Colchicaceae is a family of flowering plants. Gloriosa is a genus of 12 species in the plant family Colchicaceae, tropical and belonging to southern Africa to Asia. They are tender, tuberous rooted deciduous perennials, adapted to summer rainfall with a dormant dry season.

கோதை பிராட்டி ஆண்டாள் தனது நாச்சியார் திருமொழியிலே எம்பெருமான் பிரிவாற்றல் தாங்காமல் இயம்பிய வார்த்தைகள். கறுத்த காந்தள் பூக்களே!, உங்களை யுத்தத்திற்கு உசிதமாக அலங்கரித்து என்மேலே போர விடுத்து அனுப்பினவனான கார் கடல் வண்ணன் எங்கேயிருக்கிறான்? என வினவும் போது வார்த்தைகள் மட்டும் அல்லால் எவ்வளவு இயற்கை, சுற்றுப்புறம் பற்றிய விவரணை ஒருங்கே உள்ளது.

அந்நாளில் - காயா, கொன்றை, கோடல், தோன்றி ஆகிய பூக்கள் கார்காலத்தில் மழை பொழிந்து பூத்துக் கிடக்கும் மலர்களாம். கோடல் அல்லது வெண்காந்தள் என்பது காந்தள் மலர். குறிஞ்சிப்பாட்டு மலர்களின் பெயரை அடுக்கிக் காட்டும்போது ஒண்செங்காந்தள் என்று செங்காந்தள் மலரையும், கோடல் என்று வெண்காந்தள் மலரையும் குறிப்பிடுகிறது. செங்காந்தள் அல்லது காந்தள் என்பது ஒரு காந்தள் பேரினத்தைச் சேர்ந்த தாவரமாகும். இவை இயற்கையாக ஆப்ரிக்கா, தென்கிழக்கு ஆசியா மற்றும் மலேசியாவின் சில பகுதிகளில் காணப்படுகிறது. கார்த்திகைத் திங்களில் முகிழ்விடும் இம்மலர்க் கொடி வேலிகளிலும், பாதையோரங்களிலும், காட்டோரங்களிலும் படர்ந்து நிமிர்ந்து அழகிய விரல்கள் போலவும், சுடர்கள் போலவும் காட்சியளிக்கும். காந்தள் மலருக்கு ஆறு இதழ்கள் உண்டு. பெண்ணின் கையிலிருந்த வளையல்கள் கோடல் மலர் போலக் கழன்று வீழ்ந்தன எனப் பாடல்கள் உவமை காட்டுகின்றன.

Srivilliputhur is a mystic place – city entwined in divinity of Kothai piratti. It was the place referred as Varaha kshetra, a dense forest named Champaka, where sages Bhrigu and Markendeya did penance. Demon called Kalaneri troubled the sages, Sriman Narayana appeared and slayed the demon. He rested here reclining on Adisesha, on the leaf of a banyan tree and the came to be known as Vadaveshwarapuram. The history of Srivilliputhur centres around the Srivilliputhur Andal Temple, dedicated to Andal. The imposing temple of Sri Vatapatrasayi is centuries old. During the reign of Thirumalai Nayak (1623–1659) and Rani Mangammal (1689–1706), this city became very popular. Thirumalai Nayak renovated all the temples of this city. Until 1850, Sri Andal temple was under the care of the king of Trivancore.

The tall Rajagopuram of Sri Vadabathrasayee 192 ft (59 m) is the official symbol of the Government of Tamil Nadu (Sri Vatapatrasayi Temple Tower). The temple in fact could be seen as two - the one of Andal located on the Southwest and the one of Vatapatrasayi on the Northeast direction. A granite wall surrounds the temple, enclosing all its shrines, the garden where Andal was born lies in between these two temples.

A great day today (3^rd Aug 2019) ~ the concluding day of Andal Uthsavam – Thiruvadipuram. இன்று 'திருவாடிப்பூரம்,' மிகச் சிறந்த நன்னாள் ! ஸ்ரீ ஆண்டாள் அவதரித்த தினம். ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூரில் பெரியாழ்வார் பெண்பிள்ளையாய், நந்தவனத்தில், துளசிமலரில் பூமிப்பிராட்டி அம்சமாய் தோன்றிய கோதைப் பிராட்டியின் பக்தி அளவிட முடியாதது. ஸ்ரீ ஆண்டாள் அருளிச்செய்த பிரபந்தங்கள் 'திருப்பாவை & நாச்சியார் திருமொழி". தன் இளமை தொடங்கியே 'மானிடவர்க்கென்று பேச்சுப்படில் வாழகில்லேன்' என உறுதி பூண்ட பிராட்டியின் பக்தி திருப்பாவை, நாச்சியார் திருமொழி நூல்களாக வடிவெடுத்தது. ஆண்டாள் பாடல்கள் அனைத்திலும் ஒருமித்த கருத்து ஸ்ரீகண்ணனிடம் பக்தியே. அவரது வார்த்தைகள் இலக்கண நயமும், பக்தி மனமும் கொண்டன. திருப்பாவை முப்பது பாடல்களும் ‘சங்கத் தமிழ்மாலை’ என்று போற்றப்படுகின்றன.

வடபத்திரசாயி என பள்ளிகொண்ட கோலத்தில் இருக்கும் வடபெருங்கோயிலுடையான் கோயிலுக்கு தெற்கே நந்தவனம் அமைத்து தினம் பகவானுக்கு பூமாலை சாற்றி கைங்கர்யம் செய்து வந்தார். பெரியாழ்வார் ஆண்டாள் பிராட்டியை கண்டெடுத்து வளர்த்து சீராட்டி எம்பெருமானுக்கு திருக்கல்யாணம் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தார். நம் பொய்யில்லா மணவாளமாமுனிவன், தமது 'உபதேசரத்தினமாலையில்' திருவாடிப்பூர திருநக்ஷத்திரத்தில் பூமி பிராட்டி ஸ்ரீவைகுண்டத்தில் உள்ள உயர்ந்த அனுபவத்தை விட்டுவிட்டு பெரியாழ்வாருக்கு திருமகளாக இந்த உலகத்தில் நாம் உஜ்ஜீவிப்பதற்கு அவதரித்தருளினதை, அழகிய ஆடி மாதத்தின் பூர நக்ஷத்திரத்தின் வைபவம் வேறொரு தினத்துக்கு கிடையவே கிடையாது. ஆண்டாளுக்கு சமானமாக ஒருவர் உண்டு என்பது உண்டாகுமேயானால், இந்த நாளுக்கும் சமானமாக ஒரு நாள் உண்டாகக்கூடும் என பாடி மகிழ்கிறார்.

ஆண்டாள் பிறந்ததனால் கோவிந்தன் வாழும் ஊரான வில்லிபுத்தூர் பெருமை பெற்றது.ஸ்ரீவில்லிபுத்தூர் மண்ணை மிதித்தாலே நமது அனைத்து பாவங்களும் விலகும். ஆண்டாள் பிறந்த இந் நன்னாளில் திருப்பாவை முதலான திவ்யப்ரபந்தங்களை பாடி திருமால் அடியார்களை மகிழ்வித்து, ஸ்ரீமான் நாராயணின் அருள் பெறுவோமாக !!

Sri Andal’s birth occurred in the 98^th year of Kali Yuga – Nala Varudam – in the month of Aadi – shukla paksham – chathurthasi day. She was found in a thulsi garden at Sri Villiputhur by Vishnu Chithar [Periyazhwaar]. Our Acharyar in his ‘Upadesa Rathina Malai’ hails the day as ‘ Periyaazhwar pen pillaiai Aandal pirantha thiruvadipurathin seermai’. Uyyakkondar says in the thanian visualizing Srivilliputhur as a very special Divyadesam where Hamsam [anna pakshi] known for its power to separate milk from water are abundant and hails Andal for the verses with which she offered garlands to the Lord.

Sri Andal in her Nachiyar Thirumozhi describes the Lord as having the white conch, wearing beautiful yellow silken robes, having tresses on shoulders hovering like bees over His lotus face, the Lord of immense compassion been worshipped at Vrindavan [Brindavan nearer Mathura, where Krishna grew up !]

அளிநன்குடைய திருமாலை ஆழியானைக் கண்டீரே? *

களிவண்டெங்கும் கலந்தாற்போல் கமழ்பூங்குழல்கள் தடந்தோள்மேல்*

மிளிர நின்று விளையாட விருந்தாவனத்தே கண்டோமே !

On this glorious day of Kothai Nachiyar, let us prostrate at the Lotus feet of Sriman Narayana, singing the verses of Kothai piratti, which will ensure all goodness and prosperity in this material World and in the heavenly World.
