Uthsavams are
festivities ~ at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam, there are so many Uthsavams and
purappadus. Primordial among them is the
10 day long annual Brahmothsavam,
initiated by Brahma himself at Thirukachi.
At Thiruvallikkeni it is Chithirai Brahmothsavam for Sri Parthasarathi
and Aani brahmothsavam for Sri Thelliya Singar.
Last year there was balalayam followed by grand Samprokshanam and the
brahmothsavam for Sri Parthasarathi could not be performed. The Uthsavam was grandly celebrated in Thiruvallikkeni in Feb 2016.
It is a grand
occasion ~ happy time for all Bakthas.
Uthsavam started with Angurarpanam.
The flag was hoisted (Dwajarohanam)
– daily there was purappadu in various
vahanams. Legend has it that during the Uthsavam lakhs of Devas visit
the divyadesam where the celerbations are taking place, every day both in the morning and in the
evening – there will be bali (ritualistic offering taking care of such
guests).
On day 1 in the morning
there was purappadu of Nithyasurigal –
Ananthan, Garudan, Vishwaksenar and Chakrathazhwar in pallakku for ‘bali’ in
eightpeedams in 8 directions. On day 9 i.e., 8th Feb 2016 –
after Theerthavari in midday, in the evening after Kannadi pallaku – there was ‘dwaja
avarohanam’ – the ceremonial flag was lowered in a grand ceremony.. and before
that there was purappadu of Nithyasurigal in pallakku. For hoisting and conduct
of rituals, the prime battar has kappu – it is Sri Parthasarathi battar who
donned the kappu this time too. Here are some photos of the purappadu
alongwith a photo of Kannadi pallakku too.
