கழகண்டு ?? செய்யும் பிரானே ! ~ Theppa Thirumanjanam 2020

                                 கழகண்டு  என்ற வார்த்தைதனை கேள்வியுற்று இருக்கிறீர்களா ?- தீங்கு, தீம்பு,  கோரம்பு, இடர்ப்பாடு என பொருள் கொள்ளலாம்.  

It can perhaps be simple ‘mischief’ all .. …  here it is not the one that harms but a mischief enjoyed and lauded as it is attributed to Bhagwan Sri Krishna.  Masi 13 (Feb 25,2020) Tuesday ~ was a great day.

கண்ணன் மதுராவில் ஜனித்து கோகுலத்தில் வளர்ந்த ஒவ்வொரு பருவத்தையும் மிக அழகாக தனது பெரியாழ்வார் திருமொழியில் பாடுகிறார் பட்டர்பிரான் எனும் விஷ்ணுசித்தர்.  இதோ கண்ணனை மஞ்சனமாட அழைக்கும் பாடல்களில் ஒன்று. 

எண்ணெய்க் குடத்தை  உருட்டி இளம்பிள்ளை கிள்ளியெழுப்பி*

கண்ணைப் புரட்டி விழித்துக் கழைகண்டு செய்யும் பிரானே*

உண்ணக் கனிகள் தருவன் ஒலிகடல் ஓதநீர் போலே*

வண்ணம் அழகிய நம்பீ மஞ்சன மாடநீ வாராய்.

திருவாய்ப்பாடியில் வளர்ந்த கண்ணபிரான் தனது பால்யத்தில், எண்ணெய் நிறைந்த குடத்தை உருட்டிவிட்டு, உறங்குகிற  சிறு குழந்தைகளை   கிள்ளி தூக்கம் களைந்து  எழுந்திருக்கச் செய்து, கண் இமையை தலைகீழாக மாற்றி (அப்பூச்சி காட்டி) விழித்து,  பல பொறுக்க முடியாத தீம்புகளை (கழைகண்டு) செய்யும் பிரானே ! - உனக்கு நல்ல  பழங்களை  உண்ணும்படி கொடுப்பேன், கடலினுடைய அலைகளையுடைய நீர் போலே  திருமேனியின் நிறம் அழகாயிருக்கப் பெற்ற, உத்தமபுருஷனே! - வந்து திருமஞ்சனம் கண்டு அருள வேணும் என விழைகிறார் நம் பெரியாழ்வார். 

In the divyadesam of Thiruvallikkeni, the tamil month of Masi has special significance. On the Full moon [Pournami day and Magam Nakshathiram] Sri Parthasarathi  Swami visits the shores of Marina, famously known as Masi Magam.   On Masi New moon [Amavasyai] starts the float festival at Thiruvallikkeni.   The tank of Sri Parthasarathi Swami is famous ~ it is  ‘Kairavini Pushkarini’… the pond of Lily – ‘allikkeni’ from which the place itself derives its name (~ and my blog is titled Kairavini Karaiyinile  literally meaning on the banks of holy Kairavini, the temple  tank).  The tank has added significance attributed to the birth of “Yathi Rajar” – Swami Ramanujar due to the penance undertaken by Kesava Somayaji and Kanthimathi ammal. Pushkarinis were developed closely associated with temples. The water from the tank was once used daily for thirumanjanam and all other religious functions of the Lord. The conclusion of Brahmotsavam would be by ‘thirthavaari’ the sacred bath at the tank.

திருவல்லிக்கேணி பெயர் அமையக் காரணமானது  திருக்கோவில் குளம் - கைரவிணி  புஷ்கரிணியில் இருந்து.  இத் திருக்குளத்தில் மீன்களே கிடையாது என பண்டைய நூல்கள் இயம்புகின்றன.  இப்போது பெரிய பெரிய மீன்களை காணலாம்.  இவை சில வருடங்கள் முன்பு எங்கள் சைமா அமைப்பினர் குளத்தினை தூர்வாரி சுத்தம் செய்த சமயம், நாங்கள் குளத்து தூய்மைக்காக சிறு மீன் குஞ்சுகளை வாங்கி விட்டோம்.  நம் பகவத் ராமானுஜர் பிறக்க சோமயாஜி வேண்டி தவம் இருந்த குளம் இது.  இதன் மையத்தில் சிறிய அழகான 'நீராழி மண்டபம்' உள்ளது.  தண்ணீர் தளும்பும் நாட்களில் இதனுடைய கீழ் படிக்கட்டுகள் தெரியாது.   இந்த மண்டபத்தின் மேல்பாகத்தில் கோயில் விமானம் உள்ளது.  நீர் நிலையில் நீரின் உயரம் அதிகமான பகுதியில் ('ஆழ்'எனப்படும்) மண்டபம் இருப்பதால் 'நீராழி மண்டபம்' எனப்படுகிறதாம்.

Every year there is the ‘theppam’ – the float festival.  In the middle of Kairavini pushkarini is a mantap called ‘Neerazhi mandapam’ – on day 3 of Sri Parthasarathi brahmothsavam there would be ‘thirumanjanam’ of Sri Parthasarathi – in the morning after kulakkarai purappadu, Sri Parthasarathi would ascend the theppam, have thirumanjanam, stay cool inside the float; in the evening there would be theppam, then purappadu. Have heard from our elders that Perumal used to have thirumanjanam at the Neerazhi mandapam till 1960s – have also heard that in one particular year 1994 or so, this was revived but could not be continued.  Last year (2019) this was revived and Perumal had thirumanjanam in the neerazhi mantap – not so this year.  It was inside the theppam this year.

திருமஞ்சனம் என்பது ஒரு அற்புத அனுபவம்.  திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் தெப்போத்சவத்தில் மூன்றாம் நாள், காலை எம்பெருமான் எழுந்து அருளி திருமஞ்சனம் தெப்பத்திலேயே நடக்கும்.  இது குளத்தின் நடுவே அமைந்துள்ள நீராழி மண்டபத்தில் நடைபெற்றதாக பெரியவர்கள் சொல்லி கேட்டுள்ளேன்.  1960கள்  வரை இது நடைபெற்றதாகவும் மறுபடி 1994ல் நடந்ததாகவும் கேள்வி.  கடந்த  வருடம் (2020)- கோவில் நிர்வாகம், பட்டாச்சார்யர்கள், அத்யாபகர்கள், கைங்கர்யபரர்கள் அனைவருடன் ஆதரவுடன், திருவல்லிக்கேணி தென்னாசார்ய ஸ்ரீபாதம் தாங்கிகள் பெரு முயற்சி எடுத்து, இக்கடினமான காரியத்தை இனிதே நடந்தேற்றினர். இந்த வருடம் மறுபடி தெப்பத்திலேயே  திருமஞ்சனம் நடைபெற்றது.
