Sri Andal thiruvadipura thiruther 2018 - 'இந்திரகோபங்கள்' !!

Today  12^th Aug 2018 is day 9 of Thiruvadipura Uthsavam – and at Thiruvallikkeni it was siriya thiruther (understand that the grand car festival is to be run tomorrow at Sri Villiputhur on the day of sarrumurai of the Andal Thiruvavathara uthsavam).  There is the big chariot, most majestic, though it is ¾th or lower than the one existed in my childhood days.  Today it was the smaller one.  Here is a photo of Sri Azhagiya singar thiruther.

Thiruvadipuram is all about quintessential bakthi of Sri Andal –her pasurams imbued with bakthi and revealing so many things that existed those days – of fields, produce, people, insects, rain, birds and more.  Today in trying to write something – started with her pasuram in Nachiyar thirumozhi.  .. .. a reference to ‘inthiragobam’ – led me elsewhere.  With some unending searches in google – I have indiscreetly chattered something – if it is found to be entirely wrong or far away from what was meant – please excuse me and guide me on the correctness.  However, what remains is Andal’s blemishless bakthi towards Sri Ranga mannar and her admirable determination in reaching out to Him. 

இன்று ஆண்டாள் திருவாடிப்பூர உத்சவத்தில் ஒன்பதாம் நாள் ~ திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்யதேசத்தில் ஆண்டாளுக்கு சிறிய திருத்தேர். இது மழைக்காலம்  - புறப்பாடு தடை பெறுமோ என்ற பயம் .. என் போன்ற கிரிக்கெட் விளையாட்டு பைத்தியங்கள், இந்திய அணியின் மட்டமான தடுமாறலைக்கண்டு அங்கே மழை பெய்யக்கூடாதா என்று நினைக்கிறோம். மழை ஒரு வரம் - உயிர்களை உயிர்க்கவைக்கும் ஒரு அழகிய நிகழ்வு.

ஒவ்வொரு மழைக்கால ஆரம்பத்திலும் சிறு சிறு பூச்சிகளை வரவேற்கலாம்.  இன்று நகரத்தில், கணினி அல்லது அலைபேசியை மட்டுமே பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும் நமக்கு பல விஷயங்கள் புரிபடுவதில்லை.  ஆண்டாள் உத்சவமானதால் இதோ இங்கே 'நாச்சியார் திருமொழியில்'  இருந்து ஒரு பாடல் :

சிந்துரச் செம்பொடிப்போல் திருமாலிருஞ் சோலையெங்கும்*

இந்திர கோபங்களே எழுந்தும்  பரந்திட்டனவால் *

மந்தரம் நாட்டியன்று மதுரக்கொழுஞ் சாறுகொண்ட*

சுந்தரத் தோளுடையான் சுழலையினின்றுய்துங் கொலோ

~ கோதை பிராட்டி திருமாலிரும்சோலை கொண்ட சுந்தரபாஹு மீது பக்தி கொண்டு பாடுகிறார் என்பது புரிகிறது.. .. அனால் அது என்ன - 'இந்திரகோபங்கள்'  - இந்திரன் + கோபங்கள் - இந்திரனது கோவம் என்பது பொருளல்ல ! - இணையத்தில் தேடிய பொது, புது புது அர்த்தங்கள் எனக்கு கிடைத்தன.  

மழை நின்ற மறு நாள் சுருக்கங்கள் மிகுந்த சிவப்பு வெல்வெட் போன்ற உடல் கொண்ட ஒரு சிறிய பூச்சியினை தோட்டத்தில் காணலாம்.  பார்க்க மிக அழகாக இருக்கும் இந்தப் பூச்சியின் பெயர் ஆங்கிலத்தில் “ரெட் வெல்வெட் மைட்” என்பதாகும்.  விஞ்ஞான ரீதியாய் இதற்கு அளிக்கப் பட்ட பெயர் ட்ராம்பிடியும் ஹோலோசெரிகம் (Trombidium holosericeum.).   இதை சில ஊர்களில் மூதாய் பூச்சி என்றும் அழைப்பர்.  பட்டுப்பூச்சி என்றாலும்,  இப்பூச்சி சிலந்தி வகுப்பில் சேருகிறது. இவை பெரும்பாலும் காயா மலரின் கொத்து கொத்தான பூக்களுக்கிடையில் பெரிய பூச்சியானவுடன் ஒட்டிக்கொள்கிறது. இப்பூச்சி ஒட்டுண்ணிப் பூச்சியாகும்.

‘inthiragobam’ is ‘red velvet mite’ or simply rain bugs – not exactly butterflies or birds but arachnids – known for their bright red crimson colour and could paint the entire place red as they swarm in large groups.  The bright colour serves in some ways as warning to predators that they can attack.  They possess hard exoskeleton, jointed appendages and a body that is segmented.

                திருமாலிருஞ்சோலை எனும் மழையும், மரங்களும், பூக்களும், விலங்கினமும், பறவைகளும், பூச்சிகளும் மிகுந்த ரம்மியமான ஒரு ஸ்தலத்தில்,  இந்திர கோபங்கள் எனும் பட்டுப்பூச்சிகளானவை, தனது சிவந்த நிறுத்தினால், மேலெழுந்து பறக்கும் போது,  சிந்துரப் பொடி போன்று கண்படுகின்றன.  இங்கே எழுந்து அருளியிருக்கும், சுந்தரபாஹு ஆனவன், கடலைக் கடைந்து அமுதமளிக்கவேணுமென்று தேவர்கள் சரணம் புகுந்துவேண்டின காலத்திலே, மந்தரமலையை பாற்கடலில் மத்தாக  நாட்டி மிகவும் மதுரமான அம்ருதரஸத்தை  எடுத்து பகிர்ந்தளித்தவன்.  அந்த ஸ்ரீ ஸுந்தர பாஹு நாதனுடைய சூழ்வலையில் நின்றும் உய்வதே சால சிறந்தது.

Andal sings on the Lord Sundara Bahu at thirumalirumsolai where the cochineal insects called ‘inthirakobangal’ swarm and flying making it look thick scarlet cover – the Lord with beautiful arms planted manthara malai as the shaft and churned ambrosia and distributed it  - Andal wonders how she can survive in such a vortex and prays to Rangamannar for uniting with Him.

At Thiruvallikkeni, after thirukula purappadu, Andal ascended thiruther and had purappadu. Here are some photos taken during the purappadu. Remember tomorrow is ‘Thiruvadipuram’ marking the birth of Goda piratti.
