26^th March 2012 – Today is the third day of Sree Ramanavami Uthsavam and this morning there was the wonderful darshan of Lord Rama on Garudan  – the Garuda Sevai.

இன்று காலை ஆறு மணி அளவில் ஸ்ரீ ராமபிரான் கம்பீரமாக பெரிய திருவடியாம் கருடனின் மீதேறி, தன்  கோதண்டத்துடனும், அம்புடனுமாக அழகாக சேவை சாதித்தார்.

The Thiruvavathara Mahothsvam of Lord Rama is Sree Ramanavami, which is celebrated as ‘9 days festival’.  Today is the second day of the festival and some photos of Lord Rama, accompanied by Seetha and Lakshmana are placed here. The Lord with the Bow Kothandam will relieve us of all worries and falling at his feet will lead to eternal bliss, freeing us from all trouble.

இராமபிரான் - வாலியைக் கொல்ல தனக்கு வலிமை உண்டு என தன் அடியவனான சுக்ரீவன் நம்புவதற்காக, அவன் ஒரு மரத்தை துளைக்கச் சொன்னபோதும், மராமரங்கள் ஏழும் துளைப்படும்படியாக அம்பு எய்தவன். தென் இலங்கைக்கு அரசனான ராவணனை வீழ அம்பு எய்தவன் - தன் அடியார்களை எப்போதும் காப்பவன் - அத்தகைய ஸ்ரீராமபிரானை வணங்கி தொழுவது ஒன்றே நமக்கு எல்லா பேற்றையும் அளிக்க வல்லது. 

இன்று (25/3/2012) திருவல்லிக்கேணியில் ஸ்ரீராமநவமி உத்சவத்தில் இரண்டாம் நாள் புறப்பாடு நடந்தது. ஸ்ரீ ராமர்,சீதை ,  லக்ஷ்மணர்  சேர்ந்து எழுந்து அருளிய புறப்பாட்டின் போது எடுக்கப் பட்ட சில படங்கள் இங்கே :

This is a Post about the 958^th Birth  celebrations of Thirumalai Ananthan Pillai held at Thirumala Tirupathi on 26^th Feb 2012.

Sure you would have had darshan of Lord Venkateswarar – Tirupathi Balaji so many times – have you not noticed the ‘crowbar’ kept at the Main entrance to the temple and do you know its legend. 

Of the many divyadesams sung by Azhwaargal, Thirumala occupies a very prominent position.  Our Acharyan Emperumanaar (Udayavar, Ramanujar, Bashyakarar……….) did many service to the Lord here and Udayavar was instrumental in many of the religious practices being established in Thirumala.  One of his disciples is ‘Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan’ who was very attached to Ramanujar.  Ananthazhwaan was born in 1053 near Mysore in a village called ‘siruputhoor’.  When Udayavar was rendering kalakshepam on Thiruvaimozhi, (the verse – sindhu poo magizhum Thiruvengadathu – meaning the place replete with flowers), Udayavar asked whether anybody would do the pushpa kainkaryam at Thirumala.  Remember, Tirupathi was a very dense jungle ridden with wild animals with adverse weather.  Ananthazhwaan readily came forward and said that he would go, if Udayavar so desires.  Udayavar was so elated that he praised Ananthazhwaan as the real man and till date, his descendents have the name ‘Thirumalai Ananthanpillai’ meaning manly. 

Legend has it that Ananthazhwaan was organizing ‘a flower garden’ – he was constructing a lake for supply of water on the hills – an extremely arduous work.  Lord Balaji in one of His Thiruvilayadals, came to the place and tried helping him.  Wrongly assuming the person as hindering the work, Ananthazhwaan threw the crowbar at the Lord (without knowing Him); later realised his folly and got the Divine Blessings of Lord.  This is the crowbar now seen at the entrance of the Temple of Supreme Lord Thiruvengadam Uaiyaan.

Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan continued his floral and other services to Lord Srinivasar for many years.   The Vigraham of Sri Ramanujar that we worship inside the Sri Vari Temple was installed by him. 

The garden created by Ananthazhwaan is now known as ‘Puraisaivari Thottam’.  It lies on the back side of the temple near Chinna Jeeyar Mutt and one can reach this place through the Thirumala Library also.    Now there is a beautiful brundavanam at this place maintained by the descendents of Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan.  The lake created by him now stands majestically as ‘Ramanuja lake” replete with water on the hill !!   Twice in a year,  Sri Malayappar visits this place and honours Ananthazhwaan now in the form of Magizha maram.  ‘Sri Venkatesa Ithihasa maala’ is considered the best amongst the many works of Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan

For the past few years, anniversary Uthsavam of Sri Ananthazhwaan is being celebrated at his place at Thirumala.   It is being organized by his descendents, well supported by Thirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam.  Almost a decade back, when it was organized for the first time, the place wore not so great looks, but over the years has been improved and maintained so well that it is a fitting tribute to Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan who did yeoman service to Lord Srinivasar. 

This year it was 958^th Birth day celebrations very well organized.  His Holiness Thirumalai Periya Kelviappan Swami,  His Holiness Thirumalai Ilaiya Kelviappan Swami,  His Holiness Sriperumpudur Ethiraja Jeeyar Swami, His Holiness Sriperumpudur Embaar Jeeyar Swami, HH Thirukovalur Emperumanaar Jeeyar Swamigal  were among those present.  Besides there were hundreds of Kalakshepa Athigarigal,  Athyapakars from various divyadesams, Ubaya Vedantha periyavargal and many youngsters who participated in the ‘Thiruvaimozhi Goshti’.  There were kalakshepams by renowned experts also.   This year, a lifesize statue of - Swami Ananthazhwaan was unveiled by TTD.

Let us worship the feets of Thirumalai Ananthazhwaan who was renowned for his knowledge, devotion, steadfastness and more good qualities.

திருமால் தன் அடியார்களை காப்பதற்கு எழுந்து அருளி இருக்கும் திவ்யதேசங்களில் தலையானது "திருமலை" என போற்றப்படும் "திருவேங்கடம் - திருப்பதி"- குளிரருவி வேங்கடம்; விரிதிரை வேங்கடம் என மிகுந்த அருவிகளை உடையதாக புகழப் படுகிறது.  இப்படி பல சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த திருவேங்கடத்தில், சமீபத்தில் நடந்த 'திருமலை அனந்தாழ்வானின்'  958வது திருவவதார மகோத்சவம் பற்றிய பதிவு இது :  திருமலை திருப்பதியில் பல முறை வரிசையில் பல மணி நேரம் நின்று பெருமாளை தரிசித்து இருப்பீர் - பிரதான வாசலில் நுழையும் போது - ஒரு கடப்பாரையை  எப்போதேனும்  கண்ணுர்றீர்களா ? 

காசினியோர் தாம் வாழ கலியுகத்தே வந்துதித்த ஆச்சார்யர் 'நம்மிராமானுஜர்' ! இவரது சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த சிஷ்யர் - 'திருமலை அனந்தாழ்வான்'.  அனந்தாழ்வான் மைசூர் பகுதியில், காவிரிக் கரையினில் சிறுபுதூரில் 1053 ம் ஆண்டு அவதரித்தார்.  இவர் இராமானுஜர் இடத்தில் மிகுந்த ஈடுபாடு கொண்டவர். எம்பெருமானார் திருவாய்மொழிக்கு அர்த்தமருளிக் கொண்டு எழுந்து அருளி இருக்கும் போது, "சிந்து பூ மகிழும் திருவேங்கடத்து" எனும் பாடலுக்கு இணங்க புஷ்ப மண்டலமான திருமலையில் திருநந்தவனம் அமைத்து புஷ்பங்களால் திருமாலை கட்டி கைங்கர்யம் புரிய ஆரானும் உண்டோ! என வினவ, தேவரீர் நியமித்தால் அடியேன் கைங்கர்யம் செய்கிறேன் என அனந்தாழ்வான் தெண்டன் சமர்ப்பித்தாரம்.  சுமார் ஆயிரம் வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பு, திருமலை அடர்ந்த காடு, வன விலங்குகள் திரியும் கடினமான குளிர் பிரதேசம். இக்கடின தேசத்தில், கைங்கர்யம் செய்ய முன்வந்த அனந்தாழ்வானை, எம்பெருமானார் பாராட்டி, 'நீரே ஆண் பிள்ளை' என ஆச்சர்யிக்க, இன்றும் இவரது வம்சத்தினர், 'திருமலை அனந்தான்பிள்ளை ' என பெயர் பெற்று விளங்குகிறார்கள். 

அனந்தாழ்வான் தனது பத்தினியுடன் திருமலையில், நந்தவனம் அமைத்து, அதை பராமரிக்க, ஒரு ஏரி வெட்டிக்கொண்டு இருந்தபோது, திருவேங்கடமுடையான் திருவிளையாடலை தனது கைங்கர்யத்துக்கு விக்னம் என தவறாக கருதி, தன் கையில் இருந்த கடப்பாரையை வீச, அது திருவேங்கடமுடையான் திருமுகத்தில் பட்டதாம்; பின்பு அனந்தாழ்வான்  உண்மையை உணர்ந்து பெருமாளிடம் பிரார்த்தித்து, அருள் பெற்றார்.  இந்த கடப்பாரையே, இன்றும் திருமலை திவ்யதேசத்தில்,  காணப்பெறுகிறது. !!

திருமலையில் இவர் பல வருடங்கள் சிறப்புற கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்தார். திருமலை கோவிலில் உள்ளே சேவை சாதிக்கும் 'பாஷ்யகாரர் ' விக்ரஹம் அனந்தாழ்வான்  பிரதிஷ்டை பண்ணியது ஆகும்.  அனந்தாழ்வான்  நந்தவனம் அமைத்த இடம் இன்று 'புரசைவாரி தோட்டம்' என போற்றப்படுகிறது. இங்கே அனந்தாழ்வான்  இப்போதும் மகிழ மரமாக சேவை சாதிக்கிறார். இப்போது இவ்விடம் அழகிய பிருந்தாவனம் ஆக உள்ளது. இங்கே அவர் அமைத்த 'இராமானுஜர் ஏரி' ஏராளமான தண்ணீர் உடன் உள்ளது.  திருமாளிகையின் உள்ளே, அனந்தாழ்வான் , அவரது பத்தினி, திருக்குமாரர்கள் சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளன.  

இந்த புரசைவாரி தோட்டத்துக்கு வருஷம்தோறும் மலையப்பர் எழுந்து அருளி, அனந்தாழ்வான்  அடையாளமான மரத்துக்கு பெருமாளின், பூமாலை திருவஸ்த்ரங்கள் சமர்ப்பிக்கப்படுகின்றன.  இவரது படைப்புகளில் முதன்மையானது 'ஸ்ரீ வெங்கடேச இதிஹாசமாலா'

இவ்வளவு சிறப்புகள் வாய்ந்த திருமலை அனந்தாழ்வானின் 958வது திரு அவதார மகோத்சவம் 26/02/2012 அன்று சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.  சில  வருடங்கள் முன்பு [2004ல்] திருமலை அனந்தான்பிள்ளை வம்சத்தினர் , திருமலை திருப்பதி தேவஸ்தானம் ஆதரவுடன் அவரது திருஅவதார  உத்சவம் நடத்தினர். அது முதல் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் இந்த உத்சவம் பொலிவுடன் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. அப்போது இந்த இடம் சாதரணமாக காணப்பட்டது. இப்போது இவ்விடம் மிக நன்றாக பராமரிக்கப் படுகிறது.  இவ்வருடம் நடைபெற்ற நிகழ்ச்சியில் - திருமலை பெரிய கேள்வி அப்பன் ஜீயர் சுவாமிகள், திருமலை இளைய கேள்வியப்பன் ஜீயர் சுவாமிகள், ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூர் எதிராஜ ஜீயர் சுவாமிகள், ஸ்ரீபெரும்புதூர் எம்பார் ஜீயர் சுவாமிகள், திருக்கோவலூர் எம்பெருமானார் ஜீயர் சுவாமிகள்; ஏராளமான உபய வேதாந்த விற்பன்னர்கள்; காலக்ஷேப அதிகாரிகள்; பல்வேறு திவ்யதேச அத்யபகர்கள்  என பலர் எழுந்து அருளி இருந்து - திருவாய்மொழிகோஷ்டி,  நிறைய காலக்ஷேபங்கள் என இவ்விழா பரிமளித்தது.   இவ்வருடம் புரைசைவாரி தோட்டவாயிலில், திரு அனந்தாழ்வானின் ஆளுயர திருவுருவ சிலை திறக்கப்பட்டது.  

ஞானம், பக்தி, வைராக்கியம், குருபக்தி எனும் நற்குணங்கள் அனைத்தும் திளைத்து விளங்கப்பெற்ற அனந்தாழ்வான் எனும் மகாசார்யரை வணங்குவோமாக !!

Azhagiya Singar Thavanothsavam 2012

Today (13th Mar 2012) is the second day of Azhagiya Singar Thavanothsavam.  Today it was Azhagiya Singar as ‘Lord Krishna rendering mellifluous melodies in flute’. Here are some photos taken with a photo of Azhagiya singar taken earlier, which will make the darshan more wonderful.

13^th Mar 2012 - இன்று  அழகிய சிங்கர்  தவனோத்சவம். இரண்டாம் உத்சவம்.  பெருமாள் காலை சன்னதியில் இருந்து அருகே உள்ள தவன உத்சவ பங்களாவுக்கு எழுந்து அருளி, திருமஞ்சனம் கண்டு அருளி, மாலை பங்களாவில் உள்புறப்பாடு ஆயின பிறகு, பெரிய மாட வீதி புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருளினார்.

மாலை நம் அழகிய சிங்கருக்கு வேய்ங்குழல் ஊதும் கண்ணனாக திருக்கோலம் - அதி அற்புதமாக மிளிர்ந்த அழகிய சிங்கரை தரிசிப்பது மஹா பாக்கியம். மாலை புறப்பாட்டின் போது எடுக்கப்பட்ட சில படங்கள் இங்கே.  கூடவே அழகிய சிங்கர் தனது சொரூபத்தில் புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருளியதும் இங்கே : இருவரையும் ஒன்றாக சேவிக்கும் போது,  சாற்றுப்படி  அழகு இன்னமும் நன்றாக தெரியும்

Today, 10^th March is 2012 is Hastham nakshathiram – that of Lord Devathirajar.  At Thiruvallikkeni, today, Sri Varadharajar had Thavanothsavam and Periya mada veedhi purappadu.

It is a place famous for the big idol of Lord Aanjaneya – the 18 feet tall idol of Lord Hanuman – it is Namakkal – the motor hub, a place known for body building of vehicles. 

He is the epitome of virtues – known for his knowledge, steadfast faith on Lord, doing things even before ordained – Hanuman, Aanjaneyar, Maruthi is an incarnation of the divine, son of Vayu and most trusted aide of Lord Rama.  He is further known by names – Pavana putra, Anjaniputra, Bajrang Bali.  Hanuman is the God who is the embodiment of discipline, devotion to  His Master and one known for giving boons to all bakthas. 

In the town of Namakkal, the body building for all types of trucks is  a flourishing trade.  Goods transportation  and trucks have become themain stay of economics in these areas.    Namakkal is  a part of Kongu Nadu (Kongu Desam) region of Tamil Nadu which was hotly contested and coveted by both the ancient Pallavas and the Pandyas.-  the  Hoysalas  also ruled over.  The Rock Fort in Namakkal is a special feature of the Town. The Fort covers an area of one and half acres of flat surface and is accessible from South-West by a flight of narrow steps.

Had the fortune of worshipping Lord Anjaneya at Namakkal.  This is not a divyadesam (not the place sung by any of the Alwars) – still a puranic temple hailed as a ‘abimana sthalam’.    Lord Hanuman in viswaroopam of 18 ft is standing and looking straight in to the feet of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha, situated not far away.    It is believed that this temple is more than 1000 years old and that Lord Anjaneya is guarding the fort of Namakkal.  Lord is believed to be ever-growing and hence there is no roof over the idol. 

There are in fact two temples – that of Anjaneya and a few meters in front across the road, the temple of Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar.  This is a beautiful temple carved inside the rock on the footsteps of an imposing hill.  The consort of Lord Narasimha is Goddess Lakshmi known as ‘Namagiri Thayar’ – the place supposedly derived its name from the name of the Thayar.  Inside Lord Narasimha is in a sitting posture with Lakshmi in His lap.

It is stated that Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan's family deity was  Namakkal Thayar. Here are some photos taken at  Namakkal.

Kulasekara Azhwaar Sarrumurai at Thiruvallikkeni

4^th Mar 2012 was ‘Punarvasu (punarpoosam) nakshathiram’ in the month of ‘Maasi’ – the Thiruavathara thirunaal of Kulasekhara Azhwaar.  He was born in Kerala Nadu and was the amsam of ‘kausthubam’ – the jewel adorning Maha Vishnu.  He was born at Thiruvanjikulam as son of King Thiruviradhan and ruled the Chera Empire.  He was greatly devoted to Rama and ‘Ramayana’ and reverred Sri Vaishnavaites with devotion.

His contribution in ‘Sri Naalayira Divya Prabandham’  is 105 songs titled ‘Perumal Thirumozhi’.  In the 4^th chapter – he sings about his various wishes of the forms that he would like to take for doing service to the Lord Balaji at Thirumala.  In one of these songs, he says ‘he would eternally  be waiting as the step before the Lord, as he could continuously have darshan of Lord Thiruvengadavan’ all the time.  After these beautiful words, the padi (doorstep) at Thirumalai is known as ‘Kulasekara Padi’.

4^th March being the 5^th day of Thavana Uthsavam,  at Thiruvallikkeni divyadesam, there was veedhi purappadu of Kulasekhara Azhwaar alongwith Sri Parthasarathi in the morning to Thavana Uthsava Bungalow.  Thirumanjanam was performed at Bungalow and then there was periya mada veedhi purappadu in the evening.   Some photos taken during the morning purappadu and during Thirumanjanam are available down below :

4/3/2012 - இன்று 'மாசி புனர்வசு' - கௌஸ்துபம் அம்சமாய் தோன்றிய சேரலர் கோன் 'குலசேகராழ்வார்' அவதரித்த  நந்நாள்.  குலசேகரர் சேர நாட்டில் திருவஞ்சிக்குளத்தில் - திருவிரதன் என்ற மன்னனுக்கு மகனாய் அவதரித்தார்.  வைணவர்கள் மீது இவருக்கு இருந்த அபிமானம் விவரிக்க முடியாதது. ஒரு சமயம் அவரது அரண்மனையில் தங்க ஆரம் ஒன்று தொலைந்து போயின போது - மற்றவர்கள் குற்றம் சொல்ல - திருமாலடியார்கள் ஒரு போதும் இழிச்செயல் செய்யார்  என, நச்சு பாம்புகள் நிறைந்த குடத்தில் கையிட்டு நிலை நாட்டினவர்  இவர். 

இவர் அருளிச்செய்தது 'பெருமாள் திருமொழி" எனும் பிரபந்தம் -   பாடல்கள் கொண்ட அற்புதமான களஞ்சியம்.  "ஊனேறு செல்வத்து உடற் பிறவி யான் வேண்டேன்' என தொடங்கும் பதிகத்தில், 'திருமலை திருப்பதியில்' என்னென்னவாக எல்லாம் இருந்து திருவேங்கடவனுக்கு கைங்கர்யங்கள் செய்து வேங்கடவனையே தரிசிக்கும் பேறு பெற தமக்கு உள்ள எண்ணங்களை அழகாக 'செம்பவள வாயான் திருவேங்கடமென்னும், எம்பெருமான் பொன்மலை மேல் ஏதேனும் ஆவேனே !" - என்கிறார். 

குலசேகர ஆழ்வார் வாய் மொழியான சீரார்ந்த தமிழ் மாலை வல்லவர், தீ நெறிக்கண் செல்லார் என்பது திண்ணம். 

திருவல்லிக்கேணி திவ்யதேசத்தில் ஞாயிறு அன்று தவன உத்சவம் ஐந்தாம் நாள்.  காலை ஸ்ரீ பார்த்தசாரதி பெருமாள் உடன் குலசேகர ஆழ்வாரும் புறப்பாடு கண்டு அருளினார். காலை கோஷ்டியில் 'திரு விருத்தம்' சேவிக்கப் பெற்றது. தவன உத்சவ பங்களாவில் காலை ஆழ்வார் பெருமாள் திருமஞ்சனம் நடந்தது.  மாலை சாற்றுமுறை புறப்பாடு - இராமானுஜ நூற்றந்தாதி கோஷ்டி ஆனது.

மாசி புனர்பூசம் காண்மின் இன்று மண் உலகீர் - கொல்லி நகர் கோன் குலசேகரன் பிறப்பால், நல்லவர்கள் கொண்டாடிய சீரிய நந்நாள், இந்நாள் !!
