Thiru Ayodhya, also known as Saket is the ancient and holy city
where Lord Sri Rama, the hero of Sri Ramayana was born. Ayodhya
was the capital of the ancient Kosala Kingdom. Ayodhya is on the banks of the river Sarayu. Valmiki is
believed to have begun writing the Ramayana in Ayodhya. Its opening
chapters recount the magnificence of the city, the glories of its monarch and
the virtues, wealth and loyalty of its people. Geographically it is in Uttar
Pradesh closer to Faizabad city. Hopefully Covid fears would end soon and all
devotees should be celebrating – there is more significant reason now ! August 5
has been finalised as the date for the Ram Mandir ‘bhoomi pujan’ in Ayodhya
Today (20.7.2020) is Aadi Punarvasu ~ masa thirunakshathiram of
Sree Ramapiran - generally on
Punarvasu day at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam there would be purappadu
of Sree Ramapiran with Sitadevi and Lakshmana at Thiruvallikkeni
divyadesam. In testing times, we pray to Sri Rama Piran for saving
us all from Covid and all other troubles. Lord Rama descended on earth for the
purpose of upholding righteousness and rewarding virtue. A grand temple coming at the very place where
He was born makes us feel mightily happy.

are some photos from Sree Rama Navami Uthsavam day 1 on 17.3.2018.
On 9th Nov
2019, came a happy ending for all and more specially for the devouts in the
Ayodhya case by the Supreme Court of India. The Apex Court ordered
the disputed land (2.77 acres) to be handed over to a trust (to be created by
Government of India) to build the Ram Janmabhoomi (reverred as the birthplace
of Hindu deity, Ram) temple. Now more is
set to happen. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji and a host of other VIPs, including
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his Bihar counterpart Nitish
Kumar, will attend the ground-breaking ceremony for the Ram temple in Ayodhya
on August 5, the temple trust said. Grand
preparations are on the ceremony, which will revolve around the installation of
a 40 kg silver brick as the foundation stone by the Prime Minister, said the
Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra, which has been tasked with the temple
building.
Nritya
Gopal Das, president of the the trust mandated by the Supreme Court, said the
"bhoomi pujan" will be performed by placing the silver brick at the
sanctum sanctorum. Three-day-long Vedic rituals will be held before the main
ceremony, which will begin on August 3, reported news agency Press Trust of
India. More than 50 VIPs will attend the
event, which was delayed by more than two months due to the coronavirus
outbreak. Now, in keeping with the safety rules, the guest list has been kept
limited. Giant CCTV screens have been put up across Ayodhya so the devotees can
watch the programme, the Trust said.
All
senior leaders associated with temple
movement have been invited, the Trust said. The list will include BJP veterans
Lal Krishna Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi and senior leaders like Uma Bharti,
Vinay Katiyar and Sadhvi Ritambhara..Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Aadityanath will also join the "bhoomi pujan" ceremony, along with
seniors in the BJP's ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, including
its chief Mohan Bhagwat. Uddhav Thackeray -- who ended his party's 35-year
alliance with the BJP recently -- visited Ayodhya after taking oath as the
Maharashtra Chief Minister. "Shiv Sena has removed the obstacles in the
path of construction of Ram Temple. No invitation is needed to visit
Ayodhya," said Sena MP Sanjay Raut.
The
Trust -- set up on the directions of the Supreme Court to facilitate the
construction -- met on Saturday to set a date. Initially it had mentioned two
dates -- August 5 and 9 -- as auspicious and later zeroed in on August 5. The
makeshift temple built in Ayodhya opened on June 8 after the Centre allowed the
opening of religious places as Unlock2 was rolled across the country. In March,
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had presided over a ceremony to
move the idol of Lord Ram from a tin structure where it was kept for decades to
a new fiber one.
According
to authentic sources, “Since a bulk of the stones required for the temple were
sculpted and ready, the construction of the temple could be completed between
36 to 42 months.” So sooner devotees can have darshan of Lord Shri Rama in a
beautiful temple in His birthplace.
Strange are the ways of
people ! - the politics of Nepal has been bewildering and
rather messy in recent times. Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has irked many a
devout Hindu Indians by claiming that Shri Rama — contrary to the Indian belief
— was Nepali, and the site of his birth, Ayodhya, lies in the Nepalese
territory. In doing so, Oli seems to have irked many of his own country men and
women as well. In a perplexing speech, he stated that Ram’s birthplace is in
Thori, not far from the city of Birgunj.
For centuries - Ramayana, the names of its characters and the
places associated with them have been a lexicon
of power. Oli’s remark is less about the fact that Ram might have been
Nepalese and appeared to be more of a covert attempt to assert cultural and
economic independence and different alliances, at a time when the power
dynamics of the region are shifting. Oli was duly slammed. His future looks
uncertain. In a damage control mode, couple of days later, the Nepalese Foreign Ministry sought to clarify Prime Minister K.P. Sharma
Oli’s statement claiming that they were
“not linked to any political subject and have no intention at all to hurt the
feeling and sentiment of anyone”.
This isn’t the first time
a political leader has sought to gain traction — or assert power — by claiming
kinship or association with Ram and his birthplace. Across millennia stories,
names and places of the Ramayana have been used and reused, and cropped up in
places thousands of kilometers away, to produce and reflect great political
changes. In the fourteenth century, an epidemic forced King U Thong of Lavo
Kingdom to shift his capital and build a new capital city of Ayutthaya, a city
in Thailand, and to establish a kingdom there. U Thong came from a city and a
capital that also had associations with the Ramayana — Lavo Kingdom’s capital
was Lopburi — that is, a derivation of ‘Lavapuri’ — the city of Lava. This isn’t
the only city or kingdom to be named after Ram’s son. Lahore in Pakistan and
Laos, the South East Asian kingdom, also share this distinction. U Thong not only referenced the birthplace of Ram in his new
capital, he went a step further than Oli and gave himself a new title —
Ramathibodi I, that is, “Lord Ram.” This title remains in use today — even
though a different dynasty now rules Thailand, the Chakri dynasty, which
displaced the rulers of Ayutthaya. But the Chakri kings, monarchs of a Buddhist
country, continued the tradition of adopting Rama as a name and title. The present king of Thailand, known as Maha
Vajiralongkorn, is also styled as King
Rama X.
