Mathura Kavigal Sarrumurai at Thiruvallikkeni
Today, 12th May 2014 is ‘chithiraiyil chithirai’ [Chitra
Nakshathiram in the month of Chithirai] and hence the birthday of Sri
Madhurakavi Azhwar. He was born in Thirukkolur as incarnation of Sri
Garuda. He sang only one divyaprabandham ~ ‘Kanninun Chiruthambu’ consisting of
only 11 hymns; his life was intertwined with that of Sri NammAzhwar.
His pasurams were on ‘Kurugaip Piran’ – Swami Nammalwar
himself. He as a disciple was attracted to the holy feet of Swami
Nammazhwar and claimed that he knew none and nothing else than his
Acharyar……. ~an exceptional piece of guru bakthi.
Azhwar
in his exalted state claims that
Nammalwar, the son of Kari transformed him ( a person who was not worthy
of any values) by taking care and being
considerate towards him and removed him of his sins by guiding him to the right
path, hence he will loudly proclaim the glory of the kindness of the one who is
the source of sweet Tamil poets , spreading his fame in all directions (that is
he would sing in praise of Nammalwar only)
On his sarrumurai day, Mathurakavi azhwar had purappadu with Sri
Parthasarathi
Adiyen
Srinivasa dhasan.
