In the ongoing Thiruvadipura Uthsavam, today [12.8.15] is day
6 and in the purappadu it was Thiruvasiriyam – Periya Thiruvanthathi.
Of the incarnations of Sriman Narayana, His descent in human
form as Krishna has been glorified as the most accessible and endearing. Among the Azhwargal, Sri Goda devi [Kothai
Piratti @ Andal] is unique and her immortal hymns of Thiruppavai and Nachiyar
Thirumozhi, do stand out. Thiruppavai is
on ceremonial austerity [Pavai nonbu] and her singleminded devotion in service
t the Lord is explicitly abundant. She was God-intoxicated right from her
infancy and developed craving to marry Lord Ranganatha. The Lord was so pleased that He gladly
accepted the garland worn by Goda devi. Symbolically
after the purappadu everyday during this Uthsavam is the ‘malai marral’
[exchange of floral garlands].
In Nachiyar thirumozhi, she addresses in one breathe the
cuckoos, peacocks, wonderfully coloured flowers, red fruits hanging on trees
and prostrates at the divine Lord of Thirumalirumsoali, praying her cherished desire
be fulfilled.
At Thiruvallikkeni today, the garland, the entangled hair
knot, beautiful silk dress, kasu malai all added to Her divine elegance, which
are presented here below for darshan of
all bakthas.
