சோழசிம்ஹபுரம் (சோளிங்கர்)  108 திவ்யதேசங்களில் மிகவும் சிறப்புமிக்க, இயற்கை எழில் சூழ்ந்த புண்ணியத் திருத்தலம். இத்திருத்தலத்தில் பெரியமலை, சின்னமலை, மற்றும் கொண்டபாளையம் திருக்கோவில் என மூன்று முக்கியமான திருக்கோவில்கள்  உள்ளன.

சுமார் 450 அடி உயரமுடைய பெரியமலையில், மூலவராக ஸ்ரீ யோக நரசிம்மர் யோகாசனத்தில் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். அவர் சாளகிராம மாலை அணிந்து, சதுர்புஜங்களுடன் சேவை சாதிக்கிறார். இரண்டு கரங்களில் சங்கு மற்றும் சக்கரம் ஏந்தியிருப்பதோடு,   இரண்டு கரங்கள் ஆழ்ந்த யோக தியான திருக்கோலத்தில் எழுந்தருளியுள்ளார். சின்னமலையில், ஸ்ரீ யோக ஆஞ்சநேயர் யோக திருக்கோலத்தில் பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள்பாலிக்கிறார்.

மலையடிவாரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள திருக்கோவிலில் ஸ்ரீ லட்சுமி நரசிம்மர் எழுந்தருளியுள்ளார். இந்த ஆலயத்தின் உள்ளே ஸ்ரீ ஆதிகேசவ பெருமாள் திருச்சன்னதி அமைந்துள்ளது. அந்தச் சன்னதிக்கு முன்பாக, ஸ்ரீ பக்தோசிதர் எனப் போற்றப்படும் ஸ்ரீ பக்தவத்ஸலப் பெருமாள், தக்கான், அக்காரக்கனி எம்பெருமான் ஆகிய திருநாமங்களுடன் பக்தர்களால் ஆராதிக்கப்படுகிறார். "தக்கான்" என்பது, பக்தர்களின் வேண்டுதல்களை நிறைவேற்றத் தகுதியும் கருணையும் உடையவர் என்ற பொருளை உணர்த்துகிறது. "அக்காரக்கனி" என்பது, இனிமை நிறைந்த அமுதமாகிய எம்பெருமானின் பேரருளைக் குறிக்கும் திருநாமமாகும்.

இந்தப் புனிதத் திருத்தலத்தின் பெருமையைப் போற்றி நம்மாழ்வார், பேயாழ்வார், மற்றும் திருமங்கையாழ்வார் ஆகிய ஆழ்வார்கள் மங்களாசாசனம் செய்துள்ளனர். கடிகைத் தலத்து யோக நரசிம்மப் பெருமானின் அருளால், பக்தர்களின் மனக்கவலைகள் நீங்கி, அவர்கள் விரும்பும் நலன்கள் அனைத்தும் நிறைவேறும் என்பது தலைமுறைகளாக நிலைத்து வரும் நம்பிக்கையாகும்.

சோளசிங்கபுரம் தொட்டையாச்சார்யார் எனும் மஹாசார்யர் இந்த திருத்தலத்தில் அற்புத கைங்கர்யம் செய்து எழுந்தருளி இருந்தார்.  அவர் தம் திருவம்சத்தில் இப்போது .  நமது வர்த்தமான ஆசார்யர் - ஸ்ரீமான் உபய வேதாந்த கோயில் கந்தாடை சண்டமாருதம் கந்தாடையாண்டான் (எ) யோகந்ருசிம்மன் ஸ்வாமி பற்பல கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்து வருகிறார்.

இன்று காலை (ஜூலை 17 - ஆடி வெள்ளி - மகம் நக்ஷத்திரம்) ஸ்ரீ அக்காரக்கனி எம்பெருமானுக்கு உபய நாச்சிமார்களுக்கும் - நமது "கோவில் கந்தாடை சண்டமாருதம் பெரியப்பங்கார் சிஷ்ய ஸபை' சார்பில், நமது வர்த்தமான ஆச்சார்யரால் - வெள்ளி மீது தங்க முலாம், வண்ண கற்கள் இழைத்த பதக்கங்கள் மூன்றும், அதே போன்று வெள்ளியில் தங்க முலாம் பூசிய நீண்முடிகள் (திருக்கிரீடங்கள்) மூன்றும் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டன.

Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal vana bhojanam & nokia phone 2008 !!

 For humans of this Century – the most preferred companion is a Mobile phone ! – they see, touch, search and spend life on it …  around 26 years ago when this century was born, not many possessed Cell phones and the  undisputed champion and cultural icon of the year 2000 was the Nokia 3310. Released in Q4 2000, it became one of the best-selling phones in history (shifting 126 million units) and is globally famous for its rugged durability, incredible battery life, and the addictive built-in game Snake.  Did you use one ?? 

There is never a dull moment in Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam ~ amidst so many uthsavams and after the Aani brahmothsavam of Sri Azhagiya Singar,    and on a day when there is no  purappadu 12.7.2026 .. .. .. Allikkeni was active still.  Kaliyan singing about the divyadesam calls it ‘maada maa Mayilai Thiruvallikkeni’ [singing Mylapore and Triplicane together as the place with palatial buildings !]  .. .. and there was vanabhojana uthsavam of Thirumylai Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal

Nokia Corporation is a Finnish multinational telecommunications, information technology, and consumer electronics corporation, originally established as a pulp mill in 1865. Nokia's main headquarters are in Espoo, Finland, in the Helsinki metropolitan area.   It was founded as a pulp mill and had long been associated with rubber and cables, but since the 1990s has focused on large-scale telecommunications infrastructure, technology development, and licensing. However, in recent years  Nokia suffered from a series of poor management decisions and soon saw its share of the mobile phone market drop sharply. 

The camera mobiles were in nascent stage in mid 2000s in the sense not many purchased fearing its higher costs – there was one model  : Nokia 6120 Classic and it had 2-megapixel Camera. It  was   a classic candybar design, a glossy black case and curved edges with a silver trim. It had a  mini-USB connection at the bottom for data transfers.  It also carried place for a 256MB microSD card !     

The 6120 in fact had  two cameras -- a 2-megapixel one on the back for taking photos and a lower-res one on the front for video calls. There was an LED flash on the back and nightmode to assist taking shots in the dark.  The memory card can   fit around 64 songs !!   The battery life on the 6120 was simply  great – one could manage  four days between charges with average use of calls and SMS.  In India it was around Rs.10000 at that time, a princely sum !!

Thiruvallikkeni Kodai Uthsavam 2026

 

Today is 15^th July – Poosam Nakshathiram in the month of Aani and from today starts the 7 day Kodai Uthsavam of Sri Parthasarathi Emperuman.

 

July 15 is the 196^th  day of the year (197th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar; 169 days remain until the end of the year.  Ages ago, Year 484 BC was a year of the pre-Julian Roman calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Mamercus and Vibulanus (or, less frequently, year 270 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 484 BC for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years. 

The Temple of Castor and Pollux was an ancient temple in the Roman Forum, Rome, Central Italy.  It was originally built in gratitude for victory at the Battle of Lake Regillus (495 BC). Castor and Pollux (Greek Polydeuces) were the Dioscuri, the "twins" of Gemini, the twin sons of Zeus (Jupiter) and Leda. Their cult came to Rome from Greece via Magna Graecia and the Greek culture of Southern Italy. The Roman temple is one of a number of known Dioscuri temples remaining from antiquity. 

The last king of Rome, Lucius Tarquinius Superbus, and his allies, the Latins, waged war on the infant Roman Republic. Before the battle, the Roman dictator Aulus Postumius Albus Regillensis vowed to build a temple to the Dioscuri (Castor and Pollux) if the Republic were victorious. According to legend, Castor and Pollux appeared on the battlefield as two able horsemen in aid of the Republic; and after the battle had been won they again appeared on the Forum in Rome watering their horses at the Spring of Juturna thereby announcing the victory. The temple stands on the supposed spot of their appearance.  One of Postumius’ sons was elected duumvir in order to dedicate the temple on 15 July (the ides of July) 484 BC.  During the Republican period, the temple served as a meeting place for the Roman Senate, and from the middle of the 2nd century BC the front of the podium served as a speaker's platform. During the imperial period, the temple housed the office for weights and measures, and was a depository for the State treasury.   

Centuries later this day got associated with the great fighter Napoleon.  HMS Bellerophon, known to sailors as the "Billy Ruffian", was a 74-gun third-rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy. Launched in 1786, Bellerophon served for the entire duration of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, mostly on blockades or convoy escort duties.  While the ship was on blockade duty in 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte boarded Bellerophon so he could surrender to the ship's captain, ending 22 years of almost continuous war between Britain and France.

Enough of history … after Aani Brahmothsavam of Sri Thelliayasingar, now is the time for Kodai Uthsavam of Sri Parthasarathi.  In early days, Perumal would visit Vasantha bungalow in Venkatrangam Street and have thirumanjanam there.  A couple of decades ago, this was stopped as the mandapam was demolished.  Last year onwards, Kodai uthsavam is happening at neo Vasantha Uthsava bungalow now at TP Koil II lane.  Sri Parthasarathi Perumal and ubaya nachimar will have purappadu  in separate kedayam -  siriya mada veethi purappadu, Venkatrangam Street, Gate aam, Vasantha uthsava bungalow, Thiruvaradhanam, Poocharru there and return to Temple

திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாளுக்கு வருடம் முழுவதும் பல உத்சவங்கள் விமர்சையாக நடைபெறுகின்றன.  கோடை கால முடிவில் நடைபெறும் உத்சவம் "கோடை உத்சவம்".  சில வருடங்கள் முன்பு வரை,  நம்  ஸ்ரீபார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் மாலை வேளையில் வசந்த உத்சவ பங்களாவுக்கு எழுந்து அருளி இளைப்பாறி, பின்பு வெய்யில் தணிந்ததும் திரும்புகால் புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருள்வார். 

எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணன் மிக உயர்ந்தவன் -  பழமையான வேதங்களால் முழுமுதற்கடவுளாகச் சொல்லப்பட்டவனுமான பெருமாள்.  அவர் தேன் ஒழுகுகின்ற குளிர்ந்த திருத்துழாய்மாலையை அணிந்துள்ளவன்.   அத்தகைய சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த எம்பெருமான் திருவடிகளிலே நித்ய கைங்கரியம் செய்வதற்கு தக்க யோக்யதையுடையவர்கள் நித்ய ஸூரிகளேயன்றோ, ஸம்ஸாரிகளான நமக்கொல்லாம் அப்பெருமானைப் பணிந்து உய்தற்கு  வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்குமோ என ஐயுற வேண்டா !!  

மிக உயர்ந்த எம்பெருமானின் திருவடிகளை அடைந்து,  அவனுக்கு அத்தாணி சேவகம் செய்வது பற்றி பொய்கையாழ்வாரின்  முதல் திருவந்தாதி பாசுரம் இங்கே :  

இயல்வாக ஈன்துழாயான்  அடிக்கே செல்ல,

முயல்வார் இயலமரர் முன்னம், - இயல்வாக

நீதியால்  ஓதி நியமங்களால்  பரவ,

ஆதியாய் நின்றார் அவர். 

தனது ஞானம், குணம், பரமபக்தி ஆகியவற்றால் உன்னத நிலையை அடைந்த நித்யஸூரிகள், எம்பெருமான் வசிக்கும் பரமபதத்தில், அழகிய திருத்துழாய் மாலையை அணிந்துள்ள எம்பெருமானது திரு வடிகளில்  நித்ய கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்து வருவர் !  நம் போன்ற சாதாரணர்களும்,  எம்பெருமானை அடைய, அதற்கு தகுந்த, க்ரமங்களுடன்,  முறைமை தவறாமல் வேதத்தை அத்யயனம் செய்து, அந்த உயர்ந்த வேதங்களின் பொருளை  உணர்ந்து அதிற் சொன்ன நியமங்களோடே  முற்பட்டு சித்தராய் நிற்கும் எம்பெருமானை தொழ நமக்கும் எல்லா நலனும் கிட்டும் என்கிறார் நம் பொய்கை ஆழ்வார்.

நகரங்களில் பலர் நரக வாழ்க்கை வாழ்கின்றனர்.  பிரச்னைகள் எனும் பூதம் அவர்கள் மீது அமர்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது.  அவர்கள் ஒருவருக்கும் உண்மையாக இல்லை !  ஏன் தனக்கே கூட !!  சரித்திரம் பலப்பல சாம்ராஜ்யங்களையும், நதிகளின் தீரத்திலே நகரகங்களையும் கண்டுள்ளது. நம் போன்ற ஸ்ரீவைணவர்களுக்கு பல்வேறு க்ஷேத்திரங்களுக்கு சென்று ஸ்ரீமன் நாராயணனை சேவித்து, கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்து, அவன் புகழ் பாடி திளைப்பதே பேரின்பம். வாழ்க்கையின் பரம பலன் :  அதிகார போதை, ஆத்திரம், தீய எண்ணங்கள் இல்லாமல் - நான் சாதாரணன், நான் பக்தன், எனது பணி எம்பெருமானுக்கு, அவர்தம் அடியாருக்கு பணி செய்வதே என்பதை உணர்ந்து வாழ்தலே !

When someone asks you – ‘How are you ?’ – what would be the answer – is it simply ‘fine’ or factual ‘not so fine’.  How willing are you to  genuinely listen to people ? How often would you interrupt to say – what I do, how I would have handled this ! or in my personal experience and .. .. .. 

நம்மில் பலர் பல பிரச்னைகளிடையே உழல்கிறோம்.  மனா நிம்மதி இல்லை.  தினசரி வாழ்க்கையில் எப்போதும் பலப்பல  பிரச்னைகளுடன் சுற்றிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் நிலை ! சரியான இடமில்லை, நல்ல உடைகளில்லை  (அதாவது எவ்வளவு இருந்தும் போதும் என்ற மனதில்லை); அலுவலக வேலையில் மேலதிகாரிகளுடன் பிரச்னை, கீழ் பணிபுரிபவர்களுடன் பிரச்னை, சக  பணியாளர்களுடன் பிரச்னை,  மற்றவர்களுக்கு எல்லாமே எளிதில் நடப்பதாகவும் தமக்கு சாதாரண விஷயங்கள் கூட பல இடர்பாடுகள் நேர்வதாகவும் உண்மையாகவோ மனத்திலோ சிந்தனை;  குடும்பங்களில்  பிரச்னை;  பணமுடை; போதாக்குறைக்கு கொரோனா வேறு உலகத்தையே ஆட்டிப்படைத்து விட்டது.   ஒவ்வொரு கால கட்டத்திலும் விதவிதமான பிரச்னைகள்.  அலைகள் எல்லாம் ஓர் நாள் ஓயும். நாம் நிம்மதியாக வேலைகளை துறந்து ஓய்வாக அமைதியான வாழ்க்கை 60 களில் வாழலாம் என நினைக்கிறோம்.  சும்மா இருப்பதும் பெரும் சுமையாகிறது ! நமக்கு வயதாகும் காலகட்டத்தில் புதுப்புது பிரச்னைகள் !! 

Glory, or difficulty – nothing is permanent.  In this World, there have been mighty Kings –  not exactly those  who ruled the entire Universe but many lesser mortals with valour who ruled over a piece of land and were proud -  history has it that they have fallen biting the dust – that what can lesser humans who possess broken pots as their asset dream of …. Alwar directs us to fall at the feet of Lord Sriman Narayana  .. ..

We think, speak and surround ourselves with Self !!  .. .. .. the  ego (Latin for "I") acts according to the reality principle; i.e., it seeks to please the id's drive in realistic ways that, in the long term, bring benefit, rather than grief.  At the same time, Freud concedes that as the ego "attempts to mediate between id and reality, it is often obliged to cloak the unconscious commands of the id with its own preconscious rationalizations, to conceal the id's conflicts with reality, to profess...to be taking notice of reality even when the id has remained rigid and unyielding." The reality principle that operates the ego is a regulating mechanism that enables the individual to delay gratifying immediate needs and function effectively in the real world.  

மனித இனத்தை, எண்ணங்களும், கவலைகளும் - என்ன நடக்குமோ என்ற எதிர்பார்ப்புகளும், எவ்வளவு நாட்கள் இவை தொடருமோ போன்ற மனப்பிராந்திகளும் கலக்குகின்றன.  இது போன்ற ஸ்திரமற்ற கலங்கிய நிலைக்கு முக்கிய காரணம்   மனிதரிடையே காணப்படும் அகவிருளான கோபம் பொறாமை பொறுமையின்மை பேராசை சுயநலப் போக்கு அகங்காரம் மமகாரம் போன்றவற்றைக் குறிப்பிடலாம். "அகங்கார மமகாரங்கள்" கவுரவர்கள் அழிவுக்கு காரணமானது ! எம்பெருமான் ஸ்ரீகிருஷ்ணர் நான், எனது என்ற  மனநிலையை விலக்க கீதோபதேசம் செய்தார்.  - அது என்ன "அஹங்காரமமகாரம்" -  நான்’ என்ற முனைப்பு அகங்காரம் - 'எனது' என்ற 'பற்று' மமகாரம்.

மமதை என்ற சொல்லுக்கு செருக்கு, ஆணவம், திமிர் போன்ற பொருள்கள் கொள்ளலாம்.  self-conceit, vanity, haughtiness.  வெற்றி பெற்றே ஆகவேண்டும் என்கிற வேகம், தோல்வி வந்து விடுமோ என்கிற பயம், அடுத்தவர்கள் என்ன நினைப்பார்களோ என்கிற கவலை, என்ன நேர்ந்தாலும் அதிருப்தி, அடுத்தவர்கள் நிலை பார்த்து பொறாமை முதலான தன்மைகள் மமகாரத்தினால் உருவாக்கப்படுபவை.

அஹங்காரம் என்பது ஏதோ துர்யோதனனிடம் மட்டுமே இருந்த கெட்ட குணமல்ல.  நமக்கு நம் குணங்கள் அழகானவையாக, நம் மனதில் படலாம் !  ஆனால் நாம் ஒவ்வொருவரிடமும் துர்யோதனாதிகளின் செருக்கு ஆழ்ந்த மனத்தில்  அருவறுப்பான கரையாக படர்ந்துள்ளது.  நமக்கு மற்றவர்கள் பலர் திமிர் பிடித்து நடந்து கொள்வதாக படுகிறது !  .. .. ஆனால்  நம்மிடம் எவ்வளவு பேர் அணுகி தங்களை கஷ்டங்களை, நம் குறைகளை சொல்லிவிட முடியும்.   நாம் நமது அருவறுப்பான பகுதிகளை பார்க்க விரும்புவதில்லை..  நான் என்னும் சொல்லுக்கு இலக்காக இருக்கிற மனிதன் தன்னை மற்றவர்களிடத்திருந்து பிரித்து வைத்துத் தன்னை உயர்ந்தவனாகக் கருதினால் அது அஹங்காரம். நான் என்னும் சொல்லை உபயோகப்படுத்துவதற்கிடையில் தன்னை மற்ற உயிர்களோடு இணைத்து வைத்துத் தனிப்பெருமை நாடாதிருந்து பழகினால் அது அஹங்காரமற்ற நிலை.

மமகாரம் என்பது என் வீடு, என் சொத்து, என் சுகம், என் கல்வி, என் உடைமை என்பனவாம். அகங்காரம் என்பது நான் செய்தேன், நான் சாதித்தேன், என்னை தவிர வேறு யாராலும் முடியாது போன்ற எண்ணத்தின் வெளிப்பாடாகும். இதில் ஒரு பிரச்சனை என்னவென்றால் அகங்காரமும் மமகாரமும் இருப்பதை அவர்களால் உணர முடியாது. அடுத்தவர் உணர்த்தினால்தான் உண்டு.

அஹங்காரம்  மமகாரம்  ஆகிய இவ்விரண்டும் அக்ஞானத்தினின்று உதிப்பவைகளாம்.  தன்னை பற்றி என்றென்றும் நினைக்காமல் எம்பெருமானையே நினைத்து உள்கசிந்த  ஸ்வாமி நம்மாழ்வாரே - நெடுநாளாக  அஹங்காரமமகாரங்களால் பாழாய்ப் போனேனே, என்று இழந்த நாளைக்கு அநுதாபிக்கிறார். நான் உனக்கு அடிமைப்பட்டவன்; எனக்கென்று தனியே ஒரு பொருள் கிடையாது என்றபடி அவர் உரைக்கும் திருவாய்மொழி பாசுரம் இங்கே :

யானேயென்னை அறியகிலாதே,

யானேயென் தனதே என்று   இருந்தேன்,

யானேநீ  யென்னுடைமையும்  நீயே,

வானேயேத்தும்  எம் வானவரேறே.

விண்ணுலகம் முழுவதும் துதிக்குமாறு உள்ள நித்யஸூரிநாதனான எம்பெருமானே!  இதுகாறும் என்னை  - நான் எப்படி உனக்கு அடிமைப்பட்டவன், எவ்வாறு எல்லாம் உன் அருளாலே நடைபெறுகிறது என்பதையெல்லாம் அறியமாட்டாமல் 'யானே என் தனதே'  என்று அஹங்கார மமகாரங்கள் கொண்டிருந்தேன்.  வாழ்க்கையின் உண்மையை உணர்ந்து,  அவற்றை தவிர்த்து  நான் அநுஸந்திக்கும் வகை யாதெனில் -   எனது உடைமைகளும் நீயிட்ட வழக்காயிருக்கும் என்பதே, என தெள்ளத்தெளிவாக  உரைக்கின்றார் சுவாமி  நம்மாழ்வார்.

சங்க கால தமிழ் பெண்கள் தங்கள் கூந்தலை குழல், அளகம், கொண்டை, பணிச்சை, துஞ்சை என ஐந்து வகையாக ஒப்பனை செய்து கொண்டார்கள் என, மதுரைக்காஞ்சி நூல் கூறுகின்றது. கூந்தல் மீது அணிகின்ற பொருட்களை, தலை அணிகலன்கள் என்கின்றனர். இவற்றில் மகுடம் எனும் அணிகலனும் ஒன்றாகும்.  நவீன கால இளம் பெண்கள், நவீன காலத்துக்கு ஏற்றதுபோல டிரெண்டியாகவும், எளிமையாகவும் இருக்கும் கூந்தல் அணிகலன்களை  செய்து கொள்கிறார்கள்.  கூந்தலை அலங்கரிக்கும் பாரம்பரிய அணிகலன்களை, சிறப்பு நாட்களில் அணிவதை, இன்றும் பல பெண்கள் வழக்கமாகக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.  

இலக்கியங்களில் பெண்களின் கூந்தல் மயில்தோகைக்கும் கார்மேகத்திற்கும் ஒப்பிடப்படுகிறது. பூங்குழலி, வண்டார்குழலி என்றெல்லாம் கூந்தலை மையப்படுத்திப் பெண்களுக்குப் பெயர்கள் அமைந்துள்ளன. சிவபுராணத்திலும் சிவனின் ஜடாமுடி பற்றிய தகவல்கள் வருகின்றன. ஜடாதரன் என்றே அவர் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார். பகீரதன்  ஆகாச கங்கையை பூமிக்குக் கொண்டு வர சிவபெருமான் தன் ஜடை முடியில் கங்கையைத் தாங்குகிறார். 

சூடாமணி, திருகுப்பூ, சந்திரப் பிரபை, சூரியப் பிரபை, ராக்கொடி போன்றவை சில, குற்றாலக் குறவஞ்சியில் பெண்கள் அணியும் தலை அணிகலன்கள்.   இன்று திருவல்லிக்கேணி எம்பெருமானின் விசேஷ சிகை அலங்காரத்தையும், அதில் சூட்டிக்கொண்ட பூக்களையும், ஆபரணங்களையும் இங்கே கண்டு இன்புறலாம்.

 

தெளிவான மனா நிலையுடன், உடல் உபாதைகள் வியாதிகள் இல்லாமல் - நல்ல மனது, உடல் நிலை ஆரோக்கியத்துடன், எம்பெருமானுக்கு பணி செய்து கிடத்தலே அற்புத வாழ்க்கையாம்! ஏனைய பொருட்செல்வங்கள் செல்வங்களல்ல!!

திருவரமங்கை என்னும் வானமாமலை என்பது 108 வைணவத் திருத்தலங்களில் முக்கியமான ஒரு திவ்யதேசம்.   இத்தலம் திருநெல்வேலியிலிருந்து திருக்குறுங்குடி செல்லும் சாலையில் அமைந்துள்ளது.   நாங்குநேரி, தோத்தாத்ரி, உரோமசேத்திரம், ஸ்ரீவரமங்கை (சீரிவரமங்கல நகர்), நாகணை சேரி என்றெல்லாம் அழைக்கப்படும் இத்தலம் திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. 

 

 

What you see above, next to Thiruvadi koil (Sri Anjaneyar temple) in East Kulakkarai theru  is Triplicane branch of Sri Vanamamalai Mutt, the supreme fountain head for Thennacharya sampradhayam following our glorious Acaryar Swami Manavala Mamunigal.  The mutt in fact was eatablished by  PonnadikkAl jIyar under the orders of maNavALa mAmunigaL.  PonnadikkAl jIyar was the first and foremost disciple.  Srivainava sanyasis are Ubhaya Vedanthacharyas and paramahamsa parivrajaka Acaryas. Ubhaya vEdhAnthAchArya means one who has mastered both samskritha vEdham and dhrAvida vEdham with their in-depth meanings. Paramahamsa means one who is like a swan which is pure and the one which can distinguish between sAram (essence) and asAram (residue/insignficant). Parivrajaka means one who is a mendicant - travelling preacher.

 

Our Vanamamalai mutt is also known as thOthAdhri mutt in uththara bhAratham (North India). In addition to the branches here in dhakshiNa bhAratham, there are many thOthAdhri mutts in uththara bhAratham (including nEpAL).    

Sri Vanamamalai Periya Ramanuja Jeer Swami alias Ponnadikkal Jeer established this mutt. Swami wrote viyakiyanam for Thiruppavai; composed thaniyan on Andal, composed   17 songs in praise of Manavala Maamunigal.  Born in 1447 as Azhagiya Varadhar, he became to be famously known as PonnadikkAl jIyar. He is also known as vAnamAmalai jIyar, vAnAdhri yOgI, rAmAnuja jIyar, rAmAnuja muni, etc. He was the first and the prime disciple of our Swami azhagiya maNavALa mAmunigaL. 

Azhagiya varadhar became the first disciple of azhagiya maNavALa mAumingaL when mAmunigaL was a gruhasthar. Azhagiya varadhar immediately accepted sannyAsAshramam and stayed with mAmunigaL most of his life. PonnadikkAl means the one who laid the foundation of mAmunigaL’s sishya sampath. He established many thOthAdhri mutts all over the bhAratha dhEsam and propagated our sampradhAyam in many regions. When mAmunigaL goes for thiumalai yAthrai for the first time, periya kELvi appan jIyar sees a dream, where a gruhasthar is lying down and a sannyAsi is at his lotus feet. jIyar asks the people who are there about these two personalities and they say one is “eettu perukkar” azhagiya maNavALa perumAL nAyanAr and the other is ponnadikkAl jIyar as called by nAyanAr himself.
