Sri Bakthisarar Uthsavam @ Thirumazhisai 2018

Sunday, 28^th Jan 2018 provided an opportunity to have darshan at Thirumazhisai ~ the Ekadesi day  was day 5 of the  Thiruvavathara Uthsavam of Azhwar.  For Srivaishnavaites, Azhwaars and their birthdays  are of great significance.  The hymns sung by the Azhwargal are collectively are known as ‘Naalayira Divya Prabandham’.    Bhakthisarar,  well known as Thirumazhisai Azhwar was born in Thirumazhisai and hence is hailed as Thirumazhisai Piran.  This  place is near Poonamallee around 20 kms away from Chennai on the Bangalore High Road.

This kshetram is famously  known as ‘Mahisara Kshethram’ : mahisara means mahima (greatness); saram (essence) – the sthalam of Lord Jagannatha, the essence of all greatness is also known as Madhya Jagannatha Kshetram ~ the Perumal here is in Veetru iruntha (Sitting) thirukolam with Rukmani and Sathyabhama ~ inside the sannathi maharishis Brugu and Markendaya are sitting in penance near Lord.  The Emperuman here is Madhya Jagannathan, Adhi (dakshina) Jagannathan is at Thirupullani and there is the most famous Puri Jagannath Temple in Orissa.

The legend of the temple at Thiruvegha in Kanchipuram is associated with Thirumazhisai Azhwaar.  The King insisted on the disciple of Azhwaar by name Kanikannan to sing in his praise.  He refused and promptly was banished outside the kingdom.  Azhwaar followed his disciple and sang to Lord that they are moving out of the town.  The Lord transgressing the immobile idol form, also went following the azhwaar plunging the kingdom in darkness.  The King realizing his folly, then prostrated before the disciple and  azhwaar requesting them to return.  The saint returned and so did the Perumal.  Even now this Perumal is affectionately called “Yathokthakari” – the one who did as told by his devotee. 

Thirumazhisaippiran’s  works are : Naanmukhan Thiruvanthathi (96) and Thiruchanda Virutham (120).  He was born in the Magam nakshathiram of Thai month.  His Thirunakshithiram ‘Thaiyil magam’ falls on Friday 2^nd Feb 2018.  Today it was day 5 ~ in the night it is Lord Jagannathar in Garuda Sevai and Azhwar in Hamsa vahanam.  Here are some photos of Alwar purappadu to the hamsa vahanam and the vahanam that was waiting for Azhwar at Thirumazhisai.

"வாழ்த்துக  வாய்; காண்க கண்; கேட்க செவி; மகுடம்

தாழ்த்தி வணங்குமின்கள் தண்மலரால்- - சூழ்த்த

துழாய் மன்னு நீள் முடி என் தொல்லை மால் தன்னை

வழாவண் கைகூப்பி மதித்து"

என்று பாடிய திருமழிசை செல்வன் பக்திசாரர்  அவதரித்த நன்னாளை கொண்டாடுவோம்.

Ekkattuthangal Thiruvural Uthsavam 2018 ~ Sri Mylai Peyalwar mangalasasanam

திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்ய தேசத்தின்  சிறப்பு உத்சவம் "ஈக்காட்டுத்தாங்கல்  திருவூறல் உத்சவம்" பற்றி பதிவிட்டு இருந்தேன். கிண்டி அருகே உள்ள ஈக்காடு தொழிற்பேட்டையில் உள்ள தனது இடத்திற்கு    ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் பிரதி வருடமும் ஒரு நாள் எழுந்து அருள்கிறார். 

I have recently posted on Ekkattu Thangal Thiruvural Uthsavam .. … On 21.1.2018, around 3 am, Sri Parthasarathi Perumal started his sojourn.  On the way, He visited Sri Madhava Perumal temple at Thirumayilai.  Then at Chithirai kulam, Sri Peyalwar was waiting for Him.  He was received with all honours and in purappadu with rendering of Moonram Thiruvanthi, taken to the temple of Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal.  After a brief rest and prasadam, He had purappadu in Thirumayilai – at Chithra kulam, Alvar took leave as Perumal continued His winding journey to the banks of Adyaru. 

Sri Peyazhvaar at Thirukkovalur had darshan of Sriman Narayanan with the help of lights lit by Sri Poigaiyaar and Boothathaar.  In his Moonram thiruvanthathi, he revels – that he brought the Emperuman in to his heart lighting a lamp of consciousness, a lamp that does not accumulate any sort of dirt as the other wordly lights may get,  prayed to Him and got Him inside.  The Lord so entering into his heart, stood for a while, sat and enjoying the warmth and comfort of Alwar and his devotion, happily reclined as Sri Ranganatha.

ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் நேராக எழுந்தருளாமல் வழியில் பல இடங்களில் இளைப்பாறுகிறார்.  திருக்கோவில்கள், சில நிறுவனங்கள், தனியாரின் வீடுகள் சில இந்த வரிசையில் உண்டு.  பல வருடங்களாக இவ்விடங்களில் பெருமாளுக்கு 'மண்டகப்படி' உண்டு.  பெருமாள் இவ்விடங்களில் எழுந்து அருளி, காத்து இருக்கும் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள் பாலிப்பார்.  அதிகாலை 3 மணியளவில் திருக்கோவிலில் இருந்து துவங்கிய புறப்பாடு  திருமயிலை மாதவப்பெருமாள் கோவிலில் எழுந்து அருளிய பிறகு - ஸ்ரீ கேசவப்பெருமாள் கோவிலுக்கு எழுந்து அருளினார்.

சித்திரை குளம் அருகே காத்திருந்த தமிழ்த்தலைவனாம் ஸ்ரீ பேயாழ்வார்  ~ பெருமாளை மங்களாசாசனம் செய்து, மரியாதைகளை பெற்று, எம்பெருமானை  வரவேற்றார்.  எம்பெருமானும் ஆழ்வார்  அருளிச்செய்த மூன்றாம் திருவந்தாதி கோஷ்டியுடன் குளக்கரை புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருளி, ஸ்ரீ ஆதிகேசவப்பெருமாள் திருக்கோயிலுக்குள் எழுந்து அருளினார்.  திருக்கோவிலில் இளைப்பாறி திருவமுது செய்வித்தபிறகு, மாட வீதிகளில் எழுந்து அருளி, குளக்கரையில் கோஷ்டி சாற்றுமுறையுடன் ஆழ்வார் பிரியாவிடை பெற, பெருமாள் தம் பயணத்தை தொடர்ந்தார். 21.1.2018  அன்று காலை ஐந்து மணியளவில் நடைபெற்ற புறப்பாட்டின் போது  எடுக்கப்பட்ட சில படங்கள் இங்கே.

ஆழ்வார் பாடல்களிலே தமிழும், அற்புத உரையும், பக்தியும் கமழும்.  பேயாழ்வார் இடைகழியில் மற்ற இருவர் ஏற்றிய விளக்கினிலே பெருமாளை சேவித்து 'திருக்கண்டேன் பொன்மேனி கண்டேன்' என இசைத்தவர்.  அவரது வரிகள் இங்கே :  நாம் கண்ணுறும் சாதாரண விளக்குகள் எ ண்ணெய் திரி போன்றன  சேர்க்கையினால் அழுக்கேறுதலுண்டு, ஞானமாகிற விளக்கு அங்ஙனன்றியே நிர்மலமாயிருக்கும் 

உய்த்துணர்வென்னும் ஒளிகொள் விளக்கேற்றி,

வைத்தவனை நாடி வலைப்படுத்தேன், - மெத்தெனவே

நின்றானிருந்தான் கிடந்தானென்னெஞ்சத்து,

பொன்றாமை மாயன் புகுந்து,

மனத்தினாலும் அறிவினாலும் உய்ந்து உணர்ந்த விவேக உணர்ச்சி எனும் மாசற்ற தீபத்தை ஏற்றி, ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயனான எம்பெருமானை தனது இதயத்திலே வலைப்படுத்தி தனதாக்கிக்கொண்டால், அவ்வெம்பெருமான் குறை ஒன்றுமில்லாமல்  ஹ்ருதயத்திலே குடி புகுந்து, அமைதியாக, முதலில் நின்று, சற்று பிறகு,   வீற்றிருந்து அதன் பிறகு அங்கேயே  பள்ளிகொண்டருளினான் ~ என்கிறார் தமிழ் தலைவன் பேயாழ்வார்.

Sri Parthasarathi - Ekkadu Thiruvural Uthsavam 2018

The city of Chennai does not have good river worth its name ~ there is Buckingham canal, Coovum river and .. river Adyaru.  You cross Adyar river at some places while traversing the city.  Apart from couple of dilapidated disused bridges – the bridges in the city over the river Adyaru  are : Thiru Vi Ka bridge at Adyar; bridge at Kotturpuram; Maraimalai adigalar bridge at Saidapet, causeway in West Saidapet; at Jafferkhanpet and one at Manapakkam. 

Chennaites will never forget Dec 2015 when torrential rains swamped the city and water flowed over the bridge across Saidapet, virtually dissecting the city with transportation coming to a standstill.   The river Adyaru emanates from  Malaipattu  tank at  Manimangalam Village and traverses 42.5 km, flowing into Bay of Bengal.   On that fateful day when it flowed over bridges, it was reported that it was  carrying more than one lakh cusecs of water on December 2 and 3, much more than the official account.

At Thiruvallikkeni Divyadesam there are daily, monthly, yearly uthsavams. Most of them occur on specific nakshathiram.  On  21.1.2018  [night of 20.1.2018 ~ rather early morning of 21.1.201]  occurred  ‘Eekkadu Thangal Thiruvural Uthsavam’. Eekkadu Thangal near Guindy is an area known for its industries and it lies on the bank of Adyar river.  Every year, Sri Parthasarathi visits this place.  This Uthsavam is held on a Sunday in the tamil month of Maasi, when there are no other special uthsavams.    This year on  Sunday 21^st Jan 2018  was this grand festival. 

Sri Parthasarathi Swami started from His temple in the early hours of today at around 03.00 am (almost a couple of hours late than the usual time)  in beautifully made palanquin  and after ‘mandakapadis’ at various places visited Eekkadu Thangal.  The first halt is at Thavana Uthsava Bungalow, then Sri Parthasarathi Swami Sabha, then Vijay Avenue, Venkatrangam Street.  Sri Parthasarathi then visited Mylai Madhava Perumal Thirukovil ~ and later Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal Sannathi near Chithirai Kulam; in between there are couple of halts at private places too..   [there will be a separate post of Azhwar mangalasasanam at Thirumayilai later………]

Sri Parthasarathi after Mylapore, goes via Alwarpet, T Nagar, Kodambakkam, Mahalingapuram, Saidapet and finally reaches Eekkadu Thangal where Thirumanjanam is performed.  The purappadu is now on.. Here are some photos taken this morning.  Perumal returns back to His abode on the same day night.

மண்டகப்படி  என்ற வார்த்தையை கேள்வியுற்று இருக்கிறீர்களா ?    அகராதியின்படி இப்பெயர்ச்சொல்லுக்கு :  திருவிழாக் காலத்தில் உற்சவமூர்த்தியை மண்டபத்தில் எழுந்தருளச் செய்வதற்காக ஒருவர் அல்லது ஒரு சமூகத்தினர் ஏற்கும் பொறுப்பு என உள்ளது. 

திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்ய தேசத்தில் : நித்யப்படி, மாதந்திர, வருஷாந்திர உத்சவங்கள் பலவும் சிறப்புற நடைபெறுகின்றன.  திருநக்ஷத்திரம் கணக்கு இல்லாமல் நடக்கும் ஒரு சிறப்பு உத்சவம் "ஈக்காடுத்தாங்கல்  திருவூறல் உத்சவம்".  கிண்டி அருகே உள்ள ஈக்காடு தொழிற்பேட்டை பிரசித்தி பெற்றது. இது அடையாறு ஆற்றங்கரையில் உள்ளது.  ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் பிரதி வருடமும் ஒரு நாள் இங்கு எழுந்து அருள்கிறார்.  மாசி மாதம்  மற்ற சிறப்பு உத்சவங்கள் ஏதுவும் இல்லாத ஒரு ஞாயிற்றுக் கிழமை இவ்வுத்ஸவம்  நடைபெறுகிறது.  பெருமாள் பல்லக்கில் புறப்பாடு கண்டருள்கிறார்.

ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் நேராக எழுந்தருளாமல் வழியில் பல இடங்களில் இளைப்பாறுகிறார்.  திருக்கோவில்கள், சில நிறுவனங்கள், தனியாரின் வீடுகள் சில இந்த வரிசையில் உண்டு.  பல வருடங்களாக இவ்விடங்களில் பெருமாளுக்கு 'மண்டகப்படி' உண்டு.  பெருமாள் இவ்விடங்களில் எழுந்து அருளி, காத்து இருக்கும் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள் பாலிப்பார்.  ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும்  காலசந்தி முடிந்து அதிகாலை ஒரு மணியளவில் பெருமாள்  திருக்கோவிலில் இருந்து புறப்பாடு கண்டருள்வார்.  இவ்வாண்டு எம்பெருமானின் திருமேனிக்கு அதீத கடினங்களை குறைக்க - மண்டகப்படி உள்ள இடங்களில் பெருமாள் இறங்கி இளைப்பாறுதல் அல்லாமல், ஸ்ரீபாதம் தாங்கிகளின் தோளிலேயே இருந்து, பக்தர்களுக்கு சேவை அளித்தார்.  இவ்வருடம் புறப்பாடு  அதிகாலை 3 மணியளவில் துவங்கியது.

Thai Amavasai purappadu 2018 ~ திருவல்லிக்கேணி தை அமாவாசை புறப்பாடு

எது நல்லது ? எது கெட்டது ?  எது உண்மை ? எது பொய் ? யாவர் நல்லவர் ? யார் கேட்டவர் ? -எவை செய்ய வேண்டியவை ? எவை செய்யக்கூடாதவை ?  - கேள்விகள் மேலும் கேள்விகள் - ஸ்ரீவைணவர்களுக்கு இது போன்ற ஐயங்கள் எழுவதில்லை. இங்கே நம் தமிழ் தலைவன் மயிலை பிறந்த ஸ்ரீ பேயாழ்வாரின் அமுத வாக்கு. 

தை மாதம் பிறந்து விட்டது.  இன்று அம்மாவாசை நாள்.  தமிழ் முறையில் கணிக்கப்பட்ட நாட்காட்டியின்படி ஆண்டின் பத்தாவது மாதம் தை ஆகும்.  சூரியன் மகர இராசியுட் புகுந்து அதைவிட்டு வெளியேறும் வரையிலான 29 நாள், 27 நாடி, 16 விநாடி கொண்ட கால அளவே இம் மாதமாகும். வசதிக்காக இந்த மாதம் 29 அல்லது 30 நாட்களை உடையதாகக் கொள்ளப்படும்.

தை மாதப் பிறப்பு,  தைப்பொங்கல் பண்டிகையாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.  அறுவடையில் கிடைத்த புது நெல்லுக் கொண்டு சூரியனுக்குப் பொங்கலிட்டுப் படைக்கும் நாளாதலால் உழவர் திருநாள் என்றும் இந்தநாள் குறிப்பிடப்படுகின்றது.  தை பிறந்தால் வழி பிறக்கும் என்பது பழமொழி.    உழவுத் தொழிலை வாழ்வாதாரமாகக் கொண்ட நம் நாட்டில் ஆடிப்பட்டத்தில் தேடி விதைத்து, ஆறுமாதம் கழித்து அறுவடை முடித்து, சூரியனுக்கு நன்றி தெரிவிக்கும் விதமாக பொங்கல் வைத்து வணங்குவர். 

இன்று திருவல்லிக்கேணியிலே தை அமாவாசையை முன்னிட்டு, ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் பெரிய மாட வீதி புறப்பாடு கண்டருளினார்.

அதுநன்று   இது   தீதென்று  அய்யப்படாதே,

மதுநின்ற தண்டுழாய் மார்வன், - பொதுநின்ற

பொன்னங்கழலே தொழுமின், முழுவினைகள்

முன்னங் கழலும் முடிந்து.

பேயாழ்வார் நமக்கு வழங்கும் அமுத அறிவுரை :  எது நல்லது, எது கெட்டது, எதை செய்ய வேண்டும் என்றெல்லாம்   ஸந்தேஹப்பட்டுக் கொண்டிராமல்,  தேன்நிறைந்த தண்டுழாய் மாலையைத் திருமார்பிலணிந்த பெருமானுடைய (ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனுடைய) பொற்றாமரை மலர்ப்பதங்களையே தொழுவீராக !  அப்படி தொழும் அனைவருக்கும், எல்லா ஜென்மங்களில் செய்த பாவங்களும், உருமாய்ந்து விட்டு நீங்கி ஓடி விடும். 

Today 16^th Jan 2018 is Amavasai in the month of Thai.  Sri Parthasarathi Perumal had periya mada veethi purappadu today and here are some photos of the purappadu.
