illayazhwar [denoting Lakshmana] by his uncle
Srisaila Purnar foreseeing his wisdom, infinity and eternity.
He paid his first visit
to Thiruvarangam in his 25th year but could only pay homage to
Acharyar Alavanthar. He lived and taught undisturbed in Srirangam for
some more decades before had to leave the place proceeding to Melukote
Thirunarayanapuram.
Our darsana Sthapakar,
Sri Ramanujar rightly reverred as ‘Yathi Rajar’ ~ the king among yathis
[hermits and sages, the greatest reformer he was, Ramanuja gave us many
vedantic treatises - toured the entire Country, making the Srivaishnavatie
tradition flourish in all his path. Of those who remained closest to Sri
Ramanuja – Sri Mudaliandan, Sri Koorathazhwan, Sri Embar,
Sri Ananthazhwan, Arulalaperumal Emperumanar, Kidambi Achaan, Thirukurugai
Piraan Pillan, Thiruvarangathu Amuthanar and more. Worshipping
Sri Ramanujar will cure us of all sins and can there by a better time for doing
it than now.
In 2017
Sri Ramanujar Sahasrabdi was celebrated so grandly everywhere – at Thiruvallikkeni
– during the 10 day grand uthsavam – during purappadu, it was periya vahanams
and significantly increased no. of arulicheyal goshti too.
ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணவர்களுக்கு ஒரு சிறப்பான பிரபந்தம் 'இராமானுச நூற்றந்தாதி'
- இது திருவரங்கத்து அமுதனார் அருளிச் செய்தது.
நம் திவ்யதேசங்களிலே - ஆழ்வார் ஆசார்யர் சாற்றுமுறை தினங்களிலும், முக்கிய நிகழ்ச்சிகளிலும்
'இராமானுச நூற்றந்தாதி' சேவிக்கப்பெறுகிறது. திருவரங்கத்தமுதனார் திருவரங்கத்திலே மூங்கில் குடியில்
பங்குனித் திங்கள் அஸ்த நன்னாளில் அவதரித்தவர். திருவரங்கக் கோவில் பணிகளைச் செய்துவந்த
இவர், திருவரங்கத்து திருக்கோவிலை நிர்வாகம்
செய்து, “பெரிய கோயில்நம்பி” எனும் பெயர் பெற்று
திகழ்ந்து வந்தார். ஸ்ரீமத் ராமானுசர் கோயில் வழிபாட்டு முறையினை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தினார்.
பூமன்னு மாது பொருந்திய மார்பன் புகழ்மலிந்த
பாமன்னு மாறன் அடிபணிந்து உய்ந்தவன்* பல்கலையோர்
தாம்மன்ன வந்த இராமானுசன் சரணாரவிந்தம்
நாம் மன்னி வாழநெஞ்சே! சொல்லுவோம்
அவன் நாமங்களே.
திருவரங்கத்தமுதனார் தமது மனதை
விளித்து அருளிச்செய்கிறார். ஓ மனமே! தாமரைப்பூவில் பொருத்தமுடையளாயிருந்த பிராட்டி, அம்மலரை
விட்டு வந்து பொருந்துகைக்குறுப்பான
போக்யதையையுடைய திருமார்பையுடையனான பெருமானுடைய
திருக்கல்யான குணங்கள் நிறைந்த தமிழ்ப்பாசுரங்களிலே ஊற்றமுடையவரான சடகோபன் எனும் நம்மாழ்வாருடைய
திருவடிகளை பணிந்து, ஆச்ரயித்து உஜ்ஜீவித்தவரும்,
பல கலைகளையும் நன்கு கற்கப்பெற்ற மஹான்கள் நிலைபெறும்படி இவ்வுலகில் வந்தவதரித்த
நம் இராமாநுசன் உடைய திருவடித் தாமரைகளை நாம் ஆச்ரயித்து வாழ்வதற்குறுப்பாக, அவ்வெம்பெருமானாரது
திருநாமங்களையே உரக்கப்பாடி சங்கீர்த்தனம்
பண்ணுவோம். எம்பெருமானாரின் திருவடி
சேர்தலே நம் வாழ்விலக்கணம்.
